I am having a problem, I have been unable to boot into safe mode with xpize installed. It wasn't too big of a deal, as I didn't really have to. But now I have changed video cards, and the problem has become a biggg one. It seems that xpize will not show the password dialog and allow me to boot in 256 color mode. And windows won't load the new driver until I log in. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Only thing I can think of is recovery console but not sure what needs to be replaced to get it to boot? Please help using someone else computer to post.

could be anitvirus program, I use kaspersky on both my systems and it will cause a timeout when i am copying files, or browsing folders that have a lot of files, etc. Since it scans them all before I can see them.

Are you putting the compiled scriptin the same folder as the prog. it is supposed to install? It is easiest to not specify a path to the program in the script. just call it. The compiled script will search for it it the same folder it is in. So in the runonce all you have to do is give the path to the compiled script. ( no switches you are replacing switches with auto-it )

Installing Firefox First should solve the problem. I install ff before anything I want pluged in and works like a charm. using quicktime alt and real alt.

I had a similar problem. I installed simple simple tcp/ip services and seem to solve my problem. control panel>add/remove programs>add/remove windows components . under networking Hope that helps.

The Simple method of Firefox Unattended deployment
nujackk replied to `Felix`'s topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
@felix This method is great but only has one drawback, It doesn't show up in the add remove list, nor does installers like flash and roboform find it. ( probably real Player, and Quicktime will have problems as well ) But I found a way to fix it. I just run a silent install of the latest release after running this. In runonce I first run the installer I create with your method. Then I run the official release from Mozilla with the -ms switch this gets my custom install and shows up in the add remove and other installers will find it. Hope this helps -

Nforce drivers via DetachedProgram in winnt.sif
nujackk replied to nujackk's topic in Device Drivers
Sorry it took me so long to reply, but thank you, thats what i needed to know. (And I was just saying thats the only reason i wasn't using yor driver pack. You don't need to suggest it, its the obvous choice if you are making a disk that could be used on more then 1 setup. Keep up the great work ) -
The Simple method of Firefox Unattended deployment
nujackk replied to `Felix`'s topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Nevermind, I have found the issue to be my system. I copied everything to my second drive and it worked without issue. (This is why it is imperative i get my disk done soon, my current setup is quite buggy) -
The Simple method of Firefox Unattended deployment
nujackk replied to `Felix`'s topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
@Damoz Yes it does, but does not give you a custom install. The whole point of this and other guides is a custom install. But thanks. @Felix would you like me to post a copy of the !makesfx.cmd ? I really could use some help here, it seems your method would work best for me but am unable get past this problem. -
The Simple method of Firefox Unattended deployment
nujackk replied to `Felix`'s topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Hi Shak, Ok thanks for identifying the issues. I have fixed them and updated the ffstuff.exe file. You can just leave the firefox.sfx file in the same folder as your deployment files - if you want to have it in the winrar folder - just make a change to the !makeSFX.bat. If you have any other issues or questions let me know <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I am getting this same problem, and I don't seem to find a file called ffstuff.exe, where am I supposed to get it. Thx <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Try reading here <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I did that is how I got to have the same problem shak was having, and there is nothing called ffstuff in the file i downloaded from your link. when I run !makesfx.cmd i get error saying cannot open exclude.lst the system cannot find the file specified cannot open C:\program file\winrar\firefox.SFX the system cannot find the file specified. In your post to shak you say you fixed the problem and updated ffstuff.exe. I cannot find ffstuff.exe And when I copy firefox.SFX to the winrar folder. i get cannot open exclude.lst the system cannot find the file specified cannot open comment.txt the system cannot find the file specified -

