FAN. always a fan. the silent ones are if you want it to be silent, but you still need proper airflow over the heatsink.
-
well thats my cpu temp in the winter. right now im at ~32C. gpu 42C, 2 hdds both at ~33C. thats what alot of 120m fans will do, i have them on med/low speeds and can barely hear them. its prolly my heatsink also, i had to use soo much force to get it on that i cut my hand up pretty bad. the contact its making is prolly amazing compared to other heatsink ive but on mobos where its so simple to but them on, doesnt seem like theres much pressure at all with those.

.htaccess issues
ripken204 replied to Idontwantspam's topic in Web Development (HTML, Java, PHP, ASP, XML, etc.)
its definatly not pretty, i never said it was thats the last of my worries. ill get that done during the summer. basically i had to get all of the coding done to make things happen, that is basically all done now so now its time to get to the design. ya i will be getting rid of those frames. i dont like frames either. ill get it into a table with some php includes. no personal website. ive always wanted to do one but i have no clue what to put on it.. and the only part of the site i didnt make was the home page. i have 40+ pages in the whole site, lots of admin related stuff. mostly php+mysql. the main point of the site is to make is 10000% times easier for my coach to get the entries into a meet. he's the meet timer. it also makes it alot easier for coaches. if you guys have any suggestions on design, please let me know. i really have till november to get this done. this site was meant for indoor track for the upcoming winter. but i decided to get a head start on it and i got it up in time to use for some outdoor meets. -

.htaccess issues

http://www.anhosting.com/ been using it for a couple months now. i read around lots of review sites and this host was just unebnatable. the whole package is just insane for the small price. i see no possible way for me to come anywhere close to using all of my space or bandwidth. there are also some coupons around on google for 3 free months.. -
.htaccess issues
ripken204 replied to Idontwantspam's topic in Web Development (HTML, Java, PHP, ASP, XML, etc.)
lol, good idea. my webhost allows the creation of .htaccess folders, did you try doing it thru an ftp program? -
ya i read about this a few days ago, i cant wait for this to become a standard. imagine how easy school would be with all your books in 1 sheet of "paper"

URL/HTML page verification

well im just curious. why do you have the user typing in a page and clicking on a button? you should restrict the user to certain pages and have links to those pages. -

Laptop to be powered on for two weeks... Good or bad?
ripken204 replied to gamehead200's topic in Hardware Hangout
ya it was definatly nice when i figured to raise it up. even on a wooden table if i use the laptop for an hour, the table would be insanely hot. but since this is like a 5yr old laptop, i guess it would make sense. -
How to get FTP://
ripken204 replied to xtremee's topic in Web Development (HTML, Java, PHP, ASP, XML, etc.)
a paid webhost is just soo much better! great speeds too, im getting 1000+kb/s. i have basically an unlimited amount of space+bandwidth also. for 5$ a mont its not a bad deal. -
URL/HTML page verification
ripken204 replied to Sean1978's topic in Web Development (HTML, Java, PHP, ASP, XML, etc.)
so why exactly are you having this problem? do you have lots of buttons going nowhere? if so you should find out why and fix it. if you can edit your 404 file you could have it automatically bring you back to the page you were just at. -
PHP, Mysql, Apache
ripken204 replied to techywiz2007's topic in Web Development (HTML, Java, PHP, ASP, XML, etc.)
just as he said. same goes for mysql.com as for apache, theres nothing to learn, its just the program that runs the server. i find it hard to just learn something without having a purpose. do you have a particular site that you want to make? -
those are pretty high for idle. im usually at 28C while idle and rarely get over 40C, definatly not 50C unless im stress testing it. you using AS5?
-
nice. so what temps are you getting? if you get past 60C i would start to get worried. what heatsink do you have?

.htaccess issues
ripken204 replied to Idontwantspam's topic in Web Development (HTML, Java, PHP, ASP, XML, etc.)
it all depends on the web host. do you have ftp access? if so then you should easily be able to find the .htaccess file in there. my webhost allows me to edit my .htaccess files and 404 page, my 404 page edit is through a control panel, so either check in there or just make your own and upload it. -
sure you cant go higher? my 160 is at 2600 1.45v, i got a crappy one but its also a much older one.. have you tried going over 250mhz bus speed? if you have and you keep getting problems, there was something i had to change in my BIOS for that, cant quite remember what it was tho. i basically stopped overclocking when my voltage wouldnt make a difference anymore.

Difference between 320 mb and 640 mb?
ripken204 replied to Messerschmitt's topic in Hardware Hangout
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814130071 330$ for an evga 8800gts 640mb, i dont see how you can go wrong there. -
lol, if you dont plan on getting it till september then why ask now? by then the 8800gtx/gts would have been out for about a year and hopefully the 8900 series will be out. it better be out by then..
-
the results for ati's new card are out now, and its not that impressive. and i did recommend an 8600 gt/gts to him.. but if he had his mind on spending another 200$... why not have a card that will last a very long time.

Using Word to make a offline site
ripken204 replied to balronuk's topic in Web Development (HTML, Java, PHP, ASP, XML, etc.)
well how is your gallery set up? do you have thumbnails on a main page which link to the bigger picture? or do you have the actual picture on the main page but set them all to a resulution that you decided?
