Zoom Player + DSFP + FFDShow A highly advanced DirectShow Media Player for music, video, dvd.
-
Also, please enable "FLV1" in the FFDShow Video Configuration.

"Joined: 5-July 06"...haha. Those are quite some words you throw at me there! I guess it turns out you can't take criticism very well, because the only thing I told you was that it's not "codecs" which are integrated within MPC of VLC, but splitter- and decoder-filters, or can you make some MP3 out of a WAV file with MPC or a MKV[XviD+Ogg] out of a DVD with VLC? I don't think so. Also please tell me where it turns out I'm wrong anyway? Besides you're telling me what to do? Who do you think you are? I'm not posting that much on these forums anyway. I just felt like I needed to clarify this codec/splitter/decoder-thingy up a little, and if you disagree with me, please proof me wrong, instead of shutting me up. I do have a hunch where I think I was wrong according to you. This is correct, MPlayer indeed has the ability to do this, but this doesn't mean these codecs are somehow integrated within MPlayer. You all have to download them separately.
-
No it wasn't actually. I have yet to see a media player with an integrated codec to be honoust.
-
Just for the record; those are no codecs, they're just splitter- and decoder filters. I don't know any other program with media stuff integrated than the ones you mentioned above.
-
TAin, nothing really important, but I'd would like to point out that: There's no such thing as "a filter" (in photoshop you have filters ). My package contains only decoder-filters, but there are also encoder-filters available. It's either "codec" (capable of encoding and decoding media content), or "decoder(filter)" (only capable of decoding media content), or either "encoder(filter)" (encoderfilters you don't see that often but they do exist. These you can use with GraphEdit for example.) So if the MSFN codec pack doesn't have any codecs/encoders (MSFN codec pack?...), then I guess we fall in the same category. (btw. what's YMMV?)
-
Then I guess you must have done something wrong, because all the needed files are present in the archive, including the DSFP_inst.bat. I've shortly tested this stuff before putting it online and I didn't have any problems. What exactly do you mean by "requires quotes because of the space"? What space?

Thank you for your pack You're welcome. I am waiting for your "tweak guide", I hope it will be soon Yeah well, I'm still not sure whether I should finish this or not. Some time ago by reading the Tactical Ops forums I discovered people were really interested in having a tweak-guide for them to get as much out of the old Unreal Tournament engine as possible. At the moment there are 2 threads you can take a look into: - Tweaks, tweaked ini's and tips for everyone - INI Updates Although these will give you some information into how to tweak your TO installation, it's far from being enough. The first thread the guy explains some things about how to clean your computer from spyware and such, but furthermore he just hands out some personal tweaked ini-files and most people just use them like that. Well that's pretty stupid, because tweaks are very personal and computer hardware/computer configuration dependant. I've also looked into these ini's shortly and there were quite some things that were far from optimum. But the thing I'm really concerned about is the fact Tactical Ops: Crossfire has been released for UT2004. You see TO is quite old, in fact, it's dying. And I'm not quite sure if it's worth all the effort to release a tweak-guide because of these reasons. P.S: I want to learn quite more about splitters, filters... At the moment the only links I quickly found are: - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DirectShow - http://www.inmatrix.com/zplayer/formats/ - http://www.inmatrix.com/zplayer/formats/filterinstall.shtml - http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=GraphEdit - http://www.illiminable.com/ogg/graphedit.html Good luck.

Update: DirectShow FilterPack 2.1

Although I respect your input, I don't think that would be such a good idea. If I would include a reg-file for FFDShow that would mean it would be imperative to install FFDShow prior to installing my DSFP. Also, I don't like the idea of forcing people to use those FFDShow settings. It should be their choice whether they want to use "Volume Normalization" or "Postprocessing" or not. And concerning the media types; I know you can enable or disable the FFDShow media types with reg-files, but since not everyone is using the same exact version of FFDShow I'm also not sure what to think of this either. I'll think about it. It's as simple as this: If you enable the integrated splitter/decoder filters in MPC it will use these. If you disable the integrated splitter/decoder filters in MPC it will use others fit for the job. (When I use MPC, I always have most of the integrated decoder filters disabled, this way I can enjoy Volume Normalization from FFDShow for low-volume AC3 sound for instance). It would seem you're still using an old version of my DSFP, since I'm not including the RadLight OGG Splitter anymore. But anyway, with that splitter the msvcr71.dll file was included, because the splitter is made with .NET Framework I guess, so if someone didn't have Framework installed, with the dll-file the splitter would still work.P.s. "I only use your Oggsplitter (cos its better then the one in MPC)". If so, could you tell why you think this RadLight OGG Splitter is better than the one from Gabest? Because, like I said, I don't use the one from RadLight anymore.

