  1. @loblo This subtopic I know comes up frequently, but I still am interested to know: Are there any people who are testing newer browsers on 9X? I like Opera 12 but what about 12.16/17? When I tried both the following message came up before I could install: "Failed to load opera.dll because the specified procedure could not be found." Is there a workaround? Kexstubs? UPX, maybe?
  2. I have tried junior600's method on kernel32.dll, and it worked, but FF7, which the EXE of it only needed that DLL, still called for a missing function, Getprocessiocounters. It could be an external file.
  3. Opera 10.10 can't run youtube easily anymore, it's just all around glitchy. Opera 9.64 and 10.63 are ok for youtube. I prefer 10.63.
  4. Is there any hope of getting Firefox 13+ running with UPX? I am interested since I would like to use a newer browser. Opera 12.02 is good but is starting to get old. It's just a simple MSVCR100.dll error so it should be fixable.
  5. I am downloading windows 8.1 now and will also get Update 1 soon, to try it out for a couple days and see what I think of it. Also, if I get an ISO of Windows 8 from Digital River, I will need a product key, if I understood correctly? As well, my question was, where do I locate my official product key on a Windows 8 PC? I don't believe this is an OEM license, so it may not be embedded with the hardware.
  6. Hello, I have had a PC with Windows 8 for 6 months already, and I cannot stand it. I tried to like Windows 8, but I couldn't. So, I am planning to replace it with another operating system, like Ubuntu Linux or Windows 2000. However, if my replacement OS fails, I would rather use Windows 8 than have no working PC. Getting to my point, I was wondering if anyone knew 2 things. 1, How do I create an installation disk from a preinstalled Windows 8 system, and 2, where are product keys located in Windows 8. Thank you.
  7. Since you have extended Kernel, here is how to get those installers running: 1. Download KDW from here: http://www7.atwiki.jp/win2000/pages/17.html 2. Extract the folder. Copy fcwin2k.exe to your desktop or another location where you will remember it will be. 3. Launch fcwin2k.exe. Drag the media player classic installer on the first textbox that says "File:" 4. Click "RunCompat". The installer will run. 5. Repeat for VLC. Both apps run perfectly on unofficially updated Windows 2000, yet their installers won't. I tried this method myself and it worked well.
  8. ok. Hope you can get it tested with UURollup soon. I tried FF30 yesterday and it works just as good as FF29. Latest flash is OK but I don't recommend using any addons (except maybe Adblock Plus). They really slow Firefox down. Also, in addition to UUrollup, I recommend using Blackwingcat's Fcwin2k.exe. It allows many apps to install and run, including MSI installers and the iTunes exe files. To do that, download the following: http://www7.atwiki.jp/win2000/pages/17.html. Extract it, and paste fcwin2k.exe to the desktop. That's all you need. I recommend deleting the rest of the folder. It is not necessary.
  9. I have had FF 29 working flawlessly on W2K for over a month. Don't use addons as they really slow down the browsers on W2K. Haven't tried FF30 yet. Also, maybe you should install Windows 2000 in virtualbox so you can use it too.
  10. Guys, when I try to reach the KernelEx wiki "compatible applications" category I get the following error message: http://kernelex.sourceforge.net/wiki/Category:Compatible_applications Click on the link to see it. This has been a problem since I knew about KernelEx, which was last summer. I thought it was a temporary error, so I did nothing about it. But now that I still see the error, I was wondering if anyone here could fix it. Thanks.
  11. Using these custom-made apps I've tested in the past month, they appear not to start so I think I may use regular, un-tweaked applications for testing with the following method. Thank you very much.
  12. Is UURollup still being updated? Just curious.
  13. I didn't call the games mindless. I've only ever played the CoD games, so I guess my reply was a bit judgemental. However, my only intent wax to sum up the videos, and that's what I saw in the videos. I'll bet those games are great to some people. I've played CoD: World at war, and I don't mind it, but it's not my favorite. The Xbox/PS3 appear to be better for battle games. However, out of the 3, the Wii is the youngest, so in my mind it should be supported the longest. I think the Wii should get the internet back so it could be used for what it does best (racing, sports), but if gamers want to play battle games, use another platform. I respect your opinion fully. I was just stating mine.
  14. That is very true, and great videos on my insight of why Nintendo, and the recent Nin console failing will be provided below. Viewer be warned though you may not like, or accept the truth. EDIT: An other video which ties in with the top two and concludes them To sum up, most hit video games nowadays are shooting games and mindless sequels to games such as Call of Duty, Assassin's creed and Battlefield. However, Nintendo's games are original and innovative half the time, and gamers don't seem to want that, unfortunately. So, while the CoD developers are getting million$ of $$$$$$, Nintendo is failing. However, they don't need to take it out on us, the people who still use the Wii. Why not just lower the $300 that Nintendo charges for the Wii U, or include a free wii remote & Nunchuck with WiiUs, so people would be inclined to buy a WIIU? And let us play wii online in peace? Infact, I might contact Nintendo and try to get them to promote the WiiU some other way.
