  1. i personally like both, but at certain periods of time i prefer one over the other. for that last 2 years till now ive loved amd over intel. now i think ill be liking intel better, just b/c of how good the conroe is going to be. but now we have to wait another year or two for am3, ddr3, 65nm, and k8l to come out.
  2. hmm.. socketed gpu. ive never heard of this before and doing some research on it is getting me very interested. this is a very cool idea and im sure that amd+ati will get it done within the next few years.
  3. i tried that out a while ago and i hated it, absolutly hated it. making that new layout/tooldbar is just stupid. they say its suppose to be easier but they have had the same layout for over 10 years. now they decide to change it! so its either office 2003 or openoffice.
  4. but i still prefer a good old computer over a console... so im not buying either
  5. ya its true, not that much faster. but it does have support for when the 65nm processors come out and support for am3.
  6. try uninstalling all of office and doing a custom install of it where u only install word
  7. ya 2x7600gt's are faster, but its the future u need to think about. 2x7900gt would crush it
  8. well i hope that he knew well enough to overclock the cpu with the ram on a divider..
  9. oblivion ran almost prefrect for me on full settings except outside battles it kinda lagged
  10. its definetly faster and more responsive, i can tell u that. but dont pirate it
  11. and s754 is getting towards the end of its life too. am2 is so cheap, u can get a 60$ sempron and a 70$ board and 80$ ram. and be futureproofred.
  12. ya i saw those and just started laughing
  13. aa=antialiasing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-aliasing af=anisotropic filtering http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anisotropic_filtering
  14. well this is all ur decision. if you plan on getting vista when it comes out then just wait for vista. i dont plan on getting vista until a year after it comes out, just so that there are pleanty of 64bit drivers for it and for all the bugs to be worked out. i would just stay with 32bit if i were u, no need to go and buy it and in a few months buy vista. i got my 64bit for free with microsofts promotional upgrade when 64bit first came out.
  15. download everest and monitor your temps while playing. also update to the latest video card driver.
  16. im not sure about the best sbut its definetly top 3 for me. now that game i couldnt only do 8xaa and 8x af. 16xaa just seemed kinda laggy...
  17. ive beat fear and oblivion. oblivion may be the best game of all time. the hdr on it is great.
  18. you can go for asus, but most ppl suggest evga and xfx. asus is still good tho. the 7900gt problems were from a few months back, all the manufacturers should have fixed them by now. thx for the compliment have fun with ur comp.
  19. the TOP is overclocked out of the box, so it will be faster, but u can just overclock the standard card if u care at all. but thats for asus i prefer xfx over asus
  20. the 7900gt comes with a dvi to vga adapter and again, looking at those benchmarks, the 2 options are pretty much the same. but the 7900gt will look better due to it having more pipelines. and u can go sli in the future.
  21. most games dont even need most than 256mb of memory. i have a 7800gt and i can run all games at full settings and most games with 16xaa abd 8xaf. http://www.motherboards.org/reviews/hardware/1597_6.html this is the only review i could find that compared both of them. the 7900gt is slightly better than 2x7600gs. and that even gives you the option to go sli later on.
  22. so when word is open ur system gets laggy? or juse the mouse? very strange. is this a legal version of office? maybe u should try out openoffice.
  23. just delete the norton protected files. i think u can also disable that protection.
  24. ya, 512mb is not important at all. go for the 256mb 7900gt. and for ur hdd, not all 7200.10 's are perpendicual ST3250620AS this 250gig model is tho i like ur new idea about ur hdds there, but raid1 is pretty usless for most ppl. when was the last time a hdd died on you? and u can just backup important data. other than that ur looing fine.