What do you mean? This is already the batch file I'm talking about.

NTFS CONVERTER.CMD convert d: /FS:NTFS convert c: /FS:NTFS I've seen /V stands for "Verbose" or something...what difference would this setting make?

Thanks for the replies so far. One thing I discovered was, that it seems to takes much longer to completely defragment a FAT32 HDD then NTFS one. I recently defragmented my computer after a long time, and it didn't take THAT much time. As you can see in my signature I have 2 SATA HDDs (69Gb and 233Gb, both NTFS of course), and the defragmentation process didn't even take that much time to finish, while both HDDs were rather heavily fragmented! As for the laptop; it has a 40Gb HDD, 2 partitions of around 20Gb. Even with one partition, after one hour and a half / two hours it was only at 20% or so! :s I roughly know the differences between FAT32 and NTFS, but I didn't suspect this. bluesreens, just for the record, while the first 2 replies suggest I should play it save, are you saying that I can do this conversion process anytime I want without losing files? (It's just that I don't like the idea of reinstalling windows and everything again on a brand new laptop.) I'm still not entirely sure whether this belongs in the software- of hardware-section, but anyway... My mother got her self a nice ASUS laptop 2 months ago and everything seems to be working fine. It also has all the pre-installed junk on it, *cough*Norton Internet Security*cough*. But I also noticed the harddisk is formated with a FAT32 table, and on the desktop they put a batch-file to convert everything to NTFS. Now my question is; Is this conversion process risk free? I mean, will all the files be still intact? Thanks in advance

nmX.Memnoch, then we've got ourselves a misunderstanding here indead. Sorry.

While it is a lossy format using a higher bitrate results in less loss (otherwise the file wouldn't be any larger). I can definitely tell the difference between a 128Kbps MP3 and a 256Kbps MP3 with my Audigy2 ZS and Klipsh ProMedia 2.1's.That's where you're wrong though. It doesn't matter if you can hear a difference or not, lossy will stay lossy and at such a point you can't create imaginary sound quality or something.Let's say a CD-track is at 100% sound quality. The first encoded MP3 file would then be at 50% for instance compared to the CD-track. If you're going to re-encode this MP3 file to another MP3 file at whatever bitrate, you will never have sound quality better than 50% in this case. Sad but true, that's what lossy audio formats are all about.

Ah, thx. Guess I was a little too eager with this description. For M2V you will still need to standard MPEG-2 Splitter (C:\WINDOWS\system32\mpg2splt.ax). The MPV Video Decoder is fully capable of decoding these files though. Perhaps you removed the standard MPEG-2 Splitter with nLite, Jeremy. * removed "M2V" from Gabest - MPEG Splitter 1.0.0.2 description [edit]Btw Jeremy, if you're using Media Player Classic, in most cases you wouldn't even need my DSFP because most of the splitters are already included within MPC.[/edit]

- 1411Kbps are WAV/Uncompressed audio files. - 128Kbps 44100Hz MP3's aren't that bad actually. even 96Kbps Vorbis sound great. - re-encoding an existing MP3 files is useless, since MP3 is a lossy audio format, no matter at what bitrate you're encoding, the re-encoded MP3 file will always be of less quality! Encoding MP3's from CD's/WAV's/lossless audio formats is the rights way to do. - as for your X-Fi soundcard, it could be anything; wrong settings, wrong driver...
-
First of all perhaps you want to point out what kind of media file you're actually trying to play, because Draugen is only talking about the MPEG Decoder (which is the only internal video decoder in MPC (besides the Real Video Decoder)). MPC almost only consists of splitters! FFDShow will do the rest, and here you can configure all the brightess stuff you prefer. The latest MPC release you will find here To configure the internal MPV Decoder in MPC: View > Options > Internal Filters: MPEG-1/2 Video

I don't know a direct solution to your problem, but in the mean time (perhaps you know already I don't know) you can use left alt + numpad 156 or left alt + numpad 0163 to get a £

Post Pictures and Specifications of your computer here!

Haha, thought you'd come up with that. I don't care that much about appearance concerning the DVD-ROM drive etc. And about the cables, well, it's the best "management" I could create Just cleaned all the dust out of the case yesterday, and the CPU indicates a nice steady 43C° -
Ok, take it easy. I suggest you take a look at the first post in this topic. There you'll find a link to my site (or you can click on the link in my signature), with (hopefully) all the information you need.

Here's my ownage-pc! Previous generation computer, but still fast enough for me. System specs: http://tweakers.net/gallery/148012/sys -
I did? Haha! It's just some sites I came across upon entering "IMA ADPCM" in google, I thought I should shares those. NP, I too was curious to know what the problem could be even though I didn't have the problem. But I still don't know what IMA ADPCM has anything to do with MP3...
