No, definitely not. Kaspersky was already discussed here and in other threads very detailed. In the end, it was listed by me here: https://msfn.org/board/topic/184730-antimalware-firewall-and-other-security-programs-for-windows-xp-working-in-2023-and-hopefully-beyond/?do=findComment&comment=1244367 And that is all I have to say about this matter.

My Browser Builds (Part 5)
AstroSkipper replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
The good is you don't have to worry about 64-bit applications if you are using Windows XP Professional 32-bit. And of course, RAM consumption is not everything, but it is particularly important for those with little available RAM. In such a system, it can happen very quickly that 100% RAM consumption occurs, for example, in New Moon 28 only due to one scrap page. -
My Browser Builds (Part 5)
AstroSkipper replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
You can put as much energy into New Moon 28 as you like. It will not be possible to completely free up used memory of already closed tabs unless you restart the browser. In Mypal 68, on the other hand, there is a way to almost completely free up the memory used by tabs that have just been closed without restarting the browser. But a closer look at the matter would unfortunately be offtopic in this thread and anyway more of interest to those who are on old, low-performance hardware like me. -

Simply said, it's always a question of entropy and energy; you simply have to increase the energy to reduce the entropy. And then you have some control over the expansion again. However, this only works up to a certain point and is of course only a very simple view of the matter. -

Personally, I think that such a thread is not really necessary. We already have two threads about extensions here, one for the legacy ones and one for the webextensions. That should be sufficient. Here they are: https://msfn.org/board/topic/183923-extensions-and-custom-buttons-for-uxp-browsers-corrections-modifications-adjustments-and-special-recommendations/ https://msfn.org/board/topic/183657-mypal-68-in-windows-xp-custom-buttons-and-extensions/ And there can be found a lot about uBlock Origin. D'accord ? -

Same here. And if the sqlite file is totally bloated due to frequent import and removal of filter lists, the installation should be reset or this file should be simply deleted, of course after creating a full backup which can then immediately restored when the browser has been started again. -

In Thorium and in Mypal 68, I use the extension UserAgent-Switcher and Manager for this purpose. I already wrote about it here: https://msfn.org/board/topic/186133-thorium/?do=findComment&comment=1266981 In New Moon 28 or Serpent, similar solutions can be applied if needed. -

This is a very old profile, @VistaLover would call it a (very) dirty profile. Every missing functionality was retrofitted by me with many scripts, custom buttons, CSS style sheets and, as already mentioned, tons of extensions. But believe or not, this profile is still working. And legacy extensions are not that heavy as webextensions. Many of them have no negative impact on the browser's performance. -
My Browser Builds (Part 5)
AstroSkipper replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
No problem here surfing all websites by default in mobile view on my Windows XP computer. You can do that in every browser. I do this by default only in Thorium in a blacklist mode, i.e. all websites on the blacklist are accessed in desktop view, all others in mobile view. Works fine here. -
Thanks for asking! As long as no new errors occur and everything is running well, there is no need to update. I'm travelling on so many fronts that my time needs to be well managed. Or is something not working? I can't see any serious problems at the moment. uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.35 is running fine here.

My Browser Builds (Part 5)
AstroSkipper replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
I have to correct my statement a bit. Mypal 68.14.2b 32-bit in single-process mode installed with 23 extensions (7 of them disabled), 14 uc.js scripts, 13 css stylesheets and one open tab consumes only round about 180 MB after browser start. So, a bit less than New Moon 28. -

AstroSkipper replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
Websites which consumes extremely large amounts of RAM are immediately closed by me in New Moon 28 and opened in Mypal 68 or, more recently, also in Thorium. If that doesn't work very well either, it flies to my Android tablet, which can open all pages. This strategy works quite well, at least until now. -
My Browser Builds (Part 5)
AstroSkipper replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
I always have Process Hacker running in the background for many, many years. I regularly monitor my browsers in terms of RAM and CPU utilisation by Process Hacker's systray icons as a first measure. New Moon 28 32-bit, well configured and used appropriately, consumes the least RAM compared to other browsers. If I have a few extensions installed and only have one tab open, I am at around 200 MB after starting the browser. I think that's a good value compared to others. What is always problematic, with all browsers, is the release of RAM when tabs are unloaded or even closed. This always leads to additional consumption after prolonged use of the browser, which is actually unnecessary but has unfortunately never been solved by the developers (and by that I mean Mozilla in particular). -
My Browser Builds (Part 5)
AstroSkipper replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
My old Windows XP machine has 1.5 GB RAM only. And surfing the web works if you keep it simple. Tons of open tabs are not actually necessary, though. My browsers New Moon 28, Serpent 52, Mypal 68 and even Thorium rarely need more than 500 - 600 MB. Abnormal websites are fodder for my Android tablet. At the moment, I am using New Moon 28 with 74 extensions installed, 4 of them disabled, and only the MSFN website opened by a RAM usage of round about 400 MB. -
Latest Version of Software Running on XP

