  5. There seems to be a big bug with the installer, if you try to resize an NTFS partition (to create a new partition from the free space) your NTFS partition becomes corrupted. http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=186395
  6. It was the worst firewall I ever used. Had a lot of problems with it myself. I only tried it because I wanted a 'light' firewall, then I found Winpooch which did what I wanted, although its not for everyone.

  15. yup picasa is pretty nice software. good for simple photo editing and managing collections.

  18. well it depends. you said you wanted to hide open ports, with a NAT Router outsiders generally cannot see any 'details' about your internal network they can only see the router. however a router generally will not provide application filtering and stop your computer from leaking if it was hijacked in some manner say by a trojan. a combination of the two is a good defense. I personally just use my NAT SPI Router. Although I like Kaspersky IS6 and sometimes Winpooch because its a light and simple firewall.

  24. Nod32 and Kaspersky have very good detection rates and use minimal system resources.
