  1. Not sure where to post this eexactly, but is anyone else having problems accessing some websites? I can't access penny-arcade.com nor freewebs.com , yet it appears that other people have been able too... Is there something up with the internet, or is it localized to my area? I had a problem getting msn.com earlier...
  2. http://www.planetamd64.com This is a good location to find MANY drivers, even some that aren't listed on the manufacturers website... It's where I got the drivers for my 2510 printer at (full networking features enabled too... Sweet!) I single boot with x64 Edition... Only thing I don't have drivers for is my Remote Wonder II...
  3. I wish I could photoshop worth a ****... I have this brilliantly brilliant design...
  4. I'm probably going to be going head first into Vista... Being a technician at a computer store I like to use whatever is becoming standard so that when it comes into the store for repair, I'm already familiar with it... This is why I can pull many a rabbit out of my hat when dealing with XP... My frame of mind is "It doesn't matter which OS is 'better', if it's the standard then it's the replacement. Deal with it." I'll probably use Home Premium, Professional Premium, and Ultimate Editions... Home Premium on my HTPC, Pro Premium on my X64 machine, and Ultimate Edition on my server (When she's built)
  5. So, I build computers out of AMD Processors and one of the things I do is turn on Cool N' Quiet... Thing is, in order for it to work properly you need to set the system to "Minimal power management" and install the Cool N' Quiet software and driver... I don't know how to have the install to be silent, and how to tell the computer to go into Minimal Power Management... I don't want "Minimal Power Management" to be the default on install, so I'd like to know the command line text required to tell the system to do that... That way I can make it an option through WPI... Assuming such is possible....
  6. That's just it, I don't want it to ask about presetup.cmd and setup.org in the vanilla install...
  7. This one is a bit of a tricky one... My DVD has XP Home, Pro and MCE 2005, OEM accross the board.... Of these three I'm doing three diferent methods of intall, Unattended with Drivers, Attended with Drivers, and Attended without drivers... In order to reduce clutter I'm using Method 2 to perform the driver pack work... Thing is it's not working entirely properly.... The MAIN reason I have Attended without Drivers is because I wanted an untampered version of XP so that I could perform repair isntalls on computers with it... Thing is that because all three are running out of the same directory I think I've bumped into half a problem... Everytime I try to perform the install, persetup.cmd and setuporg.exe wont get copied, this is to prevent the drivers from being copied, again I don't want them... The result is that I get an error when setup starts which tells me setuporg.exe and presetup.cmd are missing, and then the setup comes to a screeching halt... I was able to work around it by putting the two files in and then erasing everything inside the presetup.cmd, but this would ruin my other two installs WITH drivers... Was wondering if you knew of a solution... Short of using Method 1...
  8. Figures someone would answer after I create an image and burn it to a DVD... Thank heavens for DVD-RW's.... Many thank yous chief...
  9. So, I want to integrate the Google Toolbar for Firefox into the Firefox install, but since the Google Toolbar for Firefox is a .xpi I'm drawing a blank... I added it into te config.ini file, but Firefox spat back an error saying there's no instal configuration for it... Thoughts?
  10. Didn't know that was a requirement... Fiddle sticks.... Guess I'll need to tell my Winnt.Sif's to do that now... *sigh* Learning experiances...
  11. I've made these Unatended install CD's using the latest RyanVM pack, and his WMP10 pack... The procedure I used was put CD on hard drive, use Ryan's integrate and integrate, then use nLite and nLite it, then add software and drivers into the $OEM$ directory... Used to work fine, though recently it seems like when I install it I've been getting these horrid white lines around the icons on my desktop, and his thick black around around the computer picture in the System Properties Windows... .Net Framework is installed during setup using the svcpack.inf method...
  12. I've got a problem with this release.. I've made an unattended multi-boot DVD and it seems that perfci.h, perfci.ini, and a few other files I can't rememeber at this point in time, were called for and not found.... Could be a problem with my image, just thought I'd throw it out here though as a heads up... I used Method 2
  13. I thought long and hard about the best plce for this topic, and despite not running Windows MCE I decided to put it here... I'm running Windows XP Professional on my HTPC which I've got connected to a 32" Sony Wega TV using ATi's VGA to HDTV adapter set to 480p on my AIW Radeon 9600XT... I'm using an Athlon 64 3000+ processor on an Asus A8V Deluxe motherboard with 1GB of RAM. On this motherboard there's integrated ALC850 audio, which has 7.1 audio capabilities, SPDIF out, and optical out... I've got a set of 5.1 Sony Surround sound speakers which I've got connected to my motherboard's onboard audio using the Digital Coax cable to my SPDIF connector... Here's the problem... I only seem to be able to get 2.0 audio, despite Windows being set for 5.1, the software i'm using to play the DVD's s set to 5.1, but the Realtek auto sensing crap that gets installed with the drivers is set to 2, but I can't change that because the auto sensing s*** is turned on, and I'd like it off.... Any thoughts on why I'm only getting 2.0 audio? Or how I can turn off this damned auto sensing crap..?
