@xpclient have you tested the 2D perf? Do you also have those issues? Maybe it is an issue with my Radeon HD 5770.

you can believe what you want but this is not correct XP has only grown that much because Vista was delayed. A lot of companies wanted to skip XP and stay at 2000, but because of the Vista delay they were forced to upgrade because they didn't wanted to use a Windows which is out of mainstream support. And VISTA is the EXTREMELY STABLE BASIS for Windows 7 and Windows 8

it is extremely slow. 1 CPU core is hogging the CPU alls the time and it uses 180MB RAM all the time: scrolling through the Explorer is nearly impossible, because of Defender. I've removed the crap with this tool:

I've tried it but it doesn't work. In Win7 the pinning of WU was also disabled, but I was able to drag & drop it to the pinned area. But this also no longer in Win8.

I want to go directly to the normal logon screen. This LockScreen is useless on a PC.

our disk is busy during boot. I can see that Avast causes it. So remove it and try other tools. My favorite is NOD32. Also cleanup your tools that launch at start (All the ASUS tools, Pando Networks Media Booster and others). this is a good idea. Btw, I still have the issue that Metro isn't shown the first time I press the key combination.
