While it is a lossy format using a higher bitrate results in less loss (otherwise the file wouldn't be any larger). I can definitely tell the difference between a 128Kbps MP3 and a 256Kbps MP3 with my Audigy2 ZS and Klipsh ProMedia 2.1's.That's where you're wrong though. It doesn't matter if you can hear a difference or not, lossy will stay lossy and at such a point you can't create imaginary sound quality or something.Let's say a CD-track is at 100% sound quality. The first encoded MP3 file would then be at 50% for instance compared to the CD-track. If you're going to re-encode this MP3 file to another MP3 file at whatever bitrate, you will never have sound quality better than 50% in this case. Sad but true, that's what lossy audio formats are all about.

Ah, thx. Guess I was a little too eager with this description. For M2V you will still need to standard MPEG-2 Splitter (C:\WINDOWS\system32\mpg2splt.ax). The MPV Video Decoder is fully capable of decoding these files though. Perhaps you removed the standard MPEG-2 Splitter with nLite, Jeremy. * removed "M2V" from Gabest - MPEG Splitter 1.0.0.2 description [edit]Btw Jeremy, if you're using Media Player Classic, in most cases you wouldn't even need my DSFP because most of the splitters are already included within MPC.[/edit]

- 1411Kbps are WAV/Uncompressed audio files. - 128Kbps 44100Hz MP3's aren't that bad actually. even 96Kbps Vorbis sound great. - re-encoding an existing MP3 files is useless, since MP3 is a lossy audio format, no matter at what bitrate you're encoding, the re-encoded MP3 file will always be of less quality! Encoding MP3's from CD's/WAV's/lossless audio formats is the rights way to do. - as for your X-Fi soundcard, it could be anything; wrong settings, wrong driver...

First of all perhaps you want to point out what kind of media file you're actually trying to play, because Draugen is only talking about the MPEG Decoder (which is the only internal video decoder in MPC (besides the Real Video Decoder)). MPC almost only consists of splitters! FFDShow will do the rest, and here you can configure all the brightess stuff you prefer. The latest MPC release you will find here To configure the internal MPV Decoder in MPC: View > Options > Internal Filters: MPEG-1/2 Video

I don't know a direct solution to your problem, but in the mean time (perhaps you know already I don't know) you can use left alt + numpad 156 or left alt + numpad 0163 to get a £

Haha, thought you'd come up with that. I don't care that much about appearance concerning the DVD-ROM drive etc. And about the cables, well, it's the best "management" I could create Just cleaned all the dust out of the case yesterday, and the CPU indicates a nice steady 43C° -
Ok, take it easy. I suggest you take a look at the first post in this topic. There you'll find a link to my site (or you can click on the link in my signature), with (hopefully) all the information you need.

Here's my ownage-pc! Previous generation computer, but still fast enough for me. System specs: http://tweakers.net/gallery/148012/sys -
I did? Haha! It's just some sites I came across upon entering "IMA ADPCM" in google, I thought I should shares those. NP, I too was curious to know what the problem could be even though I didn't have the problem. But I still don't know what IMA ADPCM has anything to do with MP3...
-
Hmm, that doesn't make sense at all if you ask me. Afaik FEAR uses MP3 Audio, so I really wonder what the IMA ADPCM Codec has got anything to do with MP3 Audio... (IMA Audio you will most likely find in QuickTime MOV-files). But oh well, perhaps these two sites can help as well; http://www.moviecodec.com/topics/277p1.html http://www.free-codecs.com/guides/How_to_i...ows_XP_2000.htm Is it true then? Are you allready capable of removing this codec too with nLite nowadays?
-
Hey DigeratiPrime, What kinda of program do you use? Your file appears to be 45% larger then mine, and what did you do? Only "\\ " in the batch-files, and some extraction codes in the archive itself. Kinda weird this quite larger filesize, don't you think?

Or you can install FFDShow and take a look at my filterpack of course. Completely updated, and even less then 2MB, and offers more then the XP Codec Pack.

That's what I meaned yes; TeamSpeak 2 (I have the lastest version: 2.0.32.60). During a multiplayer game it sometimes is pretty annoying the degree of latency you have to cope with. And qualitywise Skype is much better, heck sometimes I can't even hear what people are saying actually.
-
Hi, I'm about to go to a LAN with a couple of friends next month. On the internet we're used to Skype it's magnificent quality and low latency, but on a LAN it's always back to TeamSpeak of simular. Does anyone know a program which we can use on a LAN (on a network), a program with the same good qualities as Skype?

titou2k, can you tell me what the differences are between your WM10 Lite package and the one found here? There're not the same are they?

Will try it out, thank you

Unless you're using this forum to take out all of this junk Nero houses (I believe there's somewhere a topic about slipsteaming Nero stuff), otherwise I would recommend CDBurnerXP. 34MB vs. 12MB!

I've searched the whole forum for "NoUpdatePromptTime" but no luck, so here is my question; I'm still using MSN 6.2 and every 2 weeks it notifies me of a new MSN version, and every time I have to tell it to leave me alone for another 2 weeks. I did a registry search and found the MSN folder with the key responisble > NoUpdatePromptTime with it's value: 10 ac 03 f7 32 2b c6 01. This is abracadabra for me. Does anyone know how to disable this completely?

Just the one that goes with FEAR imo, but I guess you removed too much with nLite I'm afraid. (But what that would be, I really don't know) I wouldn't have any other explanation for this right now.
