  1. do it, AHCI is better and much faster: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922976/en If you still have issues, upload the compressed trace to mediafire.com or rapidshare.com and post the link here (or send me the link).
  2. this is nonsense. Or do you only have 1 type of knife which you use for everything (work in your garden, cut bread, meal and others)? I have so many different ones, because each is specialized for 1 purpose. Tablets with XP failed because of a GUI which was designed for Mouse, and Metro is a GUI for TOUCH ONLY and not for use with a mouse, that's why it fails on desktop/laptops.
  3. nice to hear this Why do you do this? AHCI is better and should be always used.
  4. is this an IDE drive or do you run a SATA HDD in IDE mode?
  5. do you run your DVD/HDD-drives in IDE/ATAPI or AHCI mode?
  6. yes, this is this ugly Metro crap. Slow, useless animation all over the place. And Windows 8 uses this by default. You're forced to use this so often because a lot of action cause switching from desktop to this world. Becasue of this penetrating switching I get headache after a few minutes. This is really the worst UX I ever see :realmad: :realmad:
  7. this tool is bad, because it shows missing update when you install update the regular way ( it checks for the LDR/QFE version of the updates which I don't force to install).
  8. we both agree that the offtopic should be deleted. Metro is also the dominating topic at the Microsoft stand at Cebit 2012. Ok, I now know that I don't need to travel to Cebit. I can't hear that Metro nonsense any longer
  9. Uninstall AVG and run this command xperf -start perf!GeneralProfiles.InBuffer && timeout -1 && xperf -stop perf!GeneralProfiles.InBuffer DetailedTrace.etl to trace more details. How do you connect at college? Also with Wireless like at home or with LAN? Do you use the latest driver for your Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 1030?
  10. expand the HalTscStallExecutionProcessor node in picture 3 more to see more details. also which power plan do you use?
  11. such list already exist. Google for "SoLoR Windows 7 hotfix repository"
  12. hmm, you don't really have a DPC/Interrupt issue. But the good question is why the kernel takes 25% cpu usage. Does it also happen if you remove AVG from your system?
  13. can you also compress the ETL file and upload it?
  14. can you provide the DPC_Interrupt.etl (after dumping the to with xperf -d , not the kernel.etl)?
  15. Do you run a device (CD,DVD, HDD) in IDE/ATAPI mode?
  16. Have you applied the VS6 Service Pack 6?
  17. topic was reopened. But the software still fails to detect WAIK, so it is useless.
  18. both use the same code/same files so it applies to both.
  19. those hacks will NO LONGER work, read the comment from the link I posted No code of Windows 7 startmenu = no hack to workaround
  20. ok, so stay forever at Windows 7: http://winunleaked.tk/2012/01/windows-server-code-named-8-beta/ this user has access to some newer pre-Beta Builds and showed a lot of features (ReFs, Storage Spaces) 2-3 months earlier compared to the official MS blog.
  21. oh no :'( The metro crap is also in the Server 8 : Server come with Metro Start Screen, old start menu is kicked from the code.

    1. FlierMate

      FlierMate

Neither do I like UI keep changing.

    2. UltimateSilence

      UltimateSilence

Metro does not play nice with desktops. :(

  22. nice to hear that you fixed it after using xperf
  23. awesome track. I think the best song of Roxette
  24. have you replaced the MSC file in the system32 folder with the new files?
