  1. no Win7 builds are released to Technet/MSDN, so no one has official Win7 Builds unless you were at the PDC08 at got the 6801 on the harddrive
  2. no, the backup folder is the Windows File Protection you know from WinXP. In Vista it is called Windows Resource Protection. You need the whole WinSxS folder, because updates come as deltas. The Trustedinstaller creates the new Vista files with the help of the DPX (Delta Package Extractor) from the files stored inside the WinSxS folder.
  3. please provide the dmp file, so that we can analyze the Dump
  4. the old way: install a second Vista, before OOBE enter the Audit Mode, install the Sp2, run sysprep and generalize the image. Now reboot into your first Windows and capture the second Windows into a new WIM. WinBeta made a complete guide for Sp1, for Sp2 it's the same. You can use the WAIK from Sp1 to this, because Sp2 doesn't need a new WAIK.
  5. you can slipstream it, but not with vLite
  6. I hope not, that old Startmenu sucks and I hope MS removed it completely.
  7. it can be done with the same hacks like Sp1, but vLite needs to be updated. Because Sp2 needs Sp1 it could be difficult to use the offline method again to integrate the Sp1 to an also offline integrated Sp1 Image.
  8. this is only possible with the old AuditMode-Sysprep-recapture method
  9. you can't slipstream the Sp2 with vLite 1.2
  10. did you use vLIte to remove components?
  11. you can't slipstream the Sp2 with current vLite version. If you want an integrated Image follow this guide: http://www.winbeta.org/comments.php?catid=1&id=9536
  12. this also happens under Vista when you remove Crash Dump Support.
  13. pen the command prompt where you've installed vLite and type vLite -unwim and press Enter to run vLite
  14. the WIM filter driver isn't installed correctly. run vLIte -unwim to uninstall the filter driver, restart your PC and start vLite again
  15. this is a bug on x86 Windows hosts. vLite doesn't detect the WAIK installation folder. Copy the WIMGAP.dll from the x86 Tool folder to your vLite installation folder.
  16. run vLite with -unwim
  17. yes, the files are not marked as Redistributable and so providing those files with your own software is not allowed. To get the WIM files you have to download the full WAIK.
  18. it's inside the "sources" folder as I already said. Please copy the 32bit WIMGAPI.dll from the WAIK installation folder to the vLite installtion folder and try again.
  19. do you see a files named "install.wim" inside the sources folder?
  20. Which DVD type do you use? A clean MS DVD (ISO) or a recovery DVD?
  21. what's the path where you copied the Vista DVD to? Perhaps the path is too long? Or do you use a Recovery DVD?
  22. this is a special feature from the Enterprise Setup. The pid.txt includes an generic key to install the enterprise Edition. You can try to change that key to your matching KMS or MAK Key
  23. the Vista Enterprise Setup uses the Key from the pid.txt
  24. you can use vLite 1.2 to remove things from Win7.
  25. @aviv00 *d'oh* I forgot to add the link: Link Shell Extension (LSE)