Thanks for the heads up! -
Those questions should be addressed to @feodor2, the developer of Mypal 68. You can do it in the Mypal 68 thread, on Codeberg.org or on GitHub.

As far as I know, the codec of AVC1 or H.264 is the same, but the formalities of the file internally have different indicators. One is a raw stream, and the other is not.

Try to load search plugins via the Wayback Machine which offers many copies of the Mycroft Project! Or, you use extensions to add search engines as, for example, the one I already described here: https://msfn.org/board/topic/183657-mypal-68-in-windows-xp-custom-buttons-and-extensions/?do=findComment&comment=1254846 And you can add new search engines by clicking the green plus icon in the search bar only if the current website offers to add it, of course.

First, you should fully enable hardware acceleration especially if your hardware is weak. Most corresponding prefs have already been enabled by default but the following ones should be set to the value true in any case: layers.prefer-d3d9, layers.acceleration.force-enabled and media.hardware-video-decoding.force-enabled. To force YouTube using the H.264 format, you can install the extension h264ify which you then have to configure to your needs. Personally, I avoid to play YouTube videos in browsers on my system. It's much too bloated. I prefer to use Invidious if I really want to watch those videos in a browser. Anyway! You can also install some user scripts from Greasy Fork to change YouTube settings in Mypal 68 as, for example, https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/480137-youtube-h-264-fps, or https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/493563-hide-vp9-support-from-youtube-force-30-fps-video by using Tampermonkey. But you have to test each user script as some of them don't work anymore due to the permanent changes by YouTube.

Thanks for replying! The last official Chrome which supported Windows XP was the version 49.0.2623.112. I think I have a copy of it in my archive. In any case, I will check if the hardware acceleration worked at all in this version on my hardware and report here. I tested Chrome 49.0.2623.112 regarding hardware acceleration. It doesn't offer hardware accelerated 2d-Canvas. All other hardware accelerated features could be switched on. But testing those ancient Chrome versions is not easy as they are much too old to access modern websites. Without ProxHTTPSProxy, no chance anyways. However, this version has a lot of problems due to its old Javascript engine. In any case, I hope there is a chance to improve hardware acceleration in Thorium in such a way that both, 2d-Canvas and rasterization, can be done by GPU on old systems as mine to take more load off the CPU as it is the case, for example, in Mypal 68. @IDA-RE-things I can also provide a log of GPU errors if it is helpful in identifying and possibly fixing issues. However, one thing is clear. Thorium is almost unusable without the Chrome XP API Adapter on old computers like mine, even if the hardware acceleration only works partially.

@user57 A little tip from me. Why don't you format your text so that people don't have a crisis when they read it? A text stretched out like this is difficult to read and is actually just annoying. I don't understand your countless blank lines at all. What you actually want to say falls completely by the wayside. Anyway! That was just a friendly hint.

My Browser Builds (Part 5)
AstroSkipper replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
Puzzles from geo.captcha-delivery.com do neither work in New Moon 28 nor in Serpent 52, but, for example, in Mypal 68.14.2b. You can report it to "upstream", of course in such a way as described by @Mathwiz in this post: https://msfn.org/board/topic/185966-my-browser-builds-part-5/?do=findComment&comment=1267837. Personally, I do never visit www.etsy.com. If I had to, I would use a browser which can solve these puzzles like Mypal 68, or I throw such garbage to my Android tablet as usual. -

@dmiranda And LinkedIn seems to work in Serpent 52, too. So I don't know what you are actually talking about. And I can't see that the end is "nigh" for many websites in Windows XP. -

LinkedIn can be called up fine here in Mypal 68 and New Moon 28. What issues do you refer to? -
usagestats is not a flag but a REG_DWORD registry value as far as I can see. It was set to the value of zero on my machine.
