excuse me but winxp sp2 is going faster and safer then xp sp1 plus updates.... and if he does not want stuff from sp2 he can use nlite.....

boot from your winxp cd and choose repair. then type help to see the commands. u can use fix mbr, delete mbr and so on...

first of all u dont have sp2. i took this from your attachments: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp1.020828-1920). sp2 final it should look like this: bla bla (2600.xpsp2.040804-2158). and i think u still have sp1 so that's why u have dx 9.0b. what u have to do: download sp2 from here sp2 download and then slipstream it into your xp cd using autostreamer or nlite and then make a clean install and that's it.

first of all u had to read the eula (license) so u can see if u can install xp on more then one pc. second u can call m$ to activate xp over the phone and u don't pay a thing. or just like u said loose everything.

kaspesky is too paranoic. it finds a lot of things but they are not there.... i tried allmost every known av but i choose symantec av corporate. very good protection not too many resources and toll now very pleased of it.

click my computer right click select view>list then go to >tools>folder option>view. here is a tab that says apply to all folders. that's it.

probabilly a virus or spyware. scan you pc and see what's up....

dude.... in first stage u extract files form mpsetup 10, then also extract some files from .cabs. and u need this files to upgrade your wmp 9 to wmp 10. this files are created in c:\i386. it is like this so it should be easy for anybody to understand to copy this files into xpcd \i386. and is not wierd at all. u have to use this tool if u want to have wmp 10 slipstreamed into your xp cd.

it replaces the files so u can upgrade to wmp 10. the files u remove from your xpcd\i386 are from wmp9.
