  1. I'm making excellent progress, guys! Just tested my first game on GE...The Lord of the Rings: The Battle For Middle-earth! Worked flawlessly, and if a few other games do so as well, then the first beta won't be too far off . EDIT: Unreal Tournament 2004 works as well!
  2. @3-R4Z0R The project isn't suppose to be x86, but nothing's stopping you from not applying the x86-x64 patch . I wouldn't recommend keeping it x86 though, as Windows 2000 is more optimized for that task. Also, I'm too busy on tweaking the project to have any time to talk much about the project . Bunch of new features, though I might have to scale back on some old features because of 64-bit compatibility issues.
  3. Maybe there's some sort of copy protection?
  4. Does it take advantage of the GPU?
  5. One thing though...I doubt antivirus and firewall software will increase your system speed .
  6. Does a 64-bit operating system really increase performance at all? And if so, how?
  7. Nice computer Ripken . Did you use a Kodak Z730 to take that pic by any chance?
  8. The memory controller resides in the kernel file (ntoskrnl.exe), so I doubt this works.
  9. Photoshop? Simple enough: use the selection tool and fill your selection with a 25% gradient, then type text over it.
  10. Wondering two things. How long does it take for an average person to learn Maya starting with no knowledge of 3D? And how long would it take to produce a 2-3 minute 3D movie (excluding render time), assuming one was familiar with Maya and any other tools needed.
  11. Which screw is for the motherboard ? http://www.frozencpu.com/scan/se=Case%20Ac...enu_search.html
  12. Would it be possible to interchange video BIOS files from different manufacturers? For example, I have an MSI 7800GT with a latest BIOS version of 5.70.02.13.01. The Leadtek 7800GT comes with a BIOS version of 5.70.02.16.68. Are these interchangeable? I'm also curious of a more drastic mod. Can I exchange BIOS files between different cards, such as the 7800GT BIOS with the 7800GTX 512MB BIOS (after some changes with a video BIOS editor)? And say that my BIOS tests failed, rendering the video card corrupt. Could I reflash the BIOS without a functional (corrupt BIOS) card?
  13. What about the overclock? Is there a certain ratio for optimal performance?
  14. I was considering using the NV5, but the base of the NV5 does not make contact with the memory modules. Instead they use thick thermal pads , which wouldn't be as efficient (V-1U uses RAM sinks). Also take a look at this: http://www.legionhardware.com/Bench/Therma..._Ultra/test.gif
  15. What do you guys recommend? I decided that I absolutely need an aftermarket cooler, so I'm getting the Thermalright V1-Ultra. What would benefit my FPS more, memory or core overclock?
  16. Almost forgot to mention that I meant VGA memory .
  17. Possible without a thermal probe?
  18. Sorry for not having updated the build date for so long, but I have, in fact, been working on the project. Also do not be alarmed by the growing size, but take it as an indication of progress . Thanks.
  19. Gdogg I didn't know you had mod powers!
  20. New poll! Should I include the latest updates and betas in the update pack (Ex: DX9 December Update and IE7)?
  21. No, prathapml you're wrong! All wrong! Lol joking, but anyway that wouldn't work because XP automatically restores the correct settings on reboot. And since the settings don't apply until a reboot, then it's like you've never applied any tweaks at all.
  22. With ripken and a few others being exceptions .
  23. @Angelico_Payne When it (beta) will be available depends on my conduct for the next week or so. My new computer is nearly complete, and if I find myself anxious enough to play with it, then expect a beta within a week. Of course, that's most likely not going to happen due to my amazing ability to procrastinate . But I assure you that all that remains are three issues, two of which needn't be brought to the public's eye, and one which is how I can make it simple enough to be deployed by those hard-core gamers out there that know nothing about computers except hardware-related things.
  24. But originally, the wax thermal compound did indeed make contact. It was after I removed it and replaced it with AS-5 that the memory modules did not touch the heatsink.
  25. I'm surprised no one said this already. Happy Chinese New Year!
