  1. Hey! Old Timer! Happy birthday!
  2. Apparently you can't. I thought I remembered seeing this as an option. Word creates a new file on save by renaming the temp file and deleting the original. It's the way it's designed. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/211632/?FR=1 The autorecovery feature in Word can be something you're running into as well http://support.microsoft.com/kb/1076...FR=1#appliesto The specified permissions are included in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/277867/en-us?FR=1 If your folders are on a network or mapped drive you may be able to use the setting in Word 2007 Advanced options (Alt, F, I, A) in the Save subsection for [x] Copy remotely stored files onto your computer, and update the remote file when saving"
  3. you will need to change where office is saving it's temp files. Topic moved.
  4. If all of the machines are the same then you do not need to worry about the HAL, and if you have installed the drivers on the reference machine when you build it then you should not need the drivers directory either. Sorry, I can't help with the logo, never tried that before.
  5. i have used it with both MSD and oem drivers without an issue in the past. The implication of no exclusions would be a bigger image size.
  6. Final Score 201.65
  7. Depends upon what mail server you company is using. And how they have it configured. If they are using exchange, you may be stuck as it could be set up to only allow outlook to connect. I personally have not used i.scribe but these are the settings you typically need to set up the majority of mail clients. Otherwise you need: incoming Server Name, Port & Security setting, i.e. SSL User Name (usually the portion before the @mycomp.com) outgoing server name, port & Security setting, i.e. SSL Email address.
  8. This has nothing to do with the processor but everything to do with the Mass Storage Controller. Have sysrpep add the mass storage controller drivers you need and you should be cood to go.
  9. Yes , when you perform an UA install it is an option in the answer file. Check out the options for the Winnt.sif file in the unattended guide.
  10. make sure you have mscomm32.ocx either in the folder with the program or in the windows\system32 folder.
  11. you need to run sysprep and have it add the massstorage conroller drivers during the sysprep process then capture and deploy.
  12. It's a text file, your just have to turn of the read-only attribute. and any method to edit a text file. CMD file vb script, or replace it with your own file (not 100% reliable).
  13. And get the drivers from Intel not Lenovo. Lenovo is typically at least 3 versions behind.
  14. WARNING! I'm not responsible for your system not working if you try this! WARNING! If you modify these two registry settings... HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows\CSDVersion from 0x00000300 to 0x00000200 HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\CSDVersion from "Service Pack 3" to "Service Pack 2" Reboot the computer---- Install MultiPoint SDK---- Set the two registry keys back to their original values----- Reboot the computer once more----
  15. The version that is listed and linked in the guide I know has worked in the past. As recently as a month and a half ago. Now XP updates have come out since then so that could have changed. I have not tested yet with 6001.18000 which I believe is the latest version. This is the version I am using while updating the guide so hopefully later today or early tomorrow I will be finished with both the guide and the testing and have an answer as to it working with this version or having problems.

  18. Last one I remember seeing was with a Compaq i386 portable. They tried to call it a laptop, but it was huge.
  19. Manual who reads the manual. Wait when was the last time you SAW a manual. And I mean printed material that came with the system. Not the electronic documentation.
  20. Right Click on your application in the Solution Explorer and select properties. Go to the Compile tab Click Advanced Compile Options. Select your desired "Target framework (all configurations)" click ok, etc, etc, etc....
  21. You can actually select the .NET v ersion you want to use in the properties pages of the application. You can change it after you have started but it is better to select your target .NET version before you start writing you app.
  22. Haven't looked at the app yet, but did you load the appropriate version of .NET on the test system?
  23. Notebook power management, Intel SpeedStep will lower the clock speed to save power.
  24. I'm actually in the process of updating my guide, and had just added a link to that version, but have not yet had a chance to test it. Hopefully later today I will be able to and we can see if it is possibly a WAIK version issue, or issue with an update.
  25. you can also test your hard drive with seatools. http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/support/downloads/seatools
