  1. I'm confused as to why you keep saying slip stream of net 1.1 with sp1 Cause there is no stream to it... it is a program just like popupcop , winamp, and all the rest there is nothing to update or slipstream to it... Just make a installer and install it some where,, pick you spot...
  2. Thanks M8 it is my download manager que Here is the direct link for XP http://download.microsoft.com/download/2/8...53/scripten.exe
  3. Hi all! I am splitting it up into 4 installs.. This may seem a little involved but I like it,, So boo hooooooooooo... All of the files are self extracting they extract themselves then install... what you are doing is trapping the install files then do what you want... Down load all four things and extract download page one http://mirror.ati.com/support/drivers/winx....x=9&submit.y=4 download page two hydrovision http://mirror.ati.com/products/hydravision....x=6&submit.y=3 drivers -- > wxp-w2k-8-042-040803a-016701c.exe Control panel --> control-panel-8-042-040803a-016701c.exe Catalyst --> wxp-CATALYST-CONTROL-CENTER-17307.exe This is a extra only if you want it.... Hydrovision --> hydravision-3-25-0006.exe Now as far as the drivers go make a drivers install package as per the how to here http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/drivers.htm the top folder you want is the 2KXP_INF and this is what I put in the winnt.sif [Display] BitsPerPel = 32 Vrefresh = 75 XResolution = 1024 YResolution = 768 That will install the drivers no fuse I also included my monitor drivers in the driver folders When I reboot both displays are enabled and set to my settings with all drivers installed Now to the other ones in the extracted folder you will find this file setup.iss and maybe this file setup_shortcut.iss DELETE THEM Now run the Setup.exe in each folder using the -R switch case sensitive trap the new setup.iss in the windows folder and copy it to the folder as per this page http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/applications/installshield.htm These are both case sensitive,,,,,,,,, setup.exe -R to make the new setup.iss setup.exe -s to install silent MAKE sure you select no reboot at the end... Do that for all three no hassle no mess and it has your setup instructions,,, Where you go from here is up to you you can make a sfx package if you want I get off the Bus here cause I load stuff from the D:\drive so I don't need to compress or do any packing,,, As an extra note you probably be better off to install the card drivers first in the GUI-mode setup then install the rest in the runonceEX key cause the Catalyst depends on the NET frame now, the reboot after the GUI-mode setup helps the NET frame to be completely setup So you know the rest of the story,,, Mac!
  4. Let me give this one a look over after I get some sleep... It looks like if you extract the drivers you can just plop them in the slot where you put the rest of the drivers,, this is where I have mine... D:\XPCD\SS-Root\$OEM$\$1\Drivers\040_ATI_9700_Pro that loads the drivers put this in the winnt.sif [Display] BitsPerPel = 32 Vrefresh = 75 XResolution = 1024 YResolution = 768 I also put my monitor drivers in this folder D:\XPCD\SS-Root\$OEM$\$1\Drivers\050_Samtron_Monitor Both mY monitors light off both enabled and running at the about resolutions see the tutorial on adding drivers it works... This way the only thing you will have to deal with is the control panel I just looked at an old one and there is already a setup.iss file in the control panel you many have to delete that one and do the -r /r trick which ever one was on the help page... the new setup.iss will be in the windows folder... I will have to look at the new files downloading now and need sleep.. I will let my brain think while I sleep... Mac!
  5. I'm still running the Dec 2003 drivers only you don't need the rest of the cat installer... I grabbed the drivers from the update site when it was still on V4 it takes up about 11 MB on the CD....... I put this in the winnt.sif [Display] BitsPerPel = 32 Vrefresh = 75 XResolution = 1024 YResolution = 768 I also put my monitor drivers on the CD... follow the tuitorial on how to add drivers Both my monitors light off and are set to the above settings with the monitor drivers included... LOL no pick this or that it is just right,,,, I'm not sure how to get to them now they change the site but you might load up a hard drive withOUT the drivers and see if it tells you that you need the drivers... I did trap my cam camera drivers by doing it that way the updates will be in the C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution folders... just grab them before you say install once you install them they turn into a confusing long humbers LOL same file just renamed to a confusing name... When I grabbed them they said dec 2003 BUT this is what is shows ATI Technologies Inc. 6/10/2004 6.14.10.6458 Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher Mac! P.S. I have a ATI pro 9700 with dual monitors Can't live withOUT two monitors now...
