  1. Why not ReactOS? Win7 is so far away from WinXP... Thanks! It's only based on hand-coded HTML and CSS except one JavaScript part (Matomo website statistics), also it has a PHP fallback. Apart from this there are few pages with JS from c't Shariff and very few pages with some small hand-coded PHP. The whole JS is not necessary for displaying the content in full quality. Can't say that about NM27 on my Thinkpad T60 with Core 2 Duo T5600 (Merom) and 1 GiB RAM with dozens to hundreds of tabs open (the very most not loaded) - after some clicking it get's overloaded. kind regards soggi
  2. Exactly, that's the problem in the very most cases - I hate this bloated BS! My website can be used on Win9x w/o any problem and probably with Win3.11 and even under DOS (didn't test this). kind regards soggi
  3. Updated mirror with latest BNavigator, MailNews, New Moon 27 / 28 and Serpent 52 builds. kind regards soggi
  4. Finally, I made a compromise out of this all...for BNavigator and MailNews I took the versioning from application.ini. kind regards soggi
  5. But this is also inconsistent...PM27 only says Version=27.9.7 BuildID=20201106031431 So the date is always needed for the specific versioning. Maybe a little hint @roytam1 to add unique version numbers to every build (like adding a build [bxyz] or release [Rxyz] number after the specific version and including it into the archives file name - there are lots of possibilities). It would be nice, if this would be standardized / unified. BTW one example... The versioning of Fiferfox 45ESR is very good, the sub-sub-version climbs up with every build (i.e. from 45.9.29 to 45.9.30 last time). kind regards soggi
  6. Uhhh...thx for your attention on that, fixed it instantly! In general, @roytam1hopefully will find some sort of good versioning (for all forks) - i.e. BNavigator and MailNews even don't have any version, so I have to use the date code. BTW I still have the plan to exclude roytam1's builds to an extra page like I did with the Intel/Ligos codecs - so there's more space to explain things. kind regards soggi
  7. Thanks @roytam1 for finally fixing the JS bug concerning heise.de and YT! BTW the mirror has been updated with the latest versions of BNavigator, MailNews, New Moon 27, New Moon 28 and Serpent 52 -> soggi.org - tools. kind regards soggi
  8. Nice to hear about that, thanks! I'll test it with the next build. kind regards soggi
  9. I was also asking myself... But I don't know what other people do with their hardware...my fastest (working) rig is a C2D with 4 GiB and Win7, but not used very often...mostly I'm on the T5600 with 1 GiB RAM. kind regards soggi
  10. The pop-up "Warning: Unresponsive Script" has nothing to do with a crash - it always occurs in Mozilla based browsers, if there's not enough CPU time (and maybe RAM) to execute one or more scripts within a critical time frame. I get this message for years (w/o a crash) on several pages which are heavily based on JS, no matter if I use FF 52, PM 26.5 or NM27/28. kind regards soggi
  11. But you didn't mention, that you tested again under WinXP x86... ...whatever, I don't want any displeasure here - let's go on! I noticed you have a relatively recent CPU (i7-4770) and no PAE, the CPUs in my machines are older and have PAE (see screenshots below). This is not an option and doesn't solve the problem, especially on other websites. Thanks for testing again! Yes, the crash occurs on all video pages (not start page and search) on YT. The Édith Piaf "video" was just the first that I took a look of (within another context). Good to hear you could reproduce the crashes...however it's strange the related code wasn't changed for a considerable time. Take your time, hopefully you'll find a solution! Congratulations, but I don't think this is the key as I don't get this message. kind regards soggi
  12. Added BNavigator, MailNews, Serpent 52 and Serpent 55 to the mirror -> soggi.org - tools! On the last page you said that the screenshot is from your XP x64 build... ...and you still didn't test YT. We'll see if there is anyone else with this problem. Kind regards soggi
  13. @VistaLover Thank you very much for the clarification! Thanks for testing! Could you please also test YT, i.e. Édith Piaf - Non, Je ne regrette rien. The problem is, you didn't test under the same conditions - XP x64 instead of XPSP3 POSReady. And which version of NM27 have been tested with? So the value of your result is at least questionable. And if it isn't available there for any reason, you can also get it from my page (soggi.org - tools) @greenhillmaniac. kind regards soggi
  14. Ähm...no...until now it's just you and me...no one else answered until now, you know what I mean!? And you even don't have WinXPSP3 POSReady. I also tried with all add-ons disabled...same result (add-ons screenshot below). kind regards soggi
  15. Which version of NM27 did you test and was JS allowed or not? Tested it again...with two profiles...still crashes (on both). Edit: Tested it on another machine...first I thought everything is OK...than I saw, that NoScript blocked all JS, so I activated JS just for the domain "heise.de" (no external)...and *badabing* after some loading NM27 20201031 crashed again. Ergo there has been made some kind of change to the JS engine which causes this. Edit2: Maybe more important to most of you: NM27 (SSE2) also crashes when playing YT...not on the start page or within search, only on a specific video page (i.e. Édith Piaf - Non, Je ne regrette rien) - it plays video and sound, but there is some JS loading later which mades NM27 crash. Edit3: Finally I reverted back to NM27 SSE2 202010324, for now...hopefully this issue can be fixed. kind regards soggi
