    WTF is THIS?

That message can appear without the worm too. When a hacker has compromised the RPC Flaw in a user's PC, and then disconnects (as in finished with what the hacker was doing) then the RPC service fails causing a timed-down reboot.
  2. No Warez, cracks or serials on MSFN, read the forum rules. Email the author of JV16 for registration information on how you can pay for it.
  3. Yeah its ridiculous, there's no text limitation on the Internet, why the need to use SMS type of talking? It just makes it a lot more difficult to read and understand, as people make a rush job of typing it up. heh anyway, people who type like that, don't expect many replies cos most people won't bother.
  4. it uses /s /v/qn To stop the automatic reboot, use: s /v"/qn REBOOT=Suppress"
  5. For someone who asked about the -f switch in conjunction with the timer, it terminates applications when the timer reaches zero, no matter which order the switches are in.
  6. Nobody has reported any hotfix versions mismatch yet, this is because qchain is built in every hotfix. After using the method in the guide and running QFECheck, all the hotfixes are installed correctly.
  7. Yep, the Symantec Security Response page on the W32.Blaster worm will tell you what ports to block.
  8. Yeah some visual styles are a bit funny with Add/Remove. So there's nothing wrong with your PC, its the theme creator's fault.
  9. Read the forum rules...
  10. COPY "%systemdrive%\install\TweakUI\Tweak UI.lnk" "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Tweak UI.lnk" should be COPY "%systemdrive%\install\TweakUI\Tweak UI.lnk" "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\"
  11. So you've removed the cd at the very start, but the files still get reverted back to their original versions?
  12. Earlier, a member in this forum asked if he could use shutdown.exe instead to restart the computer. I told him that he couldn't because it isn't a command that exists in Windows. I was wrong! It exists on Windows XP, and I stupidly tried it on Windows 2000 just to verify it exists. d'oh! Anyway, you can get a full list of commands to use by typing shutdown /? in Command prompt. The only switches you will probably only need to use is: shutdown.exe -r -f -t 60 -r = Reboot -f = Force Applications to terminate -t 60 = timer of 60 seconds before rebooting/shutdown, the numbers can be edited to your preference. Anybody willing to test this on a system without a Network card, or a system with no network card drivers installed? The reason I ask is because PsShutdown is non-functional on a system without a NIC or NIC drivers.
  13. yeah give that a go, let us know how it goes
  14. Symantec are currently writing signatures to remove the worm, hence why there isn't a liveupdate yet. Removal instructions are on the Symantec Security Response page. If you have already patched the RPC Security flaw then msblast.exe is defunct
  15. It was posted on Frontpage earlier: http://www.MSFN.org/comments.php?id=4543
  16. We all look forward to Longhorn because its going to have a massive radical change in the history of Windows. Grunge - Keep the swearing down, we put those swear filters in for a reason, and should not be evaded.
  17. Yeah I've heard reports from a private newsgroup I go to and appears to be worsening, time to make a news post about this, no matter how old the flaw is!
  18. It's supposed to be unattended.
  19. hmm it shouldn't be doing that. MSN 6 only opens when the windows shell loads (the shell isn't loaded during GuiRunOnce)
  20. Yeah, Microsoft are hiding some of them. Couldn't find much on the MS Knowledge Base. There's a couple in \WINDOWS\inf\sysoc.inf but not much.
  21. sounds good! Looks like a great timesaver
  22. updated to DirectX 9.0b?

    .img

If its IMG as in CD Image, try these apps in this order: ISObuster, WinISO, then WinImage
  24. shutdown isn't a valid command nor supported by Win2k/XP
  25. That registry tweak isn't valid. A mistake on my part.
