  1. Impossible at least for such a person like myself who's not a programmer. I know two different 3rd party applications which add ClearType support to Win2k but none of them is perfect and they don't work well for all languages / fonts.
  2. A new daily release of UURollup-v11 is ready. I've replaced the Japanese file (urlmon.dll) with the previous version which is in English.
  3. I've just uploaded a new .NET Framework package and also a new daily release of UURollup-v11. The latter is a major update because I've added MS VC++ 2012 libraries. I've also removed several IE6 SP3 files which I added some time ago as M$ keeps releasing official updates for Windows 2000 including IE6 Cumulative ones so there's no need to use XP files in this case.
  4. Not if you're using a small SSD for your system drive...
  5. Thanks for testing If it's not a problem I'd also like to have a look at the "NETFX101120303540.log" file from your %windir% folder. blackwingcat still hasn't added an English version of urlmon.dll to his ENU kernel. I'll revert to the previous version of the file in the next UURollup-v11 daily release.
  6. It seems that TeamViewer crashes when you set system locale to Korean. I'm guessing that it's the same thing as with Silverlight which also doesn't work when the system locale is set to Korean. When it's different, ex. English then both programs seem to work fine...
  7. @My2GirlsDad Already updated Check #323.
  8. Thanks a lot for such a long list I'm not going to focus on drivers now but I'm sure that it will be very handy later when I'll be preparing the new driver.cab package.
  9. @Max I've got Windows 2000 Advanced Server installed here but can't find IIS (World Wide Web Publishing Service) in services. Are you sure that it's installed by default? I'll try to search for more information later when I've got some free time. @OldSchool38 It's a little bit complicated as there are currently three different "channels" of UURollup - stable, weekly and daily (detailed information available in #1). Daily releases are for testing purpose only so don't use them if having a stable system is a priority for you. Weekly releases can be installed over previous stable and weekly releases but don't install them over dailies. If you decide to install a daily release and then want to install a weekly or stable release again then the best way would be to uninstall the daily one before doing that. In one word, the safest way is to just uninstall the previous version but if it's impossible then you can safely install any weekly or stable release over older weekly or stable releases. If you want to be super safe then just stick to stable releases only. I can't guarantee what will happen if you install releases from different channels over a daily release since I don't test it As for Java, you don't need to use any unofficial installers if you've got UURollup installed. Just use the newest official Java 6 installer from here.
  10. @OldSchool38 It's always nice to see a "new" Windows 2000 user The Japanese language bug hasn't been fixed yet. As soon as blackwingcat fixes it in his kernel, I'll also add the fixed file to UURollup-v11. I don't know whether you can run AVG or Zone Alarm as I haven't tried to do it. Avast still officially supports Windows 2000 so I think it's the best choice among free AV solutions. As for Java 7, you can install it but there's an unfixed bug (more info here) so using the latest version of Java 6 is recommended. @Max I'd like to check the problem myself but could you give me instructions step by step what to do to enable IIS and check whether it works or not?
  11. I think you misunderstood the topic It's not related to Windows 2000 in any way.
  12. M$ still releases cumulative IE updates for Windows 2000. They don't announce it on their websites but the updates themselves are available in the monthly ISO packages (KB913086).
  13. The situation is more complicated than in case of Win9x because there are currently two separate extended kernel projects but if you want to have a simple solution then just visit my website (the link is in my signature) and download and install Update Rollup 2 and UURollup from there. Remember that you need to have SP4 and Update Rollup 1 installed before doing so (you can just run Windows Update and apply everything from there before using the unofficial packages). As you may have guessed, I use Windows 2000 I like it for its stability, speed and professional look (no bells and whistles or other similar useless stuff).
  14. I also still have the same problem with Silverlight which is that it doesn't work when system locale is set to Korean.
  15. It's the same version (8.0.16642). As I mentioned earlier, the problem happens ONLY when you connect TO the computer. Otherwise TeamViewer works correctly. In other words, I can connect through TeamViewer to different machines but as soon as I try to connect to my desktop PC from other places, TeamViewer crashes
  16. @blackwingcat I think that there's something wrong with TeamViewer and your kernel. When TeamViewer is turned on on a Windows 2000 machine and you try to connect to it from another one (I tried both a desktop PC (Win2k) and a tablet) then TeamViewer crashes: I've tested both TeamViewer 7 and TeamViewer 8 but there's no difference Would it be a problem for you to check why it doesn't work? The problem happens only if you try to connect TO the computer, not when you use TeamViewer to connect with other (non-Win2k) machines.
  17. It's not a fair comparison. You're comparing Windows 9x with KernelEx to a clean Windows 2000... but Windows 2000 with unofficial kernel can run newest versions of all major browsers, i.e. Firefox, Opera and Chrome so I wouldn't say that it's close.
  18. It's because of urlmon.dll and it seems that blackwingcat by mistake has added a Japanese version of the file to his latest kernel. Edit: By the way, here you can download a whole HFSLIP package prepared for slipstreaming with the newest weekly version of UURollup-v11. It's originally for Win2k (Advanced) Server so you may want to remote the few server-only updates. To use it you just need to copy your Windows source files into SOURCE and then run the HFSLIP script.
  19. It's exactly the same as the latest daily release
  20. I forgot to mention it but I did upload a new weekly weekly version of UURollup-v11 (dated 2013.02.03). It's a standard SFXCAB archive so you can use it for slipstreaming.
  21. Good to know that The other sources will remain active though so you can use them in case Dropbox doesn't work again.
  22. I'm thinking about it and will probably do it when I've got some free time. There's more to change because some of the updates from the Updates List for HFSLIP also use Dropbox links
  23. I've updated the .NET Framework installer to the latest version.
  24. The problem is that I need something which works both in Windows and Android (phone & tablet). I've found plenty of voice talk applications for Android but all of them were asking for my phone number on start which hasn't got any sense when run on a tablet with no built-in phone Skype doesn't do it and the modified version which I gave a link to above seems to be working surprisingly well - no lags or other bugs so common in the official version.