  16. I will mirror the new versions in the next minutes/hours... It seems you forgot to replace the copy & paste with the right link for the Win64 version, also on your blog. Edit: Latest NM27 causes reproducible crashes when opening the important German IT portal www.heise.de (see attached screenshot) and when playing a video on YouTube (i.e. Édith Piaf - Non, Je ne regrette rien) - build 20201024 from last week works. -> Finally I reverted back to NM27 SSE2 202010324, for now...hopefully this issue can be fixed. Additional information: NM27 normal (SSE2) version, JS allowed, tested on two WinXPSP3 POSReady 2009 "hacked" machines. Edit2: I also want to mirror the other builds, but I'm very confused by their names. What does "BOC", "HBL" or "UXP" mean, for example? original name -> fork name Pale Moon -> New Moon Basilisk 52 -> Serpent (UXP) Basilisk 55 -> Serpent (moebius) MailNews -> BOC??? BNavigator -> BOC??? IceDove -> HBL??? IceApe -> HBL??? Is the name schema above correct? Did I forget something? Edit3: Added the latest builds of New Moon 27 / 28 to soggi.org - tools. kind regards soggi
  17. I don't know what you're talking about... I think software with bugs / performance issues / security flaws fixed is better than not fixed software...so also Notepad++ with a fixed file loading bug would be better than a not fixed version, though it doesn't concern my own workflow. kind regards soggi
  18. Naaahh...that's disillusioning. :( I hate this "fading out" of support...there are often more and more bugs and no "final version" or such until a certain software is completely unusable. My imagination of an ending support of a software for a certain OS is, that there are still bug fixes...but I also know that either the required man-power and/or the interest in it (due to different reasons) is missing. Not satisfying... kind regards soggi
  19. Ähm...that's kind of OT, but I want to answer, though. I don't use either way to open files, I only open files via drag'n'drop - there are no file type associations to Notepad++ (don't want to open Notepad++ to just view a simple readme.txt or something similar). First I would try to reproduce this behavior with a second machine (and maybe a third). If it is reproduceable, I would contact the programmer. In case of contacting the programmer, I would also tell him that there is a certain community using WinXP and that many people appreciate Notepad++ still supports it. kind regards soggi
  20. Mirror of FF 45ESR and New Moon 26.5 / 27 / 28 updated! -> https://soggi.org/misc/tools.htm You're welcome! I don't install every version, so I didn't recognize that there was a problem. This also happened to other software in the past. I.e. the WinSCP installer doesn't work anymore under WinXP...you have to use the portable version. kind regards soggi
  21. Beside the FF 45ESR and New Moon 26.5 / 27 / 28 versions on my website, I also have some others on my HDD: basilisk52-g4.6.win32-git-20201003-ef27fbe-uxp-15acac52b-xpmod.7z basilisk52-g4.6.win32-git-20201003-ef27fbe-uxp-15acac52b-xpmod-ia32.7z basilisk55-win32-git-20200919-a4291d5cc-xpmod.7z basilisk55-win64-git-20200919-a4291d5cc-xpmod.7z bnavigator.win32-20201003-355db4de-uxp-15acac52b-xpmod.7z iceape.win32-20201003-id-eed0566-ia-41157bf-uxp-15acac52b-xpmod.7z icedove.win32-20201003-id-eed0566-uxp-15acac52b-xpmod.7z KM76.3.1-Goanna-20201003.7z mailnews.win32-20201003-355db4de-uxp-15acac52b-xpmod.7z retrozilla-suite-tls12-20200131.7z ...if needed. Let's wait, what roytam1 says to my offer. That's wrong! The latest version still supports Windows XP, I run Notepad++ 7.9 myself without a problem on it. kind regards soggi
  22. @roytam1: If you need help (uploading possibility) in the meanwhile, let me know...I could create an account for that. This is what I can do to say "Thanks for your browser builds!". So you would have the time to do the search for an appropriate provider. kind regards soggi
  23. It wasn't me who asked, it was @x_orange90_x. I myself am pleased with NM27 (except the missing Wayback Machine time line bar, the missing language pack is bearable). Actually I also have eight addons installed, but only need six of them (Adblock Latitude, Cache Status, Html Validator, NoScript, Vacuum Places Improved, Versions (wfx_versions)) - the other two (DownThemAll!, User Agent Switcher) aren't very important. Maybe I should add some cookie manager and maybe I should add some add-ons to my page, as the archive for old add-ons vanished sometime ago. @VistaLover: Thanks for the info - it was also my thought, that this is caused by modern JS and stuff. Hopefully there is a way...else I have to change to NM28. BTW: roytam1's server seems to be down again!? kind regards soggi
  24. Hardcore! And nice! I would like to have two monitors...maybe one day. I like the good old 4:3 ones and have a NEC MultiSync LCD 2180UX...with a second one would likely use the pivot function to work on my website project and for just reading. But I run NM27 with hundreds of tabs...searching for old BIOSes, drivers, game patches and manuals requires this. Thanks, but I won't do that. I'm OK with the latest NM27, apart from the missing language pack and even more the not loading/working time line bar when using the Wayback Machine, the latter is quite annoying - maybe @roytam1can do something concerning this. Sorry, but...LOL!? Actually I'm using a IBM/Lenovo T60 with Intel Core 2 Duo T5600, Intel GMA 950, 1 GiB RAM and a relatively slow Toshiba MK8034GSX HDD. When I have used too many tabs of the hundreds opened ones or used a few (or sometimes just one) for PHP/JS bloated websites (keyword: WordPress, I hate it...), often I have to close and restart NM27 for "normal" use. Nah...if it's kind of usable, I prefer to take the latest build. A working German language pack would be nice to have, but I'm OK with English. When it comes to OS, it's OK for me to take an older one (because I like pre WinVista much more), but a browser is more critical...and therefor I also use NoScript and Adblock Latitude to have a minimum of extra security - through my searches for my website I have to visit many, many different websites and some of them are at least questionable/dubious. kind regards soggi
  25. With "alot of tabs" I mean dozens to hundreds. ;-) In this case NM27 was much more responsive than NM28 on a A64 3000+ / 1 GiB. With just five tabs, you're right! kind regards soggi
