  1. The base of problem is that windows with extended frame do not have caption at all, because whole window is just client area with no frame (see more info here http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/bb688195(v=vs.85).aspx#drawing ). They just then draw some custom text on it (which can appear as window caption but it actually is not) using DrawThemeTextEx API function. The possible solution would be hooking this function of uxtheme.dll in every process and render glow on its own (or hook private uxtheme.dll function which is reponsible for glow rendering and just adjust the glow intensity there, but it would be more complicated).
  2. Yeah and that's why I repeat that you donate to support the development and not to pay for a license. Actually, I have no problem to give a free donation key to MSFN stuff/devs/admin, because they support my Aero Glass just by having this topic here ;-) There are two ways- TextGlowMode 0x1 and 0x2 requires having glow image in your theme atlas. TextGlowMode 0x3 loads glow directly from your theme (check your theme editor for this option directly). Yes, you can. But it takes exchange rate of euros into the account (or better, it depends how PayPal recalculates it) Please provide minidump for you dwm.exe and aerohost.exe (Task Manager is able to do this) and possibly an image from Process Explorer to show the dwm.exe and aerohost.exe hierarchy.
  3. It has never been said that it is freeware. If something is free, it does not mean that it is freeware. DOT.
  4. HKCU is per-user settings, HKLM is global settings for whole computer, so it depends on you.
  5. There is a simple trick with theme file name. Some place contains condition whether your theme is aero or is not. In this situation, when filename is aerolite.msstyles then taskbar will be blurred.
  6. However, AppInit_DLLs method of injection should not be used anymore. It is deprecated and it will probably stop working in future versions of Aero Glass.
  7. yes (unless you use old AppInit_DLLs method, then just replace DLL)
  8. AERO GLASS for Win8.1 v1.1 Here is a release with some modifications that I had on my mind during the release of previous version :-) * fixed errors when caption font size is set to zero * select correct target for glass safety zone * glass safety zone is local with static surfaces * flush before glass safety zone if required * removed symbol dependency on destructor of COcclusionContext * CoCreateInstance(CLSID_WICImagingFactory...) changed to WICCreateImagingFactory_Proxy * fix race condition when loading custom reflection * added human readable message when donation key/atlas/reflection loading fails * fixed blur effect on targets with alpha mode different from D2D1_ALPHA_MODE_IGNORE * added timestamp to minidump file name * verifying aerohost privileges should not be language-dependent Here is one secret setting for experienced testers!!! I discovered bug which caused that under certain conditions glass regions were rendered even if they were completely covered by some other (mostly fullscreen) window. I implemented a quick fix but I had no time to properly test it whether it does not cause some glitches elsewhere. This fix is included but disabled by default and it should not be enabled unless you know what you are doing and what you are testing. If enabled and some glitch/bug appear, at first test that it does not appear when this setting is disabled!!! Option can be enabled in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\DWM: DontRequireGlassSafetyZoneOnFullyCoveredRegions (DWORD: 0x0 (default) / 0x1 (to enable testing mode)). This should not be enabled by regular users!!!
  9. Sorry, but it's not written there at all. The sentence just states that if you donate 3 euros, you can get 2 keys. It does not state "only 3€", "3€ or above" or something about minimal amount.
  10. User is notified about those features on the website and even during the installation. If he does not agree with it, he should not install it at all. I re-read my website and I can't find any info that "3€ is required" or "3€ is minimum amount" or something similar. If I write 500€ for 200€ keys, does that mean that you must give 500€? I think that everyone can compute it on his own. Who specifies the limit? Wikipedia? What does that mean "normally"? Does my software do something abnormal which is not specified on the website or during the installation?
  11. Yes, this is the problem, but the problem of user who expect something. Website clearly states that user is not eligible to get something. The software is fully working even without donation. Could we say that it does something which user does not expect? No, we can't, because software everything which it says. If user does not agree, he should not install it at all. Ha ha. Do you when this all started? Read through the forum. Users complained even when the first preview showed console window with debug messages. Did you even try that? Probably not, because user will normally get a key even for 2€.
  12. Provide screenshot of your regedit so we can be sure. Also enable verbose logging and then provide debug.log.
  13. Although this can look as a good idea, it does not solve anything. I already mentioned it during the development for Win8, so I will just repeat myself, but although I listen to user's requirement they will still complain. Just look: the first usable version for Win8 displayed a message every two hours => users complained that it was too often => I changed to 6 hours => it was too often => I changed to 12 hours => it was two often => so I changed to "only on startup" => it disturbed user's login => I added a small delay => it was disturbing, because it displayed too late => I lowered delay => users still complain that there is popup. I already asked what will happen if I remove the popup? Users will complain that free version does not download symbols automatically. And guess what? Look several pages back and users are complaining about symbols. So it is never-ending story, users will still complain unless they get full-feature version without any need to give something.
