  1. I can't say that i agree with either of you. I find that Norton Anti Virus works like a charm, is easy to use, and from personal experiance, doesnt seem to hog that much system resources, or cause any problems. Maybe i have a magical copy
  2. While i think your ideas are fantastic, unfortunatly i feel that some of them are not within the time i would like to allocate to this project. For example, loading a winnt.sif file, would require me to almost redevelop the program from scratch. But dont be dissapointed. I will however, impliment some of your other ideas like the version checker. I am also interested in seeing your idea for the GUI. Thanks for your suggestions.
  3. You're real Anti-Symnatec arent you Webmedic Thats okay though, alot of us are Anti-Micro$oft
  4. I'm pretty sure, from my experiance with norton products, that when you install (most of) Norton products, it requires a reboot. Setup cannot run another Norton product installation until this reboot has been completed. Most of Norton software edits or monitors system files, so a reboot is required for thoes procedures to start. Its just they way they've made thier software.
  5. Double click the button on your GUI, and it'll take you to the code for that button. This bit is from VB.NET but try it, see if it works anyways. Shell("C:\programdir\setup.exe")
  6. Jeez ... looks like i've got my work cut out for me
  7. Sounds like my sister ...
  8. You might even consider flashing your BIOS with the latest version. I suggest you check the motherboard's website to see if there are any known issues with your graphics card.
  9. This post is just to ask everyone what they would like to see in the next release of my software. Would you like more componants, a better GUI, better explinations on certain options .. any suggestions welcome. I am also planning to include a section that makes a reg file of all your selected regristy enteries, so if you could please post your favorite regristry hacks (so i dont have to sift through dozens of threads), id appreciate it. Please try not to double up on regristy hacks, so i can get the program out to you all faster Cheers guys! Note: With your reg tweak, please make sure to include a brief description of what the tweak does, otherwise i wont have a clue
  10. Well done?
  11. Greetings and Salutations! May your stay at MSFN be a pleasent one
  12. Then you've broken something, cuase it works perfectly well for me, and it was working for iced until he broke something
  13. In VB.NET it's really rather simple. Shell("C:\cat.txt") or to run a system command: shell("regedit") Good luck with your programming!
  14. From my experiances, the answers to your questions are as such: 1. Yes - Allthough im not 100% sure, i always put them in the same order every time, and I havent had a problem. 2. No. The ordering of the options are not essential. 3. Yes. Where there are quotes in a guide, its best to use quotes in your winnt file. It makes troubleshooting alot easier. 4. No. They are not case sensitive. This is probably the only answer i know for certain But as AaronXP suggested, the only way to know for certain is to test them yourself
  15. I think you're getting that error because when Media Player installs, it creates a restore point automatically. In your reghacks you've probably disabled system restore. To avoid that error, either remove wmp9, or turn system restore back on. You could even turn it off after wmp9 has been installed, if you prefer.
  16. go to http://support.microsoft.com and type the error code into the search. That should give you some more information as to why it is happening, and how you can fix it.
  17. Thats not true. If you open your browser and type: irc://irc.gamesnet.net and hit enter, it should open mirc for you and promt you to join that sever. Iced: I suggest you check that the server you are trying to connect to actually exists. Open up mirc, and join it manually. If that works, i'd try re-install mirc again.

    hello

    Greetings and Salutations!
  19. Well im using a Geforce 4 MX 440 and it works perfectly. I dont see why it would be a problem...is your XP CD legit ?
  20. To tell you the truth, im not completly sure what would cause that to happen.
  21. To quote a classic Austalian movie... "Tell him he's dreamin'" - The Castle
  22. New website is good! But you spell features with an a MSFN has been nice enough to give me some webspace for my own website for the program. Im currently in the middle of throwing that togeather, so when its done, ill post a link
  23. @pseudokiller I rike, i rike! Well done
  24. Nephilim: Your program is fantastic. A complete time saver. The idea and the program itself is very well thought out, but i have one problem with it, and one problem only. I think the amount of time you have set for the program to have to idle, before it installs the default programs (currently set at 12 hours) is rediculous! You would make me a very happy man if you were to edit your program to make the idle time changeable by the user. Other than that one little flaw, the program is fantastic. Ill definatly be using it for my installs. (provided you fix the idle time hehe). Keep up the good work!
  25. I have a 52x Lite-On burner and have never had a problem. I also suggest a Lite-On burner.
