  1. i thought I copied both lines.....whoops...guess only the Path one. whoopsi. Good catch jrzycrim
  2. you didn't get the OPK. If you downloaded it from the Microsoft > DirectX website, you didn't download the correct one. You downloaded the redistributable. You can only get it from the OEM website for Microsoft. oem.microsoft.com XtremeMac used to host it, but I'm not sure anymore as his site went down..... The OPK requires no extracting to be put on the CD.
  3. mmkay.... there should be a folder called $OEM$ alongside your I386 directory if you're installing via CD and inside if from another method. Inside that folder create a folder called $1 , this will map to the drive windows is installed on. Anything else you put in the $1 will be copied over, folders and all. Put ANY files you want copied in here. If you created $1\Drivers then a Drivers folder will be created on your systemdrive. and as a note, as you've used two different variables in two posts... %systemdrive% = the DRIVE LETTER that windows is install on, usually C: %systemroot% = the DRIVE LETTER AND WINDOWS directory. Usually C:\Windows http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/oemfolders.htm
  4. last i looked, I couldn't find any but then again, my ZIP didn't like them so I probally dismissed them as not working Good to know they exist.
  5. wierd.... Basically, there is soemthing wrong with the XML file. Open it in Notepad, and go to Save AS, and under Encoding select Unicode. Then open it in IE and see if it reports any problems, if it doesn't it should just display the entire XML file.
  6. good to know Jazz...... but there might already be a Slate theme out there..... hmmm perhaps the msstyle file is not in the proper place? like where the Theme file is looking? have you tried manually going to appearance and see if it works?
  7. try this one..... Metallic_Shades.theme Metallic_Shades.theme
  8. I wouldn't.... sometimes the service doesn't update all the files, and in Txtsetup.sif they're still reference to the old ident files.
  9. well, there's also the Display settings that work in VirtualPC but now in VMWare. sometimes, things just don't work. CDShell tends to work better in VirtualPC then VMWare if you use images.
  10. post in the right forum. Nother to do with XPCreate. Also, this has already been asked (in the last week) and answered. Create the Winnt.sif, then delete the lines you don't want automatically entered. and Changed FullUnattended to DefaultHide
  11. you don't neccesarily have to post the output in the DOS prompt..... the relevant stuff is in the log file, not the window. I've had no problems with the services, but then again, in my install I ahve a reg file that starts and stops ones I want, so I never have the default running.
  12. but some things don't work in VMWare but do in VirtualPC
  13. you could have just edited your original post.....
  14. if you're going to put all your Favorites in a ZIP/RAR file, why not make it a SFX file, so all you do is call the package like an EXE? also, I would recommend using %UserProfile% instead of Docume~1\USERNAME\
  15. If the error you found regards spaces in some of his commands, he knows about it, and plans to fix it when Sp2 comes out (brand new batches too) You CAN use the batches AFTER XPCreate. Just use CDROOT as the root of the batches. I've done extensive testing on this. There are a few if you use, that the Update Rollup will appear on WU. As for incorporating them into XPCreate, I believe GM has expressed his desire to focus solely on XPCreate and hotfixes, and leave everything else up to the brave.
  16. dunno...... if you install from anything but from booting via CD, it copies the install files to $Winnt~LS$ and then to their proper locations on the second run. There might be a switch, it's always good to search Microsoft KB for it. They usually know those sort of things.
  17. I hope someone can come up with more creative ideas as of how to utilise this situation. They have It's called Windows PE. lol.
  18. do look before posting. It's called a search. as for USB drivers......for dos..... not going to find any.
  19. haha, theories. I once had a theory that I had a theory. I could never prove it though.
  20. tiss true, tiss true..... but then again, he wasn't quite clear untill his last post. All he said was that he wanted the "Press Any Key" prompt
  21. yeah.... i didn't think i was the only one with that problem. Darn webupdates.....
  22. ic..... @neropt you should be alitle more clear as to the type of CD you're making. Also, if you continue to post in teh MultibootDVD section of UNATTENDED WINDOWS people will think you're talkin about a Windows XP CD. you might want to look at ww.cdshell.org . Don't ask what it is, go there and look for yourself. As for teh Windows XP boot image, that will display the prompt, but he HAS TO HAVE a XP/2000/2003 CD. I don't think he is making one. But rather maybe a Recovery CD? or one with assorted programs? in either case.....CDShell should work for you, however you will need to script it yourself. flyakite.msfnhosting.com has a section of CDSHell that may help you slightly.
  23. some people just never read..... that was in his first post in this thread. And like cje said, WINNT.SIF will get copied from the RAMDISK to your HDD during WindowsXP file copy process (the blue dos screen part). And then if you look even further just for fun, Windows then saves it in like System32 as $winnt$ i think
  24. Now if only you would read, and maybe do some research. IF you stick the bot sector of a FLOPPY as the boot of a CD, the CD thinks its a floppy and looks for the normal files. OR you COULD just use the image of a Floppy AS YOUR BOOT SECTOR as Killer-bee suggested. THere is NO NEED to add another program that justs boots the floppy image anyway. And besides if he DID do that, then he'd ahve to use ANOTHER program to find the CD drive letter.