  14. I know about RunOnceEx, I use WPI because it allows me to do some things I can't with ROE, even though it creates a script for ROE to use in the first place, and I know I can write a batch file, I just don't know how to have it called up on the next boot, and only have it called up that one boot.
  15. Reboot the system when it's done installing everything... I have it install the XPize pack, but once it's install it wont look proper until it does a restart, and I'd rather it restart itself automatically... And on top of that, how would I tell it to delete a couple of directories once it's rebooted? Reason it has to be after the reboot is because the directory WPI runs out of is on the drive, and I figure it wont delete the directory it's in because it's in use, so after the reboot, while it's booting, I could have Windows delete it's directory...
  16. I've recently begun using WPI to install my software in Windows and it's allowed me to reduce my AIO-DVD source footprint because I have it reference to a directory in the root of the DVD, rather than in the $OEM$ directory of each OS, so when I use CDImage it's not creating several indexes for all the files, it writes then once and then they never appear again... This seems to have reduced the size of my image a little bit... I was wondering if something similar could be done with the driver packs... Currrently my method involves using Method 1 where it basically puts everything into the OEM directory of each OS, then I use the multiboot tool to copy all the MassStorage stuff off (Which is broken by the way, it didn't copy RHPT3xx.Sys, or one of the VIA ones... Can't remember right now) Anyways... Using this method it means that CDImage has to create an index for each driver accross the board, would ie be possible for me to copy all those drivers to the root of my DVD? If so what would the required command line in the WINNT.SIF file be to tell it the drives aren't in the OEM directory, they're in the root... Again, the reason I ask is because I believe this would help reduce the amount of space it takes on the DVD, as well as save time when creating an image...
  17. I personally use Windows x64 Edition at home as a primary operating system... It's REALLY nice and stable, but drivers are the issue.... Things like my Remote Wonder II, and something else I can't remember, they don't have drivers... Same goes for my Audigy card, no proper drivers.... Bonus side is that the x64 Edition has the nVidia drivers needed to make the SATA ports work without using F6, so kudos to Microsoft there.... Be nice if when Vista gets released, they release it on DVD and just include as many drivers as possible out of the box... Make Bashrat's job easier...
  18. How will this help me with the audio issue I have right now? I need to resolve it....
  19. Is there a way for me to do a complete "reset" of Windows 98's audio feature? Like deleting a bunch of critical files involved in creatng the audio in 98... I really want a solution...
  20. I've begun to use a rather unique approach to installing Windows 98/ME on a system, this method allows me o do it within about 20 minutes, and the system wil have all the updates from the Windows Update site, leaving me with just having to find drivers... What I do is I insalled Windows on one machine, got it all up to date, then I deleted the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Enum key, this basically reset the device manager and makes Windows re discover all the devices, well after deleting that key from Safe Mode I reboot the system and use host to make an image, then I take that image and apply it to other computers. Works like a charm, I only need to enter the registry afterwards and change the CD-Key and owner name, etc, etc... Problem is that the audio will only work 75% of the time, essentially what happens is the audio drivers will install, but not be in the preferred devices list, meaning I can't get any audio... Does anyone know a solution to this problem? It's been a thorn in my side since I use this method, and when I do a motherboadr swap... Any help would be GREATLY appreciated....
  21. I've got stuff I want installed, it's in a directory on my CD, so I'll give an example... D:\Install Now, if I want the WPI to install from there I set the command to "%CDROM%\install\Program" right? Cause I did that and it doesn't appear to wanna do it... Am I missing the concept behind the %%'s? Also, could someone point me in the direction of a post, or sitre that explains the various %%'s"? Thank you.... Also, I've integrated .NET into the setup process, so it's not being installed at the WPI stage, it's installed before the GUI activates... Edit: To further add to the problem, what actually happens is I use the %CDROM%\install\setup.exe and the system goes looking in C:\install\wpi\install\setup.exe As near as I can tell it appears to be a direct result of me integrating .NET framework into such an early point of the instaall, and that the framework is messing up how the system looks for its stuff... Is there a way I can tell the system that %CDROM% is a CD-Rom drive, not the hard drive...?
  22. What if I don't want the WPI screen to pop up at all though? Or can I get away with setting the timer to 0 and let it popup for a split second? Though I'd rather it not pop up at all...
