Thinking of buying an external hard drive
codeblue replied to Messerschmitt's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
Hi Messerschmitt I recently bought an enclosure and WD drive separately and have had no problems . After posting here i went for the NEXSTAR 3 and WD WD2000JB 200gb. Link to the Nexstar. http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=1769 Link to my post http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=64485&hl= But as kyuuzo said, go for the 2.5" verson if portability is your main factor -
Thankyou hexbin :-)

Poll: Options Screen & Config Screen
codeblue replied to almulder's topic in Windows Post-Install Wizard (WPI)
Nontransparent all the way. Personaly i like backgrounds plain and simple, the less clutter the better. PS tried clicking on the pic, just went to here - http://www.imagevenue.com/ with no large view? -
With new drives you get a long thin pokey thing, about an inch long, that goes in the small hole on the face plate. Using this you can get the tray open. Of course this doesn't help you if you havent got one!!

Hi slimzky I also use the /S switch to install Opera 6 (Weekly Builds Here!!) I also install my profile as well using a Winrar exe file: 1) Configure Opera the way you like it 2) Open the Opera folder in the Programs folder 3) Highlight operadef6.ini and the Profile folder 4) Assuming you have Winrar installed, Right click and select Add to archive. 5) Rename the file Profile and put a tick in to the box Create SFX archive. It should now read Profile.exe 6) Go to the Comment tab and enter the following: Path=%Programfiles%\Opera Silent=2 Overwrite=1 7) I use the following to install everything (it's from my WPI config.js) prog[pn]=['<font color="#FF99FF">Opera 9 build 8265'] uid[pn]=['FONTCOLORFF99FFOPERA85'] picw[pn]=['128'] pich[pn]=['128'] textl[pn]=['Bottom'] texti[pn]=['1'] ordr[pn]=[590] cmd1[pn]=['%cdrom%\\Install\\Opera90p2_8265\\Opera.exe /s'] cmd2[pn]=['%cdrom%\\Install\\Opera90p2_8265\\profile.exe'] cat[pn]=['Internet'] pn++ 8) I then delete the Opera folder in Docs and Settings without any ill effect. OH, to answer your question, No i dont know how to install Opera for single users from the Opera.exe file, but this seems to work.

By adding the following, and any variations, as a reg entry you can clean up that over bloated NEW list ; Deleting unwanted NEW documents [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.doc\Word.Document.8\ShellNew] [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.rtf\ShellNew] [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.bmp\ShellNew] [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.wav\ShellNew] [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.zip\CompressedFolder\ShellNew] [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.ppt\PowerPoint.Show.4\ShellNew] [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.ppt\PowerPoint.Show.8\ShellNew] [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.xdp\ShellNew] [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.mdb\ShellNew] [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.mdb\Access.Application.11\ShellNew] [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.pub\Publisher.Document.11\ShellNew] [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.xls\Excel.Sheet.5\ShellNew] [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.xls\Excel.Sheet.8\ShellNew] [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.xls\ExcelWorksheet\ShellNew] [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.psd\ShellNew] [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.rar\ShellNew] [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.zip\ShellNew] [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.au3\ShellNew] Most of these clean up MS office stuff. You can also add NEW entries. For example this one creates a new .cmd file complete with 'cls' on first line and '@Echo Off' underneath [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.cmd\ShellNew] "Nullfile"="" "Data"=hex:63,6c,73,0d,0a,40,65,63,68,6f,20,6f,66,66,0d,0a,0d,0a,0d,0a ...and this one creates a reg file with 'Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00' on first line and 3 spaces underneath. [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.reg\ShellNew] "Nullfile"="" "Data"=hex:57,69,6e,64,6f,77,73,20,52,65,67,69,73,74,72,79,20,45,64,69,74,6f,\ 72,20,56,65,72,73,69,6f,6e,20,35,2e,30,30,0d,0a,0d,0a,0d,0a Enjoy

Trying to create a folder and put all the patched files inside, so when I create my Nlited disks I just copy over the files and test. This is the code I’m using, taken from the XPero home page: cls @ Echo Off XPize.exe /S /mode=i386 /source=C:\XPCD\I386 /dest=C:\xizeFiles Exit The result of this code is to flash up a Command screen quickly, then it disappears. I’ve tried running this code from 'RUN' and including ‘C:\' to show path of XPise, without joy. The strange this I've done this before with previous versions and it worked fine? What am i doing wrong?

Thanks Grunth0s It was here: Custom Scan / Options / Exclude files and Folders

Right Click Shell Extention for 'Find Target'
codeblue replied to codeblue's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Thanks clavicle, i knew i had seen it somewhere. Kelsenellenelvian shell extention will fit nicely into my nLite xpcd. Quote "(Sorry, would of used the search, but its off line)" Thanks Yzöwl, but im looking for an unattended version. -
I'm tiring to evaluate monitoring software, but Symantec AV Corporate 10.0.1.1000 keeps detecting the .exe and install files and quarantining them. Now whilst this is a good, reassuring thing, I don’t want it to happen to these specific files. Is it possible to tell Symantec AV to ignore these files whilst Auto scanning? I've looked through the options and cant find anything.

All sorted, thanks to all for your advise. Made 3 cd that autoran, but also used the pen but without autorun

bts? I have this: set answer=y set /p answer=Do you want to Shutdown PC? if not "%answer:~0,1%"=="y" goto :END ECHO Shutting down computer in 5 seconds Shutdown -s /f /t 5 /c "One step to gooooooooo............" :END But the user needs to hit enter after 'y'. Not a problem, but not ideal. Another minor issue is that the Dos screen isnt the active screen, the user needs to click in it to enter 'Y'. Is there a command to force the dos screen to become the active screen?