  6. If you change these settings AutoAdminLogon to 0 where you block the admin Administrator to 1 then reboot you will see the default user and admin pop up enter the password then you will see it is just another profile... for folders C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator and look in the ProfileList in the register there is a SID entry for the admin S-1-5-21-1409082233-842925246-854245398-500 I think the 500 on the end means admin not sure yet,, and the other number may be different for you.. You can change the admin password to zip here "" nothing... just go into the users and change the password... just watch cause if some one can see you admin profile and they are logged in as a adminstartor they can change the password withOUT having to know the old one... LOL My stepson triped when I showed him that.. Mac! P.S. I still say admin just a fancy word for B.S. there is a admin profile and admin rights two different things...
  7. OH my evilvoice When you clean house you clean house... Great Idea! to add......... I saw those other hidden profiles but I didn't know if you could leagally get rid of them... If you can and we don't need them that is better,,, ???????????? The profile folders are never created cause we never log in on them so they are gone any way... As far as the admin it is really a figment of your imaginations,, admin rights and the admin profile are to different things... Admin is really another user with all rights enabled.. .......it is created from the default user folders.. when you log into the admin profile.. JUST A FANCY word for BULLS**T the SID is reserved and hidden....... So that code in your ~SIDefaultuser.cmd stops it from continue, HUM will have to give it a go.. So long as it works like my hidden pause...
  8. If the tools remove the dependency then yes what I was talking about was doing a straight copy file.dat to over written file.dat the links are not released.. The tool will link to the files the new profile,, hopefully
  9. you can't just swap the dat files cause when you do that dat has the wrong links in it... try it some time say swap bills with toms dat... toms dat points at toms file folders no matter where you put it... visa versa... bills always points at bills links... when you create a new user from the default user the windows built in stuff changes the links to links to the new file folders for the new users...
  10. LOL Let Me explain Cause the way the register works is confusing Once you see the light you will jump up and shout! I see the light...... B) This is for setting up the computer then you can span out and create users then all users will have the default users keys, Once you create a user they will be on there own and can configure there desktop how they like as long as what they are changing is in the HKCU keys,,, It make no matter about the HKLM cause they are shared and if I change something on my desktop that uses the HKLM then you will see it on yor desktop, and visa versa,, Only the HKCU sections goes with a users desktop... Yes to evilvoice that is why I want to stay on the default desktop and install everthing then branch out to extra users....... just like what you are trying to do in the cmdlines.txt is so that it gets put on default user ALL ACCOUNTS COME FROM THE Hidden Default user When you create that admin profile at logon and install software then create a user they get nothing in the HKCU keys... Cause they get the HKCU keys from the Default user profile which has not been updated cause you where updating the admin HKCU not the default user account,,, And as far as Mhz question NO i'm not takong over the town and kicking you out... All the stuff that gets loaded go into the default user profile,,, Then branch out and as far as creating a fresh user if you have a problem just remember the ADMIN and the default user share the HKLM with all users so if the misshap is in the HKLM you get the mishap to .. So in reality there is no fresh clean admin or default user once people start using the register cause the HKLM is shared,,, If the mishap is in someonces HKCU then you may be able to save them by comparing the HKCU or just make them a new desktop.. It is confusing YES it is.. You can take the restriction out to hide the admin account after you get done then create a admin account the hid it again. if you want,,, And no I didn't stop you from making more accounts,,, If you have never made a admin account you will not see one in the file folders anyway... So when you have a problem it is to late to thing about the admin account which is joke anyway if the mishap is in the HKLM........ I'm confused,,, This is a good tutorial on the basics http://www.winguides.com/article.php?id=1&guide=registry This is the site that I started learning from the old timers on how it all worked It has gone to the dogs as far as the forum goes cause most of the old tiimers have left... The old timers new there stuff ..... LOL Just think of the register like the CD players with the flat tray where you can lay 5 CD's on... OK now when you want to play a cd you hit the button till the CD you want starts to play..........if one CD get messed up you can just replace that one CD that is the HKCU and the HKLM is the whole player if it gets messed none of the CD's will play,,, No matter what you do.. The CD player BOX is the HKLM.... Admin and the hidden default user clean desktop is a joke.... The admiin and the hidden default user takes up two of those CD spaces except there is a plastic cover over the Default user CD so you canNOT see it or touch it or replace it... I have removed the plastic cover over the default user CD... Darn where did that come from.. You say.. And that Admin Cd is not installed until you put the CD in the tray by default The HKCU keys for the admin are never created unless you log in to the desktop or profile at least once... JUST a blank stop label admin and there is no CD in the slot... And in reallity 2 of the 5 spots is used up one is label admin and no other CD will play in that spot and there is no CD in ther,, and one CD that will never play cause of the plastic cover.......... HUM you say Do you see the light yet! Mac!
