Q824145 isn't needed because its the November 2003 Cumulative Update for IE. February 2004's is the latest and carries on fixes from previous updates.

You're the first to ask Its because on the guide its made obvious that a new svcpack.inf has to be created and deleting the old svcpack.in_, not editing it. Plus, if they did edit it, they would normally compare it against the one on site to check for anything wrong.

Did you mean the Advanced Networking pack? I think you're using the wrong switches for it: /q /n /Q. First you're using two /q switches in it when you only need one, and there's no /z switch to prevent a reboot. Use /? on Q817778.EXE manually to find more information on the available switches.

No, you're running a lot of hotfixes that the Update Rollup already does for you. Start comparing against this list here: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=826939 and then remove the hotfixes in svcpack.inf that are in the KB article.

It does supersede it according to file versions, its just Windows Update is oblivious to the fact that there's a newer update for WMP9, so MS haven't added it to WU's database yet. (hopefully they will soon!) I'll remove the new WMP9 update (832353) from the list for the time being.

Q832353 has been added to the list and is the latest Windows Media Player 9 Update. This supersedes all past WMP9 updates (including 828026). This is a Type 1 Hotfix

KB article doesn't exist, and it doesn't show on WU (it would if it was critical) and its also dated 16th December. I'm not so sure about this one just yet...

Bladewraith - I also installed MDAC 2.8 and the update through svcpack.inf and it didn't work out. I think it needs a reboot between the two installations. MDAC 2.8 stays in svcpack.inf, and the update released yesterday has been moved to GuiRunOnce. Still testing...

MDAC Update added. This replaces the previous MDAC update (823718). For certain people who install the full MDAC 2.8 - you will also need to install this update as it applies as well.

I believe it won't show as installed if you're installing it in Virtual PC (this is a USB limitation in Virtual PC). On a normal PC it will.
