  8. No, you cannot do so. If you upload an image of WinPE to the net, you are violating the EULA and we would be forced to delete the links and give you a warning or worse. What's a better idea is to relase your instructions so people can do so themselves. If you wish to upload your own written scripts, then that's fine, but uploading a complete image for others to download is not allowed. Give a man a fish and he will eat. Teach a man to fish and he'll never go hungry.
  9. This is one place where Diskeeper is shooting themselves in the foot. I can name quite a few people I know who have disks or arrays that are greater than 1TB in size. Heck - my desktop at home uses two 640GB drives in RAID0, breaking their 1TB barrier. On that basis alone, there's no way that I'll spend $99 on Diskeeper Pro Premier when PerfectDisk Professional will do just fine - for $39. Not to mention - I can get a three pack of PD2008 Pro for $69. As for my storage array (8x1TB RAID5), $1000 for Diskeeper Enterprise server? No thanks. I'll happily pay $100 for PerfectDisk Server though.
  10. The 4850 is the same length as a standard motherboard. The main concern for you is going to be if there are any connectors that run directly behind (i.e. towards the front) the PCIe x16 slot (where the 8400GS is located now).
  11. If your budget is truly stuck at around $200, then those two would be my choices. However, if you'd like to be able to spend a little more towards your video card (to move up to the 4850), then you could always go for the Corsair VX450. Still an excellent quality PSU, and the only thing you really sacrifice is the modular cables. Before you ask - 450W will be plenty for your system (unless you're hardcore into overclocking - judging by your questions so far, you're not ).
  12. Fair enough. I'm just a quiet-computer freak, and don't like having messy cables lying in my case, tucked away or otherwise.
  13. I don't understand why people are willing to spend $200 on a video card or a CPU, but only $40 on a PSU. No offense, but if there's one component that matters the most in your system, it's the PSU. Get yourself a quality PSU. The Corsair HX520 or the Enermax Modu82+ 425W would likely suit you just fine, and both can be found on sale for less than $100. Another great feature, they're modular. Once you start working with modular PSUs, you'll wonder how you ever did without.
  14. Western Digital for all my desktop drives. At the moment, my laptop has a Seagate hard drive. 2x WD6400AAKS 2x WD5000AACS 8x WD10EACS 1x WD5000AAKS (connected via eSATA enclosure) 1x Seagate Momentus 7200.1 100GB 1x Seagate Momentus 5400.3 160GB (external drive) Also... Moved to Poll center
  15. I'll third the suggestion, and fully support crahak's parts list. Buying pre-built computers is a waste of money, and in the end, you'll probably be much happier with your computer than you would otherwise.
  16. Wow. That'll be something interesting to look at in the near future. I've been working on setting up some virtual servers at home for various purposes, but which product to use is still in question.
  17. System Idle Process should be using 99% of your CPU if nothing else is. It's the "process" that simply chews idle CPU time. The real indication of total CPU usage is the actual "CPU Usage" measurement at the bottom of the window.
  18. Hang on a sec... there is a solution for this without having to buy new hardware. RivaTuner can add custom resolutions to the display drivers so that old graphics card can drive just about any resolution. I had a Riva card push out 1680x1050 for a 20" LCD monitor. Of course, you wouldn't want to be gaming at this resolution, but for desktop applications, it was perfectly usable.
  19. I have to agree with crahak on this one. A bad PSU can literally destroy every other piece of hardware in the system if it decides to have a bad day. Especially with quality parts like you've got there, get a quality PSU. My two top picks right now are the Corsair HX series (520W is fine for your setup) or the Enermax Modu82+. They're a little more pricey, but they've got excellent quality and value.