  14. I think there is just a language barrier or something. At least here, donation means that you give arbitrary amount of something to someone to support his work and you don't expect anything for it. It's only good will of the donee if gives you some form of "thank you". And this is the sense why I call it "donation". The fact that majority of the users donate only the stated minimum (although it is not minimum at all) is not my problem. Maybe I just should remove "2 keys per 3€" sentence from the website to be more clear but then users won't know what to expect and will complain that they didn't get anything for their 0.01€ donation. That's it - it's not that it is intrusive. It is just that "you like". But there is a tiny difference which in even mentioned in the quote - BETA. I wouldn't say anything about watermark in beta. The BETA word is not important here. The sense of this sentence was that users are trying to give false reasons. And that's wrong. There is no fixed price and there is even no minimal price (except of those virtual donations such as 0.01€). That's why I don't call it "buying". It is vice-versa. Popup will be removed with the GUI and all possible information will be moved there. Also I think that popup is too silent or how else could I explain that many users still ask me where to get their machine ID?
  15. Do they really do? Message dialog appears only ONCE at boot and watermark is placed in right bottom corner of the desktop where it is hidden and most of the time obscured by other windows. But yes, it makes whole computer unusable (This reminds me old beta for Win8 where the popup appeared every six hours and users were complaining that their computer is unusable, because it appears every half an hour.) Please do not strip it out of the context. It clearly states "(some exception can appear for fair donations - see end of this page)." Nope, it's not true at all. "2 keys per each 3€" is put there just for the information what I think is fair. This information has the same value as it would be "200 keys per 300€". But if someone thinks that 3€ for 2 keys is too much then he can make me another deal. There are also users who donated less than 3€ and they got the key. On the other side, there were also users who donated 60€ and then generated 3 keys only. Is this software FREELY downloadable from my website? => YES, it is. Is this software FREELY installable on any amount of your computers? => YES, it is. Does this software FREELY works for unlimited amount of time? YES, it does. Does this software enables Aero Glass effect for FREE? Yes, it does. So it is FREE. The problem is that many users are too much limited to the thought that "free" means that the licensing model must 100% fit to their needs. Yes, you are right, for example Total Commander which always shows the dialog box, you must click different buttons and you must uninstall it after 30 days. Maybe I should change it to the shareware then I don't care about some wikipedia's definitions. I already answered you in my previous post. Also be sure, you install into location with access privileges. Because there is no debug.log visible in your image, there are probably incorrect privileges set.
  16. The most important question would be whether you modified your registry properly.
  17. ??? And how is it related to Aero Glass. You selected safe mode with command prompt, so your system booted into safe mode with command prompt. What's wrong with that?
  18. Please provide steps how to reproduce. Although I don't use safe mode, I don't see any reason why it should be caused by Aero Glass. Or is Win8 safe mode different from previous versions that it loads scheduled tasks?
  19. wazer: glass code should not be activated at all when some fullscreen application is running (or any other situation when no glass object is visible). Does verbose logging produce some error or something?
  20. And here is the problem. Although people say that they "read though all page", they mostly skip the most important points: * You donate to support the development of this software, not to buy this software/license. * You are not eligible to receive anything for your donation (some exception can appear for fair donations - see end of this page). * The amount of the donation depends on how much you value this software. You valuation also means how much you will be awarded. There no "buy 1 copy" etc. and it is the reason why it is not stated there. and that's why the website states "machine code (displayed in the notification dialog and in debug.log file)"
  21. I don't think that some special troubleshoot info is needed here, because all important information is already written on the website -> you just donate, then fill in the form, store downloaded file into your Aero Glass folder and restart. That's all. All problems which can appear are mostly caused by users who use some 3rd party softwares, change access privileges on Aero Glass folder or do some other non-standard things. Many users just try to invent some special procedures and then they are surprised that things do not work. But if some concrete information is missing on the website, just specify it and I have no problem to make the website complete then.
  22. Depending on the amount of your donation, you should be able to generate new donation key for your new computer.
  23. That might be problem, because I created DWM patterns for DLLs version that was current at the time of the release. Yes, it does.
  24. Guide states: path to PNG file with theme resource (bitmap must have exactly the same layout as msstyle theme you are using!) Does it state somewhere that it should be put into quotes?