  11. LOL then you would take all the fun out of it... It takes a while to code stuff The correct syntax is killer........ I'm a get out the glue gun person.. It you find something that works test it then play with the code.. to make it how you want it... Mac!
  12. LOL Thanks for asking Me but I'm just a newbie at this too. I'm reading and playing... I have not even messed with WMP 10 yet... UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just to let you know I looked over the post and the WMP 10 is not a upgrade it is a full version so I went with the runonceEX idea that I saw posted elsewhere in a thread here,,, I load stuff from the d:\ drive I'm not sure if this is totally correct yet,, but it is the basics. You will have to do you paths,,, I did do a quick one on this drive using a short cut and it install and all is fine... REG ADD %KEY%\240 /VE /D "MS Windows Media Player 10" /f REG ADD %KEY%\240 /V 1 /D "%XPCD%\WMP10\WMP10.exe /Q:A /C:\"setup_wm.exe /DisallowSystemRestore /Q /R:N\"" /f
  13. Hi All! As you all know when you install Windows XP Pro Corp At the end you have to pick a profile name.. Well from then on you might as well throw the real Default User profile out the window,, cause any changes that you make are really going into the profile that was created at the First logon stage.. HKCU yes I know the HKLM keys are common... It took me a few days to dig up the info on the internet and I have made it so it will put you on the default desk top.. then continue with the installations of your favorite programs... I was surpised it only took a few lines of Code.. Follow the direction on this page for creating a user http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/autologon.htm Changes These lines to read Don't use a password net user "Default User" /add net localgroup Administrators "Default User" /add net accounts /maxpwage:unlimited REGEDIT /S autologon.reg EXIT Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon] "DefaultUserName"="Default User" "DefaultPassword"="" "AutoAdminLogon"="1" When the system reboots it will give you a profile call Default User.Domain We will use the runoneEX keys to Change the ProfileImagePath from the Default User.Domain to the real hidden Default user .... Here is how... In your runoneex.cmd put this at the beginning I would have loved to do this sooner But the keys are not there until you login to a profile,,, NOTE If you notice if you never log into the admin profile you never see one in the file folder.. Same here you have to login at least once cmdow @ /HID @echo off SET KEY=HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx REG ADD %KEY% /V TITLE /D "Preparing Default User Profile Stage 1" /f REG ADD %KEY%\000 /VE /D "Default User Swap" /f REG ADD %KEY%\000 /V 1 /D "%XPCD%\~SIDefaultuser\~SIDefaultuser.cmd" /f REG ADD %KEY%\000 /V 2 /D "%XPCD%\~SIDefaultuser\~SIDShutDownBlocker.cmd" /f You can include you keys too cause when it reboots it will start with the next runonceex keys The following are the files that it calls ~SIDefaultuser.cmd cmdow @ /HID @echo off Cls TITLE SID Finish ECHO. ECHO SID Finish %XPCD%\~SIDefaultuser\Sid.vbs Start /wait shutdown.exe -r -f -t 60 -c "Windows XP will now restart in 1 minute And you will be on the Default User Profile" ECHO. ECHO Restarting the PC in 1 minute... EXIT ~SIDShutDownBlocker.cmd <<<--- This pause the runonceex from going on to your keys until after it reboots..... It is hidden cmdow @ /HID @echo off Cls TITLE SID Swap ShutDown Continue Blocker ECHO. ECHO SID Swap ShutDown Continue Blocker ECHO. ECHO This is a hidden Pause ECHO For the ~SIDefaultuser.cmd ECHO To finish the profile swap Pause EXIT Sid.vbs On Error Resume Next DIM HKLMLOC strComputer = "." Set objWMIService = GetObject("winmgmts:\\" & strComputer & "\root\cimv2") Set colItems = objWMIService.ExecQuery("Select * from Win32_Account",,48) For Each objItem in colItems If objItem.Name = "Default User" then HKLMLOC = "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\" & objItem.SID & "\ProfileImagePath" Set WshShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell") WshShell.RegWrite HKLMLOC,"%SystemDrive%\Documents and Settings\Default User","REG_EXPAND_SZ" END IF Next Also if you installed NET Frame hide it along with the Admin somewhere in the GUI-mode setup meger this into the register Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 ;Disable ASPNET and Administrator User [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList] "ASPNET"=dword:00000000 "Administrator"=dword:00000000 You are on your own as far as getting rid of the folder C:\Documents and Settings\Default User.Domain You don't need it anymore trash it... What ever you do don't get rid of the plain folder C:\Documents and Settings\Default User cause that is what you are using after the swap... Enjoy being on the default Desktop,,, Enjoy Mac! P.S. I never Ran Profiles in windows 98SE cause of the way the register works ,, I always kept it at one level with no profile folder. I don't see a way around that in XP yet..
