  1. I do not use nor own a US Robotics Router, however, may I ask you if you have Port Forwarding enabled to the correct IP? (The one using Kazaa)
  2. I heard some people having problems with the Firewall. Try Disabling it on the computer you are trying to connect to. Open Option dialog (Click on Options in the Menu) Select 'General' tab and uncheck the 'Firewall enabled' option.
  3. Do you have both services running? RPC and RPC Locater?
  4. The Software itself is legal. It's what people do with it that isn't. I think its 'safe' enough to talk about Kazaa ... As long as it does not involve piracy and/or warez.
  5. I have found this list of Proxy software. If the computers use the server to go to the Internet, using a Proxy Server software that could filter request would be a good idea. I'm sorry for not providing a exact application, but I never used any Proxy Server software before. See if the list helps ...
  6. Good choice. I also use MKPortal because I consider it cleaner than PHP-Nuke. If you need any help let us know.
  7. Hello. I am also a student, however, studying for certifications. I started my 'path' by going heads first on Microsoft exams, not suck a bright idea. I became MCP and then I changed to CompTIA. I have A+ and Network+ and planning on taking Server+ and Security+ within a month, max. For my Microsoft path MCSE, I choosed to have classes, wich now I now is not such a good thing, as for the others (CompTIA, CISCO, CWNP) I'm doing it all by self-study. As for the Books, you can check what had the best rating on mcmcse.com site. They dont have all the certifications there, but, from what they do have, they are pretty good at giving opinions. As for the 'path' ur thinking about, I agree. I think your making the right call because, having certain combinations of CompTIA exams with Microsoft, gives you the ability of becoming MCSA Security, or even MCSA without even have to take the Microsoft exams. I suggest you ask on mcmcse.com, they can give you more precise information on how to 'merge' certifications from CompTIA to Microsoft. Hope I could help.
  8. No problem buddy. If you ever need anything else, just ask.
  9. Just to warn the Thread starter that ... Coding a complete eCommerce site is no joke. I *seriously* recommend you choose a software package already built. You can then edit, change, add or delete pretty much all you want.
  10. :S Needs some hard work on it. Why dont you give MKPortal or even PHP-Nuke a try? I guess you are coding everything 'by hand', using a Content Management System would allow much better flexibility and easy to use features that will be very hard to get using simple .HTML. You can also install a bridge on any of those CMS so that it works well with forum registrations (Posting comments could be allowed only to registered forum users). Are you using a home server or are you paying for Webhosting on a SP? If your paying for hosting, most likely you have installs of this type of software, even if you dont have them, its just extract, upload and install. Take care.
  11. Forget the voting part ...!
  12. I made a new Thread just for you! LOL (Located at General Discussion)
  13. Hello. You'r Service Provider must have cPanel (or any other form of management) that will allow you to use 'One Click Install's'. This allows you to install various kinds of Software just by using the Management console. On cPanel, you should look at Fantastico, other forms of management you should ask your SP for information. An alternative to that would be downloading the package and installing it on the server. A free package is OSCommerce. A paid version that by default comes with cPanel is CubeCart. Hope I could help.
  14. Wich Router are you using? I know some Linksys Router's have QoS options that you can manage, however, some of them [routers] need 3rd party firmware. Edit: Since you maybe using Linksys, I'll give some links already. (for WRT series) Using HyperWRT firmware, you can control bandwidth by using a startup script like this. It will limit according to IP, so maybe making reservations on the DHCP server (router) would be a good idea (or using static!).
  15. Yes. You'r right. However, it does not provide a LAN scan system, that from what I understood, is what Maleko is looking for. Making a batch file would work, but it definatly gives more work than just scanning.
  16. LOL. Good point ... However, I read a more recent article saying that afterall, Windows was not killing them. I'll search and post it here.
  17. No problem. The site is REALLY good, and if you'r looking into get Certified (Microsoft, CISCO, or some of the others), it has some great study guides and pratice exams. The forums are also full of good information and good people. As for the double post, no problem, a MOD will delete.
  18. I have other ways of protecting my WLAN. I stoped using encryption because of all the devices I used on Wireless mode (PS2, PSP, 360, Xbox, etc). I'm pretty sure the LAN is pretty secure (not bulletproff) and for the regular script kiddie, its much more than they can handle. I wrote a white paper about WLAN security for home use, but it's not in English, so I wont even bother giving you the link.
  19. ^^ Or using DSL (**** Small Linux). Thats definatly 'bloat-free'. Slackware is pretty 'clean' too. ^^ Or using DSL (**** Small Linux). Thats definatly 'bloat-free'. Slackware is pretty 'clean' too.
  20. I dont use Encryption on my WLAN (WEP or WPA), but, you can try by going to the View Available Wireless Networks screen and selecting Change the Order of Preferred Networks, choosing your Network and clicking on Properties.
  21. Making a batch file using shutdown.exe would also work good.
  22. Hi. Welcome to MSFN. I'm sure you gonna like it here. Allot of usefull information and good people. Take care.
  23. Shutdown.exe ? It will not list the computers on the Domain, however, you can make a batch file with all the computers. (Entered manually) Not a solution? Google gave me this: http://www.emco.is/remoteshutdown/rsdfeatures.html I think they have a Free Version and a Profissional Version (not free). Flash tutorial available here: http://www.emco.is/download/remoteshutdown...ctive_demo.html
  24. Making it Lite like the previous posters have said would be cool and the teacher would problably like it. Use nLite and read the Unattended Guide to make some cool stuff and to help you get a A+ grade.