Here's the problem with that statement.... I expect you to START and understand the process of batch file/runonceEX before moving on to XPlode/WPI/WIHU or similar ADVANCED methods. Since we EXPECT you to know how to start something doing setup, there is NO NEED for a repeat of it in the ADVANCED methods. Wait, that's that you're asking? What about the switches for XPlode? Well...that's what the documentation is included for. It details the switches, but we have no need to specifically say "Enter this into CMDLINES.TXT to have XPlode start during setup" as we EXPECT you to already know this once progressing to XPlode or similar. Even WPI doesn't tell you to put it in CMDLINES.TXT. Perhaps I've gone on a complete tangent to what you were trying to say, I don't know. But this is my general way of teaching and doing things. I start peopel with the basics, prior to advanced stuff. As a analogy, let's take math. It'd be like a Calculus teacher explaining how to add two numbers. They don't, they expect you to have already learned that. XML is one of the easiest languages to pick up, especially XPlode XML as it's mre of a simplified form. XML isn't really a language anyway. Just a way to store data and access it easily. We tell you to start looking at the examples, and such. By the way, you never actually responded to my other XPlode page that didn't make it into the guide? Is that helpful? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> As for your xplode page that didn't make into the guide, I thought I did respond and say it was, I aslo asked why it was not in the guide. as for the rest of the statement, the main problem is that assumptions are being made. I actually came across xplode and wpi, and this sight, by way of nlite's website. And never actually saw the guide until after much explorering. So I was put off by xplode before ever seeing a guide, thus you point doesn't work. without the guide I was able to figure out wpi and nlite( who couldn't figure out nlite right) xplode just made no sense and Plainly did show me where to start. You Asked a question I gave an answer and instead of taking an objective look at it and comming up with way to do it or just not. I get insulted what's that? that's not helping me, that not teaching me how to use it. I am coompletely self taught, I know how to read guides I can figure this out on my own, that is not the point. I simple answer the question "why do you consider xplode hard to use?" That being said you guys figure it out. I wrote it off a long time ago since I have no need for the pretty gui anyway. thx
-
No the only thing I admited was I didn't know where to start. And if you would read the entire thread, you would see that, I am admittedly code impaired, and trying to learn. So the assumption that I would know what to do just by looking at the code is silly!! I have answered the question, if you would rather insult and be smug low self esteem jerks then please feel free just don't ask the question if you can't take the answer. I would think the whole point of this thread is to find a way to make xplode not put us (us being the less coderifc amoung you gods ) off. I have said my peace, I will only look at this one more time to make note of the one's who feel the need to insult me, to be sure not to ignore them in the future.
-
The point of guides is to get past the so called common sense issue. My common sense told me to not bother with xplode, because it did not give me a way to get started! It didn't say look at the examples right from the start. ( again going back to putting in a simple how to get started section right at the begining ) My common sense said WPI is better because I could see and figure out where to get started. I try not to be rude, especially since I will probably need most of you to help me at some point, But.... Instead of being smug jerks about it, take the constructive critizism and simple add a section at the begining telling us where and how to start. How hard is that?

I'll give it a try. And one other question, do you know if not hiding the cmd window would interfere with the script? Because the first time I ran it it just sat there until i minimized the window and saw the error message behind it, had to click cancel myself. ( I kept unhidden as a way to keep track of progress as I had the batch run 2 diff files and wanted to see if both were executed)

Nforce drivers via DetachedProgram in winnt.sif
nujackk replied to nujackk's topic in Device Drivers
Well I am only making this disk for my system. So that would be fine. The main reason I asked is because so many people seem to have a problem getting them to install Properly via the OemPnPDriversPath. And i figured as long as it will run. it would install everything you needed correctly. So still the question remains can it be done? @Bashrat I do appreciate all you've done with the driver packs, but my goal is a custom disk. so no need for all those drivers. -
I was wondering since the nforce drivers install is an installshield, can I create the setup.iss file, and then just run the silent install at t39 via Detachedprogram in the winnt.sif? I realize i can't be the only one to have thought of it but so far have not found any mention of it.
-
I have a question Can I run this via the setupparams in winnt.sif. which runs at T-9 ?
-
thx echap I actually figured it out. I just created a blank txt file called cd.txt
-
Yeah that's better. why was this taken out of the guide ? It is would be alot more helpful if it were still there. I use Firefox by the way. (but won't even start that argument )
-
Except you would want to configure the XML first or Xplode will just flash. That makes sense, but i think it would be better to mention this right from the start. When I first looked at it, I had no idea what was being said and where to start. I feel a simple how to get started would go a long way toward help people understand what needs to be done to use xplode. something similar to the hello world example for batch scripting. ( a small exercise to help understand how it works, and what is required in XML) After about 20 mins reading the manual and a few searches on the forum, I decided xplode would be great when ever it got a better manual. Until then I couldn't spend the time it would require for me to understand it. ( I still don't, i just saw this thread and thought I'd add my 2cents and maybe get a manual a code impaired individual like myself could understand) p.s. when I click on the link you provided I get what looks to be html. Is this supposed to be an example of xplode xml ?
-
But I bet you have prior experience with XML and/or any other type of coding. Those of us who don't, the examples might as well be Latin. As for the manual it is written in a non user friendly manner ( again for the code impaired ) It of course should start with " How To Get Started". But as far as I can tell the part that explains how to start it is in chapter 4 I know it would take time and considerable effort, but a guide written similar to the Unattended CD/DVD guide would definantly go a long way to making it easier to understand and use. Just my 2cents
