  1. the easiest way I can think of, is use setupmgr.exe in deploy.cab and see if that sets what you want. Most of the time it does.
  2. I sure hope you're not isntalling XP, or you're wasting that 15 megs.
  3. are you installing any sort of Visual Style with your CD? that could be the problem. the XP menu is selected by default, so one of your current settings is disabling it. Either VisualStyle or another Regtweak. Why don't you comment out section by section of your regtweaks and see what happens? also, try to use CODE tages when posting regtweaks and code and what not. Just press the little "Code" button, and then paster, and then press the button again. Not that hard. Also, why did you start another thread on this topic? It was already trying to be worked out in your last one.
  4. check their website. It has EVERYTHING you need to get it working. There is also a subforum there.
  5. i should mention, that http://unattended.msfn.org is avery nice resource. there is also a German translation of that site. if you're going to take the information, might as well use the source. But i don't see any problem with it, as long as you cite sources and what not. There is a copyright on the unattended.msfn.org page where most of the forum info comes or goes. as a said note, I'm in there twice!! lol
  6. %installdrive% shouldn't even work in XP unless YOU define it. for a list of variables, open a cmd prompt, and type SET and that's all the variables $Progs shouldn't work in 2k, nor should $Docs
  7. the second one sets it to 16
  8. i'll look later, but off the top of my head.... you can safely delete the ones like _2k or _NT if your not installing to those systems,
  9. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=18878# do search either the phrase or the KB # when looking for hotfixes.
  10. the easiest way to make a WINNT.SIF is to use setupmgr.exe its in the deploy.cab file in Tools\Support on your normal CD
  11. from your log i belive from this section -- 15:38:07 -- XPSOURCE Root Directory: y:Most XP CDs usually have more then jsut the I386 directory on them
  12. please don't talk about things that will circumvent protections. Read the rules on discussing that. Basically, Don't. Just a general note on some programs working and some not. It's because of the new memory protections and what not. SP2 doesn't like Xplode and some other commercial programs. I believe that's why they made RC1 publice, to make sure that there would be compatibility with apps.
  13. hehe, I have so many files I'd have to reedit to get my CD back to a starting position after starting from scratch. edit a few Hive files, edit Txtsetup.sif edit Dosnet.inf edit syssetup.dll edit uxtheme edit sfc_of edit setup.exe edit some other stuff re-add all the hotfixes. That's a pretty long process. Thank fully, I have a working base with all that done, and then just extract the image to a new directory and start from there. It's gonna stink when SP2 comes out.
  14. hmmm..... XPCreate might be doing that.....and if it does, dunno why. Campitbility? It really shouldn't matter i don't think, all mine are 8 characters, just because that's how microsoft named them. however, normal ISO 9660 standard for CDs require 8.3 names which might be where your renaming is coming from. Joliet would solve this. As for implentation into XPCreate, I think GM opted not to included that one. There aren't many like the Advanced Networking Pack, and it could very well be incorporated into SP2. But you'd have to get the final say form him.... are the files with the tilde from hotfixes? That could be microsoft, because it keeps with ISO 9660 when creating CDs for compatibility.
  15. good lord!! what are you installing??? Windows 2000? haha
  16. psssh I got all you beat.... 36 I'm sure some are old, but I'm pretty sure not. This included Critical Recommended, and a few not listed.
  17. beat to it by an hour.
  18. http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/installhotfixes.htm that should point you in the proper direction of 817788 I haven't noticed any unless there are spaces in the names. Then you need to use quotes.
  19. in your Winnt.sif file, make sure you have the line OEMPreInstall=YES in the Unattend section.
  20. hmmm.... how are you starting the Install? via CD boot or Winnt32/Winnt.exe ? If the latter, then you have to use a switch to specifyc the answer file. If it's the first, I didn't see anywhere where you said you selected teh boot index, so maybe you're not actually including one. I personally create a ISO image prior to burning using CDImage. You can find it at unattended.msfn.org under Finalizing i think
  21. I believe pup is correct. If you left out the ProductID or Key in a FullUnattedend setup, it would still ask. I've never actually tried though, but there were a few posts not long ago about it
  22. bad burn? either that, or the second time you burnt the CD you forgot to include the boot data as well. it'd be the same file you used for hte first one.
  23. i don't have a single driver file copy over during Setup. I'll dig through the forum on the post about it..... http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=12566&hl=
  24. what's in your adminlogon.reg file? I'm not sure, but sometimes when I rename a user from within Windows, it still retains the old name, but the new just becomes like an alias.