  15. Hello, Recently I have tried playing a Nintendo Wii game, Mario Kart Wii, online, As I was always able to. However, before I could connect, I got a nasty message saying that the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection service has been discontinued. By looking at this link: http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/info/en_na/services-update.jsp , it appears that Nintendo has discontinued all online in-game features for many Wii, DS and DSi games. The following link provides a full list:http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/gameslist/en/games-wifi.jsp . Personally, I find this somewhat greedy on Nintendo's part. Who here would like if Microsoft blocked out all internet access on Windows 98/95/ME/2000/XP/Vista just because they are older. It would not be nice seeing messages like "Your software is out of date. Please upgrade to a more reliable operating system, like Windows 8.1, to use the internet." Now getting back to the point, I was wondering if anyone knew of any workarounds. All help is appreciated. PS: I did not mean to offend Nintendo. I was simply stating my opinion. Thanks
  16. Well, looking at this, Here is the URL for the Chrome tool. You can also use it to install Iron and Komodo Dragon. Here is the URL: http://blog.livedoor.jp/blackwingcat/archives/360097.html Hope you can get your Windows 2000 fixed. If you have any important files that can be and haven't been backed up, I'd suggest you do so, Then, completely reinstall Win2K over your crashed PC.
  17. Not KernelEx (Windows 98/ME). Blackwingcat's extended kernel: http://blog.livedoor.jp/blackwingcat/archives/1299806.html Scroll down to the bottom of the page (ver. 24G) and download that. There is also UURollup for Windows 2000, but that hasn't been updated since January. For either one, you need SP4 & update roll up 1 (or USP 5.1).
  18. Junior600 and I are already integrating W2K/XP APIs into certain applications, so they can run on Windows NT 4.0. We are mainly doing Firefox for now, but I have tried other apps, like VLC,Chrome, Opera, OpenOffice and Thunderbird. I will likely test even more. If you want to currently use NT 4 without the latest apps: -IrfanView Great program for viewing images. Install the plugins and you may also use it as a media player. -Miranda IM Open source instant messenger still compatible with NT 4. -OpenOffice.org 2.4.3 Apps won't natively work, but open vcl680mi.dll in hex editor and overwrite "EnumDisplayMonitors" with "EnumDesktopsA" and replace extra characters with NULs. Also, I know Java 1.5.05 works on NT 4.0. Other versions may work, but I haven't tried them. -Flash 9.0.280 Check out Flash 9.0.280 for NT 4 thread. -Opera 10.63 Web browser that works well on NT 4.0. 90-95% of sites show pretty well. -Thunderbird 2.0.0.24 Good email client for NT 4.0. If webmail isn't good enough. By the way, thanks for your offer! If this tool doesn't exist in a couple years, we could make it together if we are still interested. I don't know much about c++, and as far as I know, it is quite complicated. As far as I know, however, you can target the GetVersionEx to display the Windows version, which you could probably also list in the application.
  19. Yes. However, I wasn't thinking of integration of APIs into it. It may end up as an extension to KernelEx on 98/ME. I am also integrating New DLLS/APIs into NT 4 currently, and also assisting junior600 in this, yet I don't know how to get most applications to run on NT 4.0, as they don't always start, so this potential project could also link with those.
  20. Hello, Forgive me if this is the wrong category for posting this kind of thread, but I took my best guess. I know that this partially exists in Windows 98/ME already, as part of KernelEx. However, while it is useful, KernelEx doesn't allow every app to run. For example: iTunes, apps that falsely claim "not a valid Win32 application". I was wondering if anyone could create a compatibility mode launcher for the Win32 operating systems. Some of my main targets are: Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0 and Windows ME. It would be amazing if we could launch apps in Windows 2000,XP,Vista etc. compatibility modes. Something else that I was hoping is that it could stop apps from falsely claiming that they are "not a valid Win32 application" or "not a valid Windows NT application". That is a very prominent issue on Windows NT 4.0. Thank you for your time.
  21. That's a good find. I think it will be useful in the future. Also, I am not going to upload any "special" NT 4.0 apps until, they are tested and capable of running at least somewhat.
  22. Absolute minimum: 650 MB Hard Drive, 32 MB RAM, 133 MHZ processor (Pentium Pro+). Probably a PC designed for Windows 95, or a very high end Windows 3.1 PC would be the minimum (~1995). For light, everyday use, I wouldn't use less than 64 MB RAM, or 128 MB RAM for the Internet. But personally, I use 1 GB RAM. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/304297/en
  23. I can confirm this works, from personal experience.
