Letter from gurpal Singh of Punjab to Mr. Bill Gates of Microsoft Subject: Problems with my new computer Dear Mr. Bill Gates, We have bought a computer for our home and we have found some problems, which I want to bring to your notice. 1. There is a button ’start’ but there is no ’stop’ button. We request you to check this. 2. One doubt is whether any ‘re-scooter’ is available in system? I find only ‘re-cycle’, but I own a scooter at my home. 3. There is ‘Find’ button but it is not working properly. My wife lost the door key and we tried a lot trace the key with this ‘ find’ button, but was unable to trace. Please rectify this problem. 4. My child learnt ‘Microsoft word’ now he wants to learn ‘Microsoft sentence’, so when you will provide that? 5. I bought computer, CPU, mouse and keyboard, but there is only one icon which shows ‘MY Computer’: when you will provide the remaining items? 6. It is surprising that windows says ‘MY Pictures’ but there is not even a single photo of mine. So when will you keep my photo in that. 7. There is ‘MICROSOFT OFFICE’ what about ‘MICROSOFT HOME’ since I use the PC at home only. 8. You provided ‘My Recent Documents’. When you will provide ‘My Past Documents’? 9. You provide ‘My Network Places’. For God sake please do not provide ‘My Secret Places’. I do not want to let my wife know where I go after my office hours. Regards, Banta Last one to Mr Bill Gates : Sir, how is it that your name is Gates but u are selling WINDOWS?

I am surprised to face a very strange problem in my windows XP Whenever i click any of my system icons and drag, the icon shift far away from mouse. Screenshot may describe it more clearly. You can see, that icon is quite far from the cursor whereas it should have been attached with the cursors itself.

amazing, whatever resolution they may be, i want to know where those wallpapers reside on the CD source.. as i can notice, those ultimate, premium version of wallpapers are inside "install.wim\systemroot\windows\web\wallpapers" but i can't see starter wallpaper on that source, andthe amazing part is , when i install starter, there are a new series of wallpapers inside wallpapers directory ? how how how ?

where should *.MSU updates from microsoft for vista reside so that it get automatically installed during the setup procedure of any version of windows Vista. i ma rebuilding my vista source using vista AIK. what will be the folder structure. heard that there is a folder named updates, and all the updates should go inside that folder. but where is that folder? or just in the CD root or inside install.wim or inside boot.wim
-
i installed vista starter this time and found a completely different wallpapers other then vista premium, ultimate, home basic. i mounted the install.wim and boot.wim and searched for those wallpapers inside web\wallpapers directory but couldn't find the wallpapers of starter edition. there is only others wallpapers for ultimate, premium and..... where does those starter wallpapers reside ? if we change the wallpapers inside web\wallpapers with the same name and commit the changes to install.wim, will it give the effect in the wallpapers after the installation is completed. can we be able to choose our custom wallpapers which we placed inside wallpapers directory ? i want this to be done with starter edition ?

[help] same user can logon from different machine.
Nepali replied to Nepali's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
either i am not able to make u understand whats my need, or you are not getting me. those locking windows or telling my students to lock their session. here i have talked is just a example, lets suppose on bank,, thats the most sensitive place to work.. a single mistake will lead then to loose much.. what i want is what i already told, no concurrent session, no other alternatives or simalar stuff won't work. locking workstation, telling students to lock their computer, restricting particular ip or computer will not solve my problem. well, no inetraction is made with students, and i don't think everyone is computer expert, some just know only how to type, thats all, the only need is to lock concurrent session from any IP/computer -
how to take backup of the users created on a domain (active directory users and computer) i tried csvde but got wired.. i want the users to be backup so that i can simply import/restore them in any domain, as per necessity is there any such third party tools thanks

[help] same user can logon from different machine.
Nepali replied to Nepali's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
there may arise several security issue. in my context, students doesn't know how the server is maintained or lets say, they aren't expert.. so their project which are saved on there drive/folder may be deleted due to the unauthorized access when they are out for toilet, break, or if changed another computer/machine. Students aren't aware of being such circumstances, its just a simple reason to tell here as example.. theres so many such issue, another example is some user are assined as the member of backup operator, internet user, or administrator, so just imagine, what will happen if anybody get that machine..... (coz teacher, lab assistant has to leave his computer and has to login on to the another computer to teach them, or students has to leave their computer and has to sit on his frens computer or blah blah...) to prevent all these, i am searching a bullet proof solution... thanks -

Nepali replied to Nepali's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
i am not concerned with third party tools, anyway thanks for ur effort.. Well this is not practicable for me as the domain is in college, and student can sit on any machine.. so i can let the IP or computer to be difined. the only way to restrice them is username/account. What my students do is, they login on one machine, and leave the machine open and again sit on another machine, resulting third student can use his previous computer and delete all his data. -

isn't it possible without any additional addons doesn't microsoft have such policy defined ? i think this is very common issue... that anyone can overcome -
might be the simple one, but i couldn't get how to disable the same users to logon to the same domain from different machin simaltaneously. in my context: 2000 Adv server as server "domain=radius" 2000 pro as client test as user 24 machines same test user can logon to the doman from all machines. i want only one accout to be logon to the domain at a time from one machine and that same account shouldn't be logon from another machine with same username.

i have 4 user created admin internet jhon maddy maddy n admin is among administrative user playing something (i don't rmember) and restarting , whenever i want to do administrative jobs, it asked for UAC administrative password, but the password field is greyedout. there is a place to input password but is greyedout(disabled) not the only thing i can do is login through administrator.. but wheres the administrator? i can't login even through safemode, i later came to that admiistrator is disabled by default. also i figured out, maddy is among administrator group but also behaving a normal user, that means UAC is preventing me to do any thing, even to disable, editing registry, file deletion, taking permission, installing application it asks for the UAC administrator password.. this is preety amazing problem for me, as i think i haven't messed such thing and being a administrator, i was asked for the UAC admin password but the input field is disabled.
