DVD-RW & CD-RW Burning Issues after SP2 Install
Alanoll replied to jdibella's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
DON'T DOUBLE POST! -
thank you for reminding me... the site isn't too clear about that. It should be that you close out of the ORK tools, and then when adding it to your batch file or whatever you change it THERE to just unattend.mst

won't be included, as WinRAR SFX files won't be included Didn't want to open a can of worms.

While typing up alittle guide to get this thing going for the Unattended website, I found a slight glish in 3.2.3 If you go to the Config screen on a freshly extracted copy of WPI, and select any of the entries and press the delete link and then click the save button, it'll return an error The error message says it's in configwizard.js at line 126. Everythign then in config.js is wiped clean, and afterwards the delete works fine. I'm going to write as if this bug doesn't exist so

in regards to the apps section, there WILL be a database in operation at the time of update. Finishing touches and backend work of the scripts should be done either today or tomorrow. the Database as of now, will be for App Switches, Regtweaks, and the FAQ section (it's easier then editing the page everytime). Perhaps in the future and with the approval of xper, I'll port the entire thing to the Database (will make adding pages easier as the form is just like the forum one ) As for the lables... I guess I could mention it on the the finishing screen (where they actually make the ISO).

what part doesn't work? add a PAUSE after the CDIMAGE line to make sure the CMD file executes. If it doesn't, guess I did the INF wrong Just go into the registry and edit it manually and then see if it works. EDIT: OH! Forgot to save the CMD file as cdimage.cmd in %systemdrive%\Windows\System32

Open cmd.exe "IN" the Folder or Windows
Alanoll replied to Astalavista's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
I think he wants to add the entry the the menu say if he was WITHIN the folder, to just RIGHT-CLICk and then select COMMAND WINDOW HERE like you would for a new folder. Just a sec, and I'll see if I can find the right key. EDIT:: I'll look into it more in the morning -
Alternate way to set HKCU for all future users
Alanoll replied to bryanh's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
When I search for "HIVESDEF.INF" 365 days ago and older, I find nothing. However, if I change it to any date, this topic shows up. There was some kind of topic of Numinous which had some info concerning this, and there it worked! i think he's refering to the loading the DAT file, editing in that manner, then unloading -
well, technically, you're sending info from the Registry to the CMD file. CDIMAGE.EXE -L"%1:~3%" -h -j1 -m -o -B%systemroot%\system32\xpBoot.img "%1" "%1.iso" The in the INF [CDImage] HKCR,"Folder\shell\MakeBootISO\command",,,"%11%\cdimage.cmd """%1""""

to be quite honest, i don't know. But i do know that all of the above won't work the %~n3 or whatever, won't work as that's for CMD PROMPT interpreter, and not the INF intepreter. Nor would any of the other commands involving the ~. However... I can create a workaround for when importing, but otherwise... What you could do instead, is call a CMD file upon right clicking, in which you can use the ~. The problem here is that, you can't do any fancy INF stuff, as it's the registry and rundll i believe that interprets the parameters. I could be wrong, and it is the COMMAND interpreter but never really looked into it I don't think the registry is capable of ~

adding an entry to my path statement
Alanoll replied to graysky's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
And that should append the path to my current entry. Is that correct? I'm not clear on what to do with the REG command as you stated. Thanks! that will set it for THAT CMD INSTANCE ALONE. If that's what you want, then fine. If you want it for others, you could simply add that line to all your CMD files, or add it to the ENVIRONMENT registry entries. The copy paste to each CMD file is by far simpler. -
integrating .net framework into my xp cd?
Alanoll replied to pcportal's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
unattended.msfn.org READ! If you don't even show the slightest bit of understanding or even an attempt, then you won't get much help. Requesting that we've walk you through it step by step is a bit rude, especially if you READ that site COMPLETELY you won't even have to ask. -
Save it as a BMP 256 color.

integrating .net framework into my xp cd?
Alanoll replied to pcportal's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
@Svend Rugaard The instructions on the site should work for all languages. @pcportal As alittle request from RyanVM, don't link directly to his files. Also, bare in mind he's been having server problems as of late. I think it just went back up today, so it might be a bit overloaded. -
http://www.emaxhosting.com/ It's run by a member of this very forum (XPerties). I've heard that it's really reliable and cheap. ( 3.95 US a month for 100MB storage and 10GB bandwidth) Untill you get a new host, if you send me the file, I can upload it to a server temporilary.

Enough has been said on this topic.

Media Player Classic - file associations?
Alanoll replied to DKRendeR's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
create a reg file with this [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.m3u] @="Winamp.File" That should reset the m3u associations. -
exactly, and that's how it's staying. It's better to get an understanding of whats goin on then to just jump into the more complex parts. It'd be like jumping into the deep end of a pool without learning how to swim in the shallow end...for most people it doesn't work. As for advantage... It depends on your rig. True you save the time it takes to transfer files from the CD to the HDD in the beginning, but if you're DVDdrive is slow or anything, seeking the files at installation could slow things down. But I find that it's cleaner to just install from CD as then I don't have to worry about cleaning up
