Yeah, it's the basic problem of this discussion since the beginning. There are several posts how to get the glow effect, then new users register into this forum and ask again and again how to get the glow effect. There is several pages how to make this work on the latest Win8.1 Update but new users still register to complain that this does not work after update. And it's with every feature... if users read the discussion since the beginning, it would avoid any double, triple etc. posts and everything would be much more easier to read and find.

If message about incompatible DWM appears, it means that symbols have not been downloaded. debug.log could help.

I don't think that some versioning has been changed. Version number has never been changed with any Windows updates.

If you need to manually execute explorer.exe to get into the desktop then the problem is hardly connected with Aero Glass unless you have applied some of those 3rd party scripts/tweaks.

Ah, sorry for confusion. I didn't mean registry editing in general but this particular case. If you go through this topic, you will find people complaining that something about Aero Glass does not work for them. What's the reason? Mainly, it's because they either installed some 3rd party tweak which messed their settings, or they followed some incorrect guide which someone posted here. I would suggest reading the guide on the website before advising to use AppInit_Dlls registry entry on Win8.1.

I don't understand what you mean ;-) Actually, even version 1.2.1 is compatible with Update 1 and no additional change is needed. You just need symbol files for it to make it work :-)

That's because you're using an incompatible theme. Switch back to the default one and you'll get a context menu. Nope, I don't. It is clean Win8.1 32bit installation just with all updates installed.

My small observation: 1. In Win8.x, right-clicking on tile/icon on Start screen displays action menu where I can delete (etc.) the icon. In Update 1, right-clicking only tick the icon and nothing more. No action menu is displayed. 2. Aero Glass is working at 100% B)

But I also specified later that releasing source code is not needed at all, because many people just showed during the development phase that they are not interested in the help with the development at all. I must admit that I cannot imagine this now. It would be good to have screenshots, video or something where I could see it.

ap1756: if you installed Aero Glass by installer, then uninstalling from control panel should be enough. If you installed manually, then you need to remove manually what you added. But your question gave me an idea - some users mix several ways of installing (see guide at the website) when only one method should be used. This may create confusion and aero glass is then loaded from different directory than user thinks. It then causes weird things such as that the key is not found (because it must be placed in different folder) etc. Check whether it is not your case.

You are right. If you can't donate, you should not get Aero Glass at all. I'm afraid that I cannot help you in this situation, because it seems that the problem lies far away from scope of Aero Glass.You certainly could help me disable the donation request pop-up since I have donated and have the correct key in the aeroglass folder.I would help you if I could. But as I said, this problem is not related to Aero Glass, something in your computer is blocking Aero Glass from accessing its folder, so I don't think I can do anything.

There were more reasons why I have disabled donations for a while. But the most biggest reason was that many users donated without reading the donation page at all and then they thought that they were paying for commercial software with fulltime support. But it is fair to me to reorganize the website so user is fully apprise that the software is just done in my free time and his donation is the form of "hey, I like your software and I think that you should work on it if you have some free time". I think I should finish it during this weekend. It is almost done, just some minor things are remaining. On the other side, there is a good news because I was able to install Update 1 and I can say that it will be possible to fix Aero Glass for this update. Now it is working for me with some glitches, but I guess when symbols are present, no additional change will be needed in the code.
