    HFSLIP 1.7 BUG

Not an HFSLIP bug, but is caused by the latest shell32.dll update. Find the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\HideDesktopIcons\ClassicStartMenu\{871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30309D} The value should be 1 to hide, or 0 to show the icon. It now has to be done manually. the_guy
  4. Just a quick heads-up, you should look over your list because some of those non-public fixes have been replaced. IEAudioUpdate is included in IE6SP1. KB838751 is replaced with KB932590. KB139071 is replaced with KB917423. You should look at new critical updates to replace some that are on your list. Also, KB896156 SHOULD be supported, as it's almost the same as the latest IE cumulative updates. the_guy
  5. The following file is a Microsoft CAB archive, but is being treated as an InstallShield archive by Universal Extractor 1.5. http://download.microsoft.com/download/b/c...f31/w95gray.exe Also, whenever the /x switch is used on a file (Microsoft Hotfix), is there any way the description can be changed from a cab archive to a hotfix? the_guy
  6. @erpdude8: I wouldn't mind looking at those. the_guy
  7. KB936021 is listed, just as KB936227. All other updates are optional, and, as such, will not be going in my list. KB936357 will be updated. the_guy

    ie6 on 95

I hate to bring up an old topic, but I managed to find a way to install KB905915 on Windows 95 without errors. What to do: -replace mshtml.dll with version from KB867801 -replace urlmon.dll with version from KB834707 -remove dxtrans.dll from KB905915 -ensure msvcp50.dll is installed in %windir%\system (or remove danim.dll). Those are the only files from any IE 5.5 patch that won't work on 95. The only problem is that kernel32.dll from 95 doesn't have InitializeCriticalSectionAndSpinCount, as Petr mentioned previously. Would anyone want to code that in? Psst...I'm working on an Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2 update pack, a version for 95 and a version for 98/ME/NT4. Any thoughts? the_guy
  9. I thought it would be inconsequential, but I deleted a couple of large files off one of my drives because I suspected they were corrupt. Believe it or not, the computer is working much better now. The files were on a network drive, if that helps. the_guy
  10. I turned my computer off this morning, and I just turned it back on, and all seems well. I have no clue why. I;m guessing it's just one of those things that happens randomly. the_guy
  11. Hey guys, Whenever I open my computer, or any other explorer window, my system just locks up. I can still use firefox, but I can't do anything else. Even the Run dialog box locks up on me. It all really started whenever I installed Firefox 2.0.0.8 RC2. I have another XP computer with 2.0.0.8 final which has no issues at all. Does anyone know what's wrong? the_guy
  12. What are you talking about Anyway, I just forgot to update it yesterday. Done! the_guy
  13. KB939673 is for IIS. If you have XP Home, that would be why it's not showing up for you. Also, I never noticed KB891122 on the list. It will be removed. While I was typing this post, I realized I forgot another IIS update for XP. The list will be updated immediately. the_guy EDIT: KB891122 was not on the list. KB917537 has been added for XP SP2.
  14. A new version has been released. Check the update list post by MDGx for more info. the_guy
  15. Hey guys, Until MDGx updates his site with unofficial IE/OE updates, the newest version of the IE updater has those updates in them. Download from Filefront Also, a new version of the ME SP (I will not update the main topic until MDGx posts a link on his site, consider this a pre-release special). Download from Filefront the_guy

  19. The update is only for XP/2003 users who upgraded from 2000. Otherwise, it's not needed. the_guy
  20. Is there any reason why HFSLIP doesn't support w03a3409.dll for 2003 SP2 updates? I missed the difference until today, so is that it? It's just a couple lines that need to be added, and another to be modified. the_guy
  21. I found out how to compress images with True Image. I just looked at size figures in the wrong area. I tried terabyte, but I wasn't that big a fan of it. I chose Acronis, thanks to all that helped me. the_guy
  22. I tried Acronis, and I like it, except for the fact that it doesn't compress images. I also tried Norton Ghost 2003, and it refuses to back up to the drive (registered as a local drive). It won't add a disk id to the drive. I plan on trying terabyte tonight and hope it works. If anyone knows how to fix either the TrueImage or the Ghost problem, it would be appreciated. the_guy
  23. There is a program on the internet that does just the thing. It's called getver.exe, it runs from DOS, and it should be able to be downloaded with HFSLIP. I believe it is available directly from Microsoft. If not, I apologize. the_guy
  24. Why doesn't HFSLIP look at version info first, and if that is unavailable, then look at the datestamp? If the versions are the same or not thre, then datestamp would be looked at. the_guy
