According to Sheldon posts and names of his link here, I assume that Sheldon and Glass4Cash is one person. Funny how he's trying to convince us that the "crack" is working correctly but he's reporting weird behaviours in their discussion

This software has never been marked as freeware; only some silly users concludes that it is. You didn't understood. The point is that it is easily possible to make tons of malicious code and you will never find it with any of your scans. And because that glasspwn (or how they call it) replaces important system library and injects its own code into high-privileged process then I am very happy that you decided to use it On the other side, I can bet that you will be one of the firsts who will install any upcoming update. The practice just verifies my claim - the users of cracked software have the need to have the latest version of the software regardless what have been changed in this version.

For all these popups I suffered during the Beta test I should get it for free... Nobody forces you to use it, so if you want to create your own usage terms then you should probably create your own software... or, of course, you can install some 4th party library which injects malicious code, but please do not come back when your windows fail to boot :-P

Executing system restore is very odd idea when nothing is broken. Aero Glass itself does not add or modify anything in the system except the things that you do manually.

Your debug.log is not accessible, so I cannot check for real problem. However, DWM incompatibility message simply means that your DWM is not compatible with included functions patterns. I'm not going to maintain new versions just for specific DWM versions on Windows 8.0, because it has no sense. For this reason, you must download symbol files for your DWM version.

Of course, it seems logical, or do you think that this bug would be there if you know about it? But be calm, it is nothing important, just a small race condition which will kill the system on one nice day btw, I got interesting private message today

I think that the challenge won't be if they can do it again, but rather if they can do it properly. It's a bit funny that they need to make team of two people asking for help from public (beta-testing link at their page) just for the small hook of one API function and they are still not able to make it 100% reliable But I need to give them one thank you - I tested their library and found a bug in my Aero Glass which can make the system totally unbootable. This bug would normally does not appear but it appears very often with their library injected

Why the hell anybody cannot create regular crack and only some stupid workarounds which injects harmful code into DWM are done? I have no problem with this and it will be funny to see how these people complain about system stability Anyway, thanks for your post, at least I can implement special code to the next version which kills data of anyone who has this harmful DLL injected

Yes, just install new version to the same directory. Uninstallation of old version is not needed.

This should not normally happen. Even when there is incompatibility issue then you should be able to login, so please check your Aero Glass folder for debug.log and for possible minidump files. These files should not be removed on uninstallation so they should still be there unless you deleted them manually, otherwise you need to reinstall and try again.

Only partial compatibility is in old Aero Glass version. Settings will probably apply correctly but you won't see live preview and you will need to restart DWM process to apply the changes.

It would be good to provide debug.log from non-working configuration so I can check what's wrong.

atitlan: I know what you mean. However, I'm afraid that this problem is caused by some 3rd party application which sets your taskbar to be layered window. Layered windows are handled differently than normal windows and thus occlusion info is not stored for them so blur effect (or its glass safety zone) cannot be rendered correctly, at least I have not found a way to do it. More interesting is that the same bug appears in original Aero Glass implementation in Windows 7 and Windows 8 RP too, so engineers from Microsoft do not know the solution either.

No, UAC is not required. Just the think that I already mentioned, DWM runs under different credentials and thus it does not have access to your profile/user folder.

I will check it and then I will add you to the database so you can generate your key on the website. I think you are missing the basic concept of this application - this is Aero Glass extension for Desktop Window Manager and not tool to skin your applications.

The sense of the "Cancel" button is not to revert to default values but to restore value which had been there before you changed it ;-) I'm not sure about your opinion - 100% of all windows are being closed by [X] button in titlebar, so why would it be more intuitive to close it via any additional button?

Yeah, donation tab is blank, because it is not needed at this time. My idea about buttons is to have only one Cancel button which should be rather called "Revert", it would revert any possibly bad value to previous state. Application would be closable only by titlebar's [X] button which would also save the settings. Having another button for app close is non-standard solution. The problem is that this application has never been called "freeware". It has only been called "free" in the sense of distribution (available to everyone) and usage (can be installed everywhere and used for unlimited time). The reason why it is called "donation" has been explained several times and I will not do it again. Yes, it is true that these two settings may not work correctly, because they should be stored into HKLM but I guess that the app stores them into HKCU which has not been tested at all. currently, it is not, only different transparency is possible, but it is good idea for new feature :-)

And what about my request for a custom program? I don't mind paying for it. The problem is that this lies beyond the scope of Aero Glass so I don't have appropriate knowledge to make this. It could be probably easy if accent color could be changed, but I'm not sure if it is possible just by altering SetWindowCompositionAttribute arguments (and you would not have glass effect in this case, only pure transparency).
