  1. You will need Makecab.exe to compress it back to a .cab file. (most likely in the C:\Windows\System32\ directory) But don't expect Windows XP Setup to install explorer.ex_ because it won't pass the digital signature as its been modified by you.
  2. Warez or discussion of circumventing activation/time limits is not permitted on MSFN. Thread Closed
  3. ahhh... the Welcome Screen. It doesn't exist in Windows Server 2003. Neither does Fast User Switching or System Restore.
  4. Copy explorer.ex_ to a folder on your hard drive, and then load up Command Prompt and browse to that directory. Type: expand explorer.ex_ I think you can only do that on unattended installations of Windows XP, using command batch files to execute reg hacks during the [GuiRunOnce]. I don't have the details on this, but one of our members will be making a guide on this soon.

  6. I think we've embarrased him enough
  7. You're both brothers! Retired England and Spurs football player.
  8. lol that's what I thought too
  9. I used the deploy.cab from 2003 to create the unattend for Windows Server 2003. And then downloaded the XPSP1 Corporate Deploy Tools from the Microsoft site and used it for XP Professional. (the slipstream process didn't include the updated deploy.cab to my cd) Either way, the unattend.txt turns out the same way, so probably not the problem there... So when you say it works perfectly, did the IIS components install?
  10. It's possible, enable the Windows Image Aquisition service first, plug in your scanner and then install the drivers.
  11. You can all buy me a
  12. Thanks everyone!
  13. What exactly do you mean by the style? Screenshots of the style and what you currently have would help to make the question clearer.
  14. bah, all the newest resi evil series are appearing on Gamecube instead Only got a PS2 here.
  15. good find doggie, will give this a go probably tomorrow. Had a tiring day today trying to get it working with lots of different values and modifications and then just gave up. It didn't work for Windows XP either (for example, removing msn explorer)
  16. Was that decision based on the popularity of the format? I don't use WinACE myself now, but did find in a couple of tests in the past that it compressed a further 5-20mb than WinRAR, it varies depending on what you're compressing.
  17. WinACE
  18. lol, I already removed my real admin password from the file beforehand, and replaced it with random letters/numbers
  19. I need a bit of help with the use of my unattended.txt (which I've renamed to winnt.sif and added to the /i386 directory in my ISO) Here's what I've used: ;SetupMgrTag [Data] MsDosInitiated="0" UnattendedInstall="Yes" [Unattended] UnattendMode=ProvideDefault OemPreinstall=No TargetPath=\WINDOWS [GuiUnattended] AdminPassword="gh54ux92" EncryptedAdminPassword=NO AutoLogon=Yes AutoLogonCount=1 OEMSkipRegional=1 TimeZone=85 [UserData] ProductKey=not shown FullName="Aaron" OrgName="Home" ComputerName=LITHIUM [Display] BitsPerPel=32 Xresolution=1024 YResolution=768 Vrefresh=85 [LicenseFilePrintData] AutoMode=PerServer AutoUsers=75 [TapiLocation] CountryCode=44 Dialing=Tone AreaCode=01325 [RegionalSettings] LanguageGroup=1 Language=00000809 [Branding] BrandIEUsingUnattended=Yes [URL] Home_Page=http://www.google.com [Proxy] Proxy_Enable=0 Use_Same_Proxy=1 [Identification] JoinWorkgroup=PHOENIX [Networking] InstallDefaultComponents=Yes [Components] AccessOpt = Off Iis_common = On Iis_inetmgr = On Iis_nntp = On Iis_webadmin = On Iis_www = On [Shell] DefaultStartPanelOff = Yes This unattended file as created by Setup Manager is set as "User Controlled - You provide default options in the answer file and the end user can change any of them" The current problems I'm having is: 1. The time zone as default was set in a US timezone during setup, even when I've set it as "85" which should have made GMT as default. 2. None of the [Components] took effect - IIS wasn't installed, and the Accessibility Options wasn't removed. 3. I've also removed Autopartition="1" from the unattended file, I assume this will allow me to choose the hard drive/partition and the formatting method? if so, that's good. 4. The display didn't set as 1024x768, could this be a limitation from when I tested it in VirtualPC?
  20. There's also another scenario, if you have a couple of PCs at home. This is my setup: A server PC running Microsoft Software Update Services, leaving it to download all the updates available overnight on my 56k modem, (only has to be done once). Then whenver I need to format any of my workstations and install the updates, I configure the Automatic Updates client to point to my server rather than windows update, it instantly gets and installs all the updates. Handy when you want the job done quick on 2 or more machines. You can find out more about SUS by clicking here
  21. Beginners - Paintshop Pro 7 Hardcore - Photoshop 7 Not exactly sure where this fits. - Fireworks MX
  22. why? Windows Server 2003 is only meant to be installed once. It won't need to be formatted every month because it isn't like a workstation OS where you install a lot of junk everyday.
  23. Where are you upgrading from? Win2k I assume? Third-party Kernels... that's when your kernel files have been replaced and are not the original windows files, this is usually the case when you have applied a skinning program (or other) that's probably modified important files to change the appearance. Maybe a SFC /Scannow beforehand will do the trick in restoring the original files, then running the upgrade. Let me know how you get on
  24. Should do, but then you should be more concerned about the upcoming Windows Update v5, rumours have been circulating that it checks a database of valid keys and then will stop PC's getting updates if a bad key is found.
  25. Here's a new shot, after a long absence from the desktop threads! Click to enlarge: OS: Windows Server 2003, Std Edition Theme: Classic (obviously...) Running: WinVNC, SAV, IIS, FTP, SUS, NNTP
