  1. Hmm. I have noticed that the context menu does not show up on about:blank or chrome://newtab/ but it does show up when on an actual web site. This could be an upstream difference that landed in build 2036?
  2. Reversing does bring back "Translate to English" here. You may need to launch and exit a couple times after making that reversion. Also, make sure nothing in your setup is blocking access to translate.googleapis.com.
  3. Beta release. Ungoogled. WebGL enabled. Embedded translation disabled. XP skin. Has not been rebased yet. https://www.dropbox.com/s/hi6oqw8s1qra1t1/360ChromePortable_13.5.2036_r1_ungoogled_beta.zip?dl=1
  4. There is a known "nuance" with the telemetry blocking methods of previous releases (including Humming Owl releases [I see dozens of these zero-length attempts in Humming Owl releases, only these two in my releases]). No DNS connections are made with the previous blocking methods (including Humming Owl releases), but some LOCAL proxies (such as Proxomitron) still "sees" the blocked connection.
  5. Preliminary beta completed, testing in-process. Unsure if will be able to upload this weekend or not.
  6. You could install VirtualBox and then install an XP guest. I have to do this with several CAD programs that I still use from the XP Era that do not install in Win10. I personally use a very old version of VirtualBox and dislike all newer versions. Though I'm sure there will come a day where this old version won't fit my needs. The version I run is 4.3.28.
  7. This site (MSFN) is relevant. The moderator (Tripredacus) is suggesting that you start a new topic/thread. Since you are referring to programs that span two main categories (one category is Win10, the second category is Win7), then perhaps the "general" category is a good place to start a new topic? You should see a "Start new topic" button at the top of any page when you are logged in.
  8. Greetings, msfntor. Your question is more difficult than it may seem - "answers" may appear to "take sides" because there are two "sides" to your question. Most MSFN members (myself included) are not going to want to "take sides" in answering your enquiry. I kind of see "both sides" - and to me, both sides are "correct" and both sides are also "incorrect". How can BOTH be true? Reminds me of an old Latin poem - "Ode et Amo - I hate her and I love her, You ask how can that be, I don't know, But it is so, And I'm in agony." On one side, MSFN is a "technical board" where like-minded members migrate towards and become members to share technical tidbits - you fit among that subset of society. "Birds of a feather flock together", so to speak. This is the "general" section of this forum - most "topical" forums have these, a section where topics that do not pertain to the "central premise" of the forum's existence does permit "non-topical" discourse. All forum owners have the ownership-right to include such a "general" section - or to not include such a "general" section. MSFN's owner has chosen to include such a "general" section. MSFN's owner has the ownership-right to remove the "general" section if the owner so chooses. On the other side, like-minded members may not fully agree with the owner's decision to include a "general" section or have their own thoughts on how frequent that "general" section may or may not be. The "general" section here at MSFN is (by far, if I may add) a LOT more "frequent" than most topical forum's "general" section. Does that offset the owner's ownership-right of chosing to include such a section? Does that warrant frequent chime-ins from the masses to attempt to decrease that frequency? Should these attempts be seen as micromanaging the "general" section? If there were "rules" regarding this frequency, shouldn't the rest of us trust the moderation of this forum and conclude to ourselves that "high frequency" posters would be banned for violating some MSFN "fair use" unwritten rule? To me, and I am not taking sides here because I see both sides, but to me, the simple fact that the "general" section has not been removed coupled with the simple fact that frequent posters are not banned, tells me that there is no wrong-doing here. So post away, my friend, this is the "general" section and it is not for any of us to micromanage - I do remind though that the forum owner can opt to remove the "general" section (I feel that may be extreme, but nor is that "my" decision to make). But I will also add that I do LOCALLY "micromanage" MSFN. My Proxomitron config has a "keyword" filter whereby I can "hide from view" (out of sight, out of mind) any topics here that I don't want to see (Start Is Back, XP firewalls, XP anti-virus, extended kernels, Windows 7, "general" topics that go awry, et cetera). It is not my right to micromanage them from being posted. That's my two cents, agree or disagree, that's what makes the world go round
  9. I've kind of learned to "redefine" my preference toward XP (which I know is not going to last forever). I no longer define XP as "the best" but rather as "clean and without clutter". We all think of 10 and 11 as "bloatware" but it digs much deeper - remove the bloat and it still doesn't pass our inspection. Organize and remove the "clutter" and now we have an OS that can carry us into the next decade. I don't do the whole "Start Is/All Back" routine, there are other ways to clean the clutter and get 10 to a more manageable and ergonomic eXPerience. But the whole "Start Is/All Back" is exactly the same paradigm - return to a more manageable and ergonomic eXPerience.
  10. I did a triple-boot between XP x64 SP2, 7 Enterprise, and LTSB 2016 for about two years. It didn't really help me in the long run and only "held me back" because I would always always always boot into Old And Familiar instead of truly giving New a real chance. It was only when I turned the laptop into 10 and only 10 did it truly take off.
  11. It's always a gigantic sigh of relief when options.html inside options.zip is finally completed.
  12. Agreed! Windows went downhill FAST when "metro app KIDDY GAMES" took over! I'll revisit over the weekend or so, but I seem to think that LTSB 2015 wouldn't let me install TurboTax a couple years back, have not verified with recent editions of TurboTax. Very likely .net framework dependencies which took me a while to get correct in my LTSB 2016 so I may have given up too soon on LTSB 2015 when I was trying it.
  13. The Luna Olive Green and Silver skins would both seem to be fairly easy - once time permits. Unsure on the Aero Trans Brushed Metal - I dislike "aero" and disable it on OSes that it pertains to. Aero is not "native" to XP, to the best of my knowledge, though I suspect it has been backported as making XP look like 7 used to be a "big thing" on many forums. Aero also doesn't exist in 10 or 11 - again, to the best of my knowledge. While it may be an order of "semantics", 10 does have a "transparency" effect but that's not really the same as "aero". I'm not a fan of "transparent" and "blurry" toolbars either. I want crisp and clear, not blurry and distorted. "To each their own", as the saying goes.
  14. I learned the speed-up-then-coast back when "hypermiling" was a big thing. One of my "favorite" things to do is see a RED LIGHT over half a mile up the road and take my foot off the gas and coast the entire half mile.
  15. Not really. Will depend largely on what version of Win10 you use. I prefer 2016 LTSB and WinReducerEX100. Other versiosn of Win10 will require much more, things like PowerShell scripts to get rid of "metro" bloat. I'm technically only about 90% in on my Win10 migration as I have encountered a small snag with .net frameworks being enabled out-of-the-box directly after install.
  16. How often do you see the "Win2k-basic-gray"? How often is the 360Chrome styling/skinning "above" versus "below"? Do you know the height of the "Win2k-basic-gray" title bar and did you decrease this height? Just curious in case I revisit a possible Win2k Theme.
  17. Perfect example of why I never allow/enable ANY of my software to "update" itself.
  18. I think you might be right. With very limited testing, rebuild 6 is HALF A POINT "faster" than rebuild 8 per Speedometer 2.1.
  19. The not rebased will launch faster after a hibernate or reboot (first and only first launch, every consecutive launch is not affected). Web site rendering speed is not affected.
