I had this happen to me when my power supply over heated. When i left it off for a while the computer booted up just fine.

I have driver signing set to ignore but it does not ignore unsigned drivers!! why is this. I also have it check to "make this action system default" under the admin option. And yes i am the admin when i try to set this optoin. why is this not ignoring unsigned drivers?

What exatly is GPO? Does this only have effect if yoru on a domain. would it be benificial to disable this if i am just on a home network or have 5 users on one system?

Also make sure your monitor plug is plugged in and screwed tightly becuase if it is loose it can effect colors on your monitor. I have had this problem on my computer and just tightening the screwed fixed it.

After a fresh install of XP i always run Ccleaner to clear up left over junk. Well several fonts are detected under the registry cleaner as "Font Issue" I checked these out in the fonts folder and i am unable to open any of these font files. The fonts are Guatami, Latha, Mangal, Raavi, Shruti, Tunga, Sylfean. Why are they corrupt right after install? is there a way to fix them or correct his on the cd i am installing from?

Arlight well i acctualy have to entries in my add/remove MSXML 4.0 SP2 Parser and SDK 1.23MB MSXML4 Parser 0.06MB the MSXML4 Parser says its part of Microsoft Game Studios. Microsoft games i have installed are Halo and Halo custom edition i also have AGE 3 demo but the MSXML4 parser was installed before i put on the demo. yea so i have just been adding this file to my unattended installs cuz i though ti was needed. but what is it for?

During unattended setup should i remove ComPlus Applicatoins folder or the xerox folder. They are empty and pointless it seems. I know xerox folder is protected so how could that be removied if it should? can anyone provide an example of software that would use either of these folders? Anyone keep them on their system?

I have noticed this software MSXML 4.0 is nstalled along with other software (i think some of my games) what is it for? why is it included in ryans pack is this really needed? Should it be added with an unnattended install?

Arlight well i do something similar during my unattended setup. I create 2 folders with custom folder icons. This is how i suggest you try to set this up. it works for me. 1). Create your custom desktop.ini 2). Then place your desktop.ini files into a folder on your XPCD (Say... $OEM$\C\Custom Icons) 3). Use a batch command to move your desktop.ini files from the location on the CD to there prespective folders. This is what i want to do. Useing a batch file check to see if a folder called "_User Backup Files\Pictures" exists If this does i want to copy the contents of that file into the My Pictures folder of my user profile. I do not want to move the entire folder and replace the My Pictures folder that is created during install i only want to copy everthing inside my "_User Backup Files\Pictures" so prob something like COPY *.* or something. If the "_User Backup Files\Pictures" folder is empty i want it to say "No backup files to copy" or something. I want to run this same command for a "_User Backup Files\Papers" folder also Does this make sense? I am haveing trouble using the IF Exist and ELSE commands and need help thankyou.

I have heard that oobeinfo.ini goes it the I386 folder of your XPCD. I have also been told it goes in OEM\$$\System32\oobe or something. The reason i ask is i an unable to get all the settings in my oobe to work properly. I want the Automatic updates screen to be skipped during setup (and automatic updates disabled). Where do you guys place your oobeinfo.ini file in your CD?

my registry entry for quicklaunch looks alot different than yours. I just suggest you try what i posted and see if that works. If it doesnt let me know

yea im really not sure what that would be the case for you. i have done dozens of test of my unattened CD and have used this tweak in all of them and have always had the show destop and ie link show up. are you certain the registry keys you have been importing are correct? Also when you say system tray and quick launch those are 2 different things. Systray is on the right by the clock and quicklaunch is on the left next to start menu. Are you saying when you enable quicklauch that quicklaunch icons are appearing in the systray? Correct me if i am missunderstanding you

I have heard from a few ppl that qchain is no longer needed for hotfixes released after sp2. Just wondering if anyone can verify this. Also is there any Microsoft bulletons about this issue?

I do not know of a registry tweak that works but i know if you add these lines to your winnt.sif file it works perfectly. I have it set to 10% on my computer but im sure you can change it to 5. [systemRestore] MaximumDataStorePercentOfDisk = 10

I would like to make a custom right click menu to add to My Computer. I know how to add Regedit and Services ect. but how do you add a serpator or like a side group. What i mean by side group is like if you right click your desktip and there is a "New ->" and if you mouse over this option you can pick what file you which to make. Send To is another example.

@Daemonforce I dont understand how you shut off themes service before you install themes. With the themes service disabled themes other than classic do not work...

I dont know if this will help you but i have done some changes to my desktop.ini files and inorder to make any changes take effect i used ATTRIB +S to make it a system file so. ATTRIB +S "path your folder" just dont do the path to yoru desktop.ini its the path of the folder you wish to apply the changes to. Just an idea.

@turan wow that was really weird. That did fix it...do you have an explanation what caused it. Also would there be a way to perform this fix when i am using royale theme in an unattended setup as the default theme and do not wish to have to perfrom this process after boot?
