[HRESULT = 0x80070643 - ERROR_INSTALL_FAILURE] Have you modified the permissions of the .net folder?
  2. do you get a log file in your temp folder? Zip the log and attach it here.
  3. this happens because of the 2 tokens which users have with the UAC. You can set the value EnableLinkedConnections to workaround this issue: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/937624
  4. Btw, the user "mlehmk" posted a tool on the Microsoft Technet forums, to start the Explorer with admin rights: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itprosecurity/thread/1798a1a7-bd2e-4e42-8e98-0bc715e7f641/#d00925cc-905f-4640-8b6f-106930220e98 You can download it from his DropBox: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/12462931/ExplorerLoader.zip Expand the ZIP and run the tool ElevatedExplorer.exe and it will start at the view "Computer". You can also pass a folder as parameter and Explorer will start at the folder.
  5. have you made the requested traces?
  6. We already have a topic about Sp2 here:
  7. 5s google/bing: You may experience performance problems when you are working with items in a large .pst file or in a large .ost file in Outlook 2007 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932086/en-us
  8. When I run the cmd command I can't seem to find the txt file you have to double click to open you have to run the second command in the folder where you stored the ETL file. nice to hear that removing Norton 360 fixed it
  9. yes it works. Where do you have issues to follow? so ndis.sys causes most spikes. Does the issue also occur if you remove Symantec? I can see the driver is called at many times.
  10. XP doesn't have this issues because it doesn't have the UAC. You have a different issue.
  11. If the full screen is used I can use the new "we call it no longer Metro" Fullscreen thing And don't want me full screen filled. Is this so hard to understand? That's why the Vista/7 startmenu is perfect for me.
  12. You can run the script for x86 and x64 and later use ImageX to add both WIMs into a single WIM.
  13. Win8 sky rocked to 0.30% marketig share http://netmarketshare.com/operating-system-market-share.aspx?qprid=10&qpcustomd=0
  14. for me it is a disadvantage because the cascading menus are more error prone. 1 mouse move too much and the menu is closed. I hate this
  15. I've already told you what my issue is: I hate this and you don't give us an option to use the original Vista/7 style
  16. I've published a script in my German forum: http://www.winvistaside.de/forum/index.php?showtopic=2833
  17. Here is a new tool: IObit StartMenu 8 http://www.iobit.com/iobitstartmenu8.php
  18. try now to resize the partition. Chkdsk has fixed the issues so you should no longer get a BSOD:
  19. Yes, i did. this is part of the Version 1.0? I'll test it now // Edit: yes, it now uses the Vista style dialog :thumbup
  20. it can be done in Windows 8 with Lego's install_wim_tweak.exe: install_wim_tweak.exe /o /c Windows-Defender /r this removes Defender completely and speeds up Windows Explorer a lot.
  21. MSFT released a second version of the update. So make sure you use the new version.
  22. Btw, can you use the Vista style dialog instead of the old ones?
  23. Defender and MSE DRAMATICALLY slow down Windows, but MS ignores such kind of feedback and issues.
  24. you have disk issue: KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR (7a) The requested page of kernel data could not be read in. Typically caused by a bad block in the paging file or disk controller error. Also see KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR. ERROR_CODE: (NTSTATUS) 0xc000000e - A device which does not exist was specified. DISK_HARDWARE_ERROR: There was error with disk hardware BUGCHECK_STR: 0x7a_c000000e CUSTOMER_CRASH_COUNT: 1 DEFAULT_BUCKET_ID: DRIVER_FAULT PROCESS_NAME: System CURRENT_IRQL: 2 BUGCHECK_STR: 0x7a_c000000e CUSTOMER_CRASH_COUNT: 1 DEFAULT_BUCKET_ID: DRIVER_FAULT PROCESS_NAME: System CURRENT_IRQL: 2 MODULE_NAME: hardware_disk IMAGE_NAME: hardware_disk DEBUG_FLR_IMAGE_TIMESTAMP: 0 MODULE_NAME: hardware_disk IMAGE_NAME: hardware_disk DEBUG_FLR_IMAGE_TIMESTAMP: 0 the system service exception happen when opening a regiustry hive on the HDD. So this is also an hardware issue Run chkdsk as suggest and also run a diagnostic tool from your HDD manufacture and also backup all personal data asap !!!!
