  1. That's unfortunate, I think they only started doing this recently. We should also archive those Windows Updates still on the servers to make sure they are downloadable forever.
  2. Thanks, that now works extremely well. Unfortunately some updates do not install, what is the reason for this?
  3. That doesn't work either. It says the ident.cab file is not a trusted certificate.
  4. Finally got it working on 2000, but on my 95 installation it refuses to work. No clear error in Fiddler, all 200 status code, but it fails after requesting filever.ini, I think it's invalid for Windows 95. @WinFX Any help on this?
  5. After doing this command, I was rate limited after 10 000 or so files. Now web archive refuses to connect for me.
  6. I haven't been able to download every single thing because it takes too long. It is possible that someone here has a full archive of files that people could use instead of waiting 2 days for it to download from the web archive?
  7. Got that, but it is stuck requesting a non existent .inv file that isn't in the wayback machine.
  8. I downloaded it, but I keep getting stuck at critical components installer error. It gets pretty far, but it fails at that point.
  9. @WinFX My Windows 95 installation requests ident.cab, is that required as well?
  10. I am also having an issue where the hosts file entry is not working. When I go to windowsupdate.microsoft.com it goes to fe2.update.microsoft.com.
  11. I tried with a nt4 .cab file, and it gets further and installs the activex control, but it gets stuck at ident.cab.
  12. @WULover I am stuck at where it checks for updates. It gets stuck there, because there is a file called actsetup.cab that doesn't exist and it isn't archived, how did you get it?
  13. Actually I think it has to do with what catalog you are getting. The list of Windows Updates are stored in a catalog file. The catalog files are archived and that's the whole reason why it's working. I think you got a catalog file that does not have optional updates included in it. Try looking for a different version of the file and tell me if it shows optional updates.
  14. I expect the optional updates not showing maybe is a result of grabbing an archive that doesn't have the code to display optional updates. Also another cause could be that @maile3241 ran Windows Update v3 on 2000, while you ran it on 98. But this again is great news and hopefully we can get some of the problems sorted out soon.
  15. This here is excellent news even if it's a Work in Progress. On the critical updates, does it just show the same critical updates over and over even after installing them? Or does the update disappear from the critical updates list after installation? @Dave-H What do you think of this news?
  16. Yes, 9x updates are nt4 updates are still on Microsoft's servers. Example: http://download.microsoft.com/download/win98/Update/3111/W98/EN-US/236926USA8.EXE. Some are also on download.windowsupdate.com, although they are harder to find. http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3-19990518/cabpool/Windows98-KB896358-ENU_c5723e17767d92f28912f0c368525bc.EXE. This is one from the download.windowsupdate domain.
  17. Well again, Windows 9x updates and NT 4 updates are still on Microsoft servers, but you have to dig for them. If you install that update manually, does it still show that same update?
  18. Are these updates for Windows NT 4.0 actually current updates or are they hardcoded?
  19. Can you send the screenshot of some of the 404 url's in Fiddler? That would help us pinpoint the issue of why the 404 errors are happening.
  20. I know that, but what is the dead url link? Many older Windows 2000 updates were deleted from 1 Microsoft url but not from the other.
  21. Can you post one of those dead links here? 9x updates are still up, but on a different url.
  22. I wonder how long they will keep IE11 in Windows 11 considering how IE has been unsupported since June 15.
  23. Eventually I will expect Microsoft will block the older version of OneDrive and force you to upgrade to the latest version. As if more versions of VxKex will be released, I am not sure, as development had been put on hold temporarily in April. You can follow the VxKex thread and updates will be posted there. As far as I know, the latest interim release of VxKex does in fact work with the latest version of OneDrive. With the most current OneDrive installer, do you get the same SetThreadInformation error?
