The v3 site is actually working, but the updates cannot be downloaded, because of dead download links. But I can check, uncheck updates, go to Support informations and more. I also can't view updates description, due to missing files in the WindowsUpdate folder.

It works on Windows 2000, XP and Server 2003. 9x and ME are too old for this patch.

@George King Yes! You can start checking for updates here: http://v5.windowsupdate.overrender.com/v5consumer/begin.aspx It's in french, but it's the developpment version of the website.

@George King this is absolutely not the same thing. We're talking about a website and you're talking about a program. The V5 website will be available soon for everyone. And when I say soon, it's really soon.

Hi! I have a Windows XP machine. I did all the steps mentionned in the guide (by @AstroSkipper), but I get now the error 0x80244004. I copied the patched wuaueng.dll, but no popup from Windows File Protection, nothing. I really need to update this computer. I copied the wuaueng.dll file from Restore_WU_XP_2003 to c:\winnt\system32 and c:\winnt\system32\dllcache (I upgraded from Windows 2000 to XP, that's why it's written WINNT). Can anyone help me please?

Hello, i was testing reinstalling Windows Update v6 on Windows 2000, and then I got error 0x80244019. And the url https://www.update.microsoft.com/v6/ClientWebService/client.asmx is dead. I get a 404. Anyone have a solution to this error ? Windows XP use https://fe2.update.microsoft.com/v6/ClientWebService/client.asmx And this url is not dead.

With V6, Windows Server 2003 is really slow to check for updates. With v5 ans sp2, it simply doesn't work.

@xpandvistafan I tried on Windows 2000 RTM, for me, it's not working. Microsoft Internet Explorer get stuck. I found a trick to get Windows Update working without changing the files each time you use Windows Update v5. I made a really quick video for that (using pictures, it would have been too long): https://download.overrender.com/content/software/other/mysoft/wu/tuto_wuv5.mp4

I think the problem for wu v3 is the ActiveX. It doesn't ask me to install the ActiveX control on my computer.
