  1. Depends on the prog you are using, the rpm of the external disk and the cache size of the drive... Plus the amount of defragmentation. Shouldn't take too horribly wrong though. Less than an hour for sure.
  2. I too have experienced a couple of wierd issues with IE8 at times so you are not going nusto. The reason why it flases and then comes backup is it makes a reg entry for the office fix and then restarts. Now as to why you are getting JUST a blank screen I have a theory, DO you have a cd in your first drive? Yes? WPI now checks for the type of drive you have installed and if there is a disk in it will take a couple of seconds. DO you have ALOT of entries? WPI might be time-ing out before the interface fully initializes. OR I am just totally way to drunk and am missing something.
  3. open txtsetup.sif and tell us what line 9206 says then. COPY it EXACTLY!
  4. Have you pressed alt+g while in the WPI main interface? The are dozens of conditions, plus more are being added for the next version. I am SURE you can find something to differ between the pc's. computername IS on the list for the next version.
  5. DO NOT change the folder structure of the archive! Right click on the archive and "Extract Here" then grab the resulting folder and just drop in your Vista DVD folder. It has to be several folders deep and in the exact place.
  6. http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5999 Here is an addon that wil add IE8 for you.
  7. OK couple of things: VirtualPC has its own "Hardware" so driver wise it will not use the ones integrated. The drivers stay on the disk unless Windows needs them during setup. However since the drivers are in the proper section and you are sure you have the right drivers for your hardware then a real install is in order.
  8. First off where is your source? No such build number exists. It HAS NOT gone RTM. The world would know. Your second post however is just asking to be banned. The mods around here don't like that kind of s***.
  9. What the hell is your problem? You don't like Vista then fine, go away to the Win9x forum. But to say that some of us with at least twice the amount of experience that you have has "zero credibility" is way over the line. You are now just trolling and flaming your way to (Hopefully a vacation). After SP1 Vista has become merely acceptable nothing more, nothing less. You should respect that some like it.
  10. Please don't spew such nonsense. If someone want to use their vLite to fix up their system they will HAVE to download WAIK or find the old vLite and install it first (The ONLY thing you said that was sensible) Nuhi wanted to avoid a debacle like Autopatcher had a couple of years ago. It is the price we pay for wanting to customize our os. Besides a person who can READ and use the SEARCH feature will quickly know that they only need to install WAIK or the old vLite ONCE and then backup the 5 files they need. Heck building a winrar installer is super easy to... Vista is not crap after sp1 BTW it is just a decent os nothing special.
  11. If you are using nlite to slipstream then JUST use ONLY sp3. The requirment of SP1 first is for a running system only, not for pre-install, or slipstreaming.
  12. Service pack 1 has been looooong discontinued. I doubt you will be able to find it.
  13. STFU... Here is the overview of the $oem$ folders and what they do: http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/v...e256da8fed2ffd/ Yes you MUST manually create them. Also you need oempreinstall=yes in your winnt.sif file for the files to be copied.
  14. Then I suggest you look at driverpacks.net... nLite as you have been told is not the solution for you.
  15. A: You install it and run it as normally. B: You cannot.
  16. Like I said before they are false positives, compiled with older versions of auto-it.

  18. Ummm why didn't you just use the PROVIDED one in the WPI files section of the manual????
  19. Umm I see no real need for this either, but an auto-it script that has been compiled should do the trick. Simply have it "push" the needed buttons and then watch the window title and when it is gone have it wait for like 10000 and "push" the buttons again. Personally I like, as most members here probably do, to have much less then more. 2-5 minutes is a lot of time when you are doing 100 installs.
  20. Seeing as how you have an old P.O.S. system (No offense meant) Are you sure your power supply is enough? Did you set the jumpers right? Last thing = is it a 40wire or 80wire cable?
  21. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwar...product=3870985 According to this you shouldn't have an issue doing this. What is the BSOD error code? Also what tatto? The oem marking? There are many ways to fix that if thats what you mean. Plus what is the XP disk you are using? Retail, OEM or MCE?
  22. Did you install nero7? Set firefox as a defualt browser?
  23. Actually I have a MINOR disagreement with coffeefiend. I Think if you are going with x86 os'es you really should use Vista or better yet Win7 when it comes out. As for the disagreement I would say go with 3 gigs ram no more or less. That way you can dual channel 2 x512 and 2x1gb and have no wasted overhead. Plus the dual channel bonus is really great. I recently wqent from a pos 1gig ram w\Vista to a much better Vista w\4gigs ram... HUGE BONUS!
  24. nLite CANNOT be used for commercial or buisness uses...
