  1. WOW OMG he can ADD! LOL just kidding and trying to blow off some steam...
  2. You only get the .cat files when you do direct integration. Hmmm really good point there as far as I understand it the 150 limit would not count because non direct integrated hotfixes are proccessed at t-13 not t-39. However, you will still experience a slowdown over direct integration because the whole package needs to be proccessed and installed but with direct integration most of the work is done pre-install so it computes it faster. Think of it this way what would be quicker and cleaner running 1 install with 150 mini installs for patches. UGH! Or running 1 install with all of the updated files and regentries already built in.
  3. I have heard (Not seen for myself) that missing cab files can cause problems with drivers. Also yes removing the cat files can speed things up but that is only in the case where you get over the 150 # of cat files limit. somewhere over 150 cat files windows experiences a gigantic slowdown at the t-39 mark. The reason why the integrator no longer supports removal of cat file is that it is no longer neccessary as Ryans update pack and wmp10 packs no longer hit that limit. Plus it ensures their is no problem with any missing cat files.
  4. If I remember correctly you can achieve this by pressing f10 when it first begins the boot from CD proccess to get to the recovery console while using a unattended disk..

  15. Windows Post-Install Wizard (WPI for short) is a hypertext application designed for giving users choice. While Windows XP offers many ways of customizing the setup process out of the box, its major drawback is the lack of being able to select which applications an end user may install. In the past, end users and administrators needed to either download the files manually, or create overly complex scripts that could only be used once. WPI allows you to create one image, which can then be custom configured, and optionally, automated, so that end users can install any applications that have been configured into WPI. Here is the 5.2 changelog: WPI ChangeLog. Modifications by Mark Ritter (mritter) & Kelsenellenelvian =============================================================================== v5.2 Updates ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- * Changed and simplied the themes file, wpi.htm. The change has made 5.1 themes obsolote. But the changes made were for user submitted ideas and removal of legacy code no longer used. * Fixed a bug in the themes dealing with the BgPicture. * If not playing audio in WPI, then the timer will click as it counts down the final 10 seconds. * Dje improved the installer code again to cure the looping problem, added Pause and Abort buttons, and general code cleaning. Works much better now. * Updated themes to hide the timer when user clicks to stop it. Also updated the progress bar display. * Fixed a bug dealing with CheckOnLoad. * Fixed a potential error when saving the .M3U files. * Minor Graphical changes to both themes. =============================================================================== Download Download Here! Thank You Notes, Extras and Manual Suggested disk folder layout: With the above folder layout all your config entries should read like: %wpipath%Install\Blah.exe I have seperated the tools out from the main archive. You can download the tools here: Tools archive. Contents of the tools archive: cmdow Universal Silent Switch Finder PEiD WPI Config Lister CDSwitch autorun.inf <-- Updated and fixed wpi.ico New icons thanks to WolfX2 Here is a quick start package that will set your windows disk up to use WPI with runonceex all you need is to place this %oem% folder at the root of your windows disk. You MUST have the line "OemPreinstall=Yes" in your winnt.sif file if you want to have the MCE theme if you dont feel the need the cmdlines.txt will still run WPI for you even without a winnt.sif file. %OEM% Folder. Contents of the %OEM% archive: Media Center Style XP Theme (NO uxtheme.dll hack needed!) cmdlines.txt regentry to set MCE theme for runonceex window. runonceex.cmd Manual: Download Here. How to make a winnt.sif file. Here is a small tutorial on how to add an app to WPI! Ok this is a sample (Very simple) configuration for Windows Defender Beta 2 This assumes you have all of the WPI files either in the WPI folder at the root of your Windows cd or all of the WPI folders (Common, Graphics, WPIScripts, Tools, Install and Themes) and the file WPI.hta at the root of your cd. Remember this is just the most basic and required entries for a program! #1 Place the desired app in the install folder. (In this case WindowsDefender.msi) #2 Run WPI.hta and choose “Config” #3 Choose at the very top above the config section “Add” #4 Enter in the name section “Windows Defender” ßNo quotes! Then click on any other section of the config area to activate the rest of the wizard. #5 You will notice the Unique ID section gets automatically configured for you. #6 All apps are selected to be installed by default right from the start so if you don’t want it selected by default you must uncheck this box. #7 Choose a category for your app to be displayed in. If you want the app to be displayed in a category you don’t see simply chose other and a box will appear that will allow the entry of you choice. #8 In the Command 1 section browse to the installation package you want to have installed. You will get (%CDROM%\WPI\Install\WindowsDefender.msi) to make this work from either a stand-alone CD or form a windows CD You should change this to “%wpipath%\Install\WindowsDefender.msi” Once again NO quotes! #9 Add the necessary switches for the program to run silently i.e. %wpipath%\Install\WindowsDefender.msi /qn #10 Select the Save and then the Exit buttons and you have now configured your first app!
  16. Or just rename your favorite wallpaper to "bliss.jpg" cab it and replace the one in your I386 folder with the one you made.
  17. Did you patch your uxtheme.dll file?
  18. OK might be a stoopid Question I have a second system with a gig and a half of ram I am planning on Dual-booting XP and 98. So does 98se with all patches and mods (Gapes SP, Tihiys Revo pack and Maximus's patch) ACTUALLY support more than 512 megs of ram or not? I mean Yeah it might show all of the ram and recognize that there is a 1.5 gigs yet does it actually use ALL of it or does it kinda bottleneck at 512? Trying to make a really good gaming system.
  19. Set your power cable on the router to a timer for the power.
  20. The section that is calling nLite.inf is actually in your cmdlines.txt.
  21. Which Programs are you having problems with?
  22. WOW ummm what do you mean by an undo option? None of the other abilities you mentioned are built into WPI but could be posssible to do with cmd files and vbs scripts.
