  1. Doesn't matter what apps are open or if it is a new blank or existing workbook.
  2. Glad to hear we were able to help you get it working again!
  3. running XP. system has 1GB RAM and run around 400mb RAM usage... leaving ~600MB for excel or any other new apps. Happens in both new and existing.
  4. Hey all, I'm having some problems with Excel 07. I will randomly get an error "Not enough system resource to display completely" when just looking at excel sheets. I have done some research and found that old versions of LANDesk software as well as Bitmaps in excel can cause this... however... I have neither. I also read that the page file being too small can cause this as well so I changed the size to a range of 1GB-3GB, which had no effect. The error comes up randomly and can happen even in a new Excel sheet. Microsoft has a patch for this... but it is for Office 03, not 07... I am lost as the where to turn next... any help would be appreciated.
  5. Does this utility allow you to Boot from the USB drive and install windows from the ISO image that you place on it? or is this app just for USB drive options IN windows?
  6. Great! Roxio is the most common cause, but as stated above it can be caused by other software as well. Those Upper & Lower Filters can be quite pesky
  7. ... I stick to my original theory: Connection is wired as per "Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection" If your network cable is disconnected, or faulty, it will fail over and assign a 169.254.x.x address... Please confirm that the system has a wireless connection.
  8. It is still unclear as to what the issue is from what you have posted... You mentioned wireless on the desktop, however, the data that you have provided is for a wired connection. ...IF you DO have a wireless connection, as I mentioned, you should have a listing for it when you do IPCONFIG. it IS normal for a wireless card to have 0.0.0.0 or 169.256.x.x if the wireless is not setup correctly or the WEP/WPA key is typed and stored incorrectly. What is your wireless card detected as in Device Manager?
  9. Also will happen if your source files were already modified...
  10. Hey All, I am posting a request for some suggestions on a home surveillance system as my neighborhood has been plagued with vandals over the past month that have done damage to several houses near me, including my elderly neighbor lady. We have spoken to the police and there is really nothing that they can do unless they catch the people, or have proof of who it is. They also said that they would step up patrols in my area, however, now there are fewer then before!!! I am looking for a surveillance system for outside my home (pref. under $600 total), maybe something with 2-5 cameras... maybe IR/Nightvision, maybe motion sensor activated. I have an extra computer that I can dedicate to this task, but I have no clue as far as software for capture/monitoring... Any input would greatly help me out. Thanks in advance.
  11. First, let me point some things out: "Local Area Connection" ... This is a wired NIC! Wireless would show up as "Wireless Network Connection". The IP is NOT an auto-config IP (Unless there was a typo) otherwise it would be 169.254.x.x instead of 169.251.... I'm assuming this was NOT a typo, so I will continue with my recommendations, because If the address really IS 169.251... that means that it was set manually. Follow the directions below to set the NIC to auto-obtain its address again: *** Right Click "My Network Places" icon > Properties Right Click your Local Area Connection > Properties Hightlight "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" > Click Properties button Select "Obtain an IP address automatically Select "Obtain DNS server address automatically" Click Ok Click Ok Unplug then re-seat the network cable on both the computer and wall/switch/router... (Step shouldn't be needed, but I like to do it anyways to make sure there is a good connection) Hopefully this should help. Let us know if you are still having issues with this system
  12. network drivers getting downloaded when you download patches? current network driver compatible with SP3?
  13. I assume that you have a... not so good CD burning software *cough* Roxio... *cough* EzCD Creator This would be due to the Upper and Lower filters of the drives being corrupted. Open REGEDIT, and go here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} delete the listings for LowerFilters as well as UpperFilters. Go back to device manager, uninstall both CD drives then choose to detect hardware changes. *poof* should be fixed. Note: you may need to reinstall your CD-RW Software after doing this fix, but at least your drives should work.
  14. sounds like the system is losing its IP address. However, we would need more details on how your system is connected and its settings while it IS working. then compare when the system is not.
  15. Did you accidentally turn the sound and/or wave volumes down? Where the speakers that you used powered?
  16. I believe you can just copy your profile info to: %SYSTEMDRIVE%\Documents and Settings\Default User Then when it makes a new profile, it should pull the data from the 'Default User' profile.
  17. Applications don't just remove themselves... If they ARE, you have a bigger issue... or someone is accessing the system removing the applications. However, for your question. Try OpenOffice: http://www.openoffice.org/
  18. Hey all, I don't know if I'm missing something but I try to run a command to delete a registry entry, however, when it doesn't find the key, it throws an error on the screen instead of suppressing it. Here is my code: "REG DELETE HKLM\Software /f /v KeyToDelete >NUL" If the entrie exists, it works properly, however, I get an error "Error: The system was unable to find the specified registry key or value" Any ideas?
  19. The file should be saved in: %systemroot%\system folder (for Windows 98/ME computers) or %systemroot%\system32 folder (for W2K/XP/2003 computers)
  20. * is used as a variable When used in the FileSystem field, it will use whatever file system is already on the drive.
  21. The /output: switch is no longer working in v1.3.0.2 ... using the /output:"Normal" option returns the below error with the =Value of '0' using the /output:"Tweaked" option returned the below error with the =Value of '1' Unhandled Exception in UI Thread System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: Invalid Argument=Value of '0' is not valid for 'SelectedIndex'. Parameter name: SelectedIndex at System.Windows.Forms.ComboBox.set_SelectedIndex(Int32 value) at WMP11Slipstreamer.MainForm.ProcessParameters(String installer, String winsource, String hotfixes, String output, string customicon, Boolean nocats, Boolean slipstream, String customIconPath) at WMP11Slipstreamer.MainForm..ctor(String installer, String winsource, String hotfixes, String output, String customicon, Boolean nocats, Boolean slipstream, Boolean close, String customIconPath) at WMP11Slipstreamer.EntryPoint.Main(String[] args) If I remove the /output switch from my batch, WMP11Slipstreamer opens with all of my settings (with no output type selected), however, I can select the output type and click integrate and the slip finishes. I have not found any issues with manual Integration.
  22. Hi all, I am having an issue with my network connections running very slow. Ex: transfering a 60mb file from computer#1 to computer#2, windows estimates to take 33min!!! Look at the network resources used and it is something like 0.4% of 100mb connection. I have a few systems, and I have tested with different network cords, direct crossover cable, switch and also a router. All are 100Full duplex and register as so on the router/switch. This is painfully slow, and is going nowhere near the limit of the connection. Any help?? Thanks in advance
  23. Sry, i just looked at it b4... I guess I didn't understand why it would go through a 2nd array... but you are right, it does exactly what I was wanting TYVM! (I might have to contract your services again if I get stuck with the other 2 programs, but I will take a stab at those for now, I just couldn't figure out how to get the |'s in there, as it would keep telling me it was an invalid syntax every time I tried something.) Thanks again!