  14. You may need a path to extract it to.... make sure you select make it a self extracting exe ;The comment below contains SFX script commands Path=C:\installnetfx SavePath Setup=netfx.msi /qb!- Silent=1 Overwrite=1 The /qb!- is silent install but show the progress bar and hide the cancel button.. The !- will not work with the /qn switch... as far as I know it will be kicked out on any msi... in the svcpack.inf no other switches are required it will not reboot... I named mine netfx.exe and put it a folder called update My path -- D:\XPCD\SS-Root\I386 This is the svcpack.inf also did you delete the svcpack.in_ in the 386 folder if you don't windows will use the svcpack.in_ instead.... [Version] Signature="$Windows NT$" MajorVersion=5 MinorVersion=1 BuildNumber=2600 [SetupData] CatalogSubDir="\i386\Update" [ProductCatalogsToInstall] [SetupHotfixesToRun] KB831240.exe /qb netfx.exe QCHAIN.exe LOL As a note I really don't care where something gets loaded as long as it gets installed... I put the updates in the svcpack.inf to try and keep it organzied some what,, Mac!
  15. Ok Thanks All! For putting up with my newbie guestions I got it worked out now.. I see where and why it was confusing the bee gees out of me... I did get it to load in the SVCPACK.INF used this below for the SFX and named it netfx.exe LOL I did try the start /wait and it kicked it out... I like the /qb!- cause it gives some feedback but doesn't show the cancel button.. ;The comment below contains SFX script commands Path=C:\installnetfx SavePath Setup=netfx.msi /qb!- Silent=1 Overwrite=1 So I'm off to the next adventure.. But to bed for me first... I said that a few post ago.. LOL by the time I get done playing I will be well rounded cause what really confuses the issue it seems like every silent install that I have done has been different some how and will not work like the last few,, Whoo Hoo! Next time I'll Know better Mac!
  16. OK I checked the file in the folder after the update and it show ok 2032 BUt when you open the Net Configuration 1.1 and go about it shows version 1.1.4322.573 LOL who the heck did there beta testing.. This should have been updated to... All this stuff is confusing to Newbie,, I don't know all the options yet,, The files underneath may have got changed but not the about page,, BOO HO... Has anyone got this thing to work using the SVCPACK.inf I swap out the old and put the new SFX file in place of like what you all talked about in this thread but it didn't install anything... [SetupHotfixesToRun] KB831240.exe /qb DOTNETFW.exe QCHAIN.exe It did load and work in the svcpack.inf when I did the updates separate,,, Can you use the Start /wait in a SFX file I try changing the line to run Start /wait netfx.msi /qb I tried the netfx.msi /qb already should I have just left it plain netfx.msi ?????????????????????????????? I used this so far ;The comment below contains SFX script commands Path=%temp% SavePath Setup=netfx.msi /qb Silent=1 Overwrite=1 Mac!
  17. The file version are the same before and after I did a hand install of both Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Displays as Version 1927 (1.1.4322.573) tomorrow I will do it the same but run install watchpro and save the files to do a beyond compare check too... I will be confused till then OK just did a quick compare of the extracted and mix back files posted and the file version for the file MSCOREE.DLL on the cab files is 1.1.4322.573 after you mix them the file versions is 1.1.4322.2032 and that is a older file,,, When you check the admin services it shows 1.1.4322.573 so I will assume the 2032 is older than the 573,,,, ??????????????????? HUM Where is the beef,,, Looks like we don't need this... Mac!
  18. Have you heard any thing like this I run fat32 HUM!!!!!!!!!! I also read some post that the SP1 that was ship on the XP SP@ disc is not the correct one ,, I am waiting on the CD then I'll be able to check ..... also looks like it has not been kicked in on the update site maybe that is what confused the crap out of me... found on this page http://msdn.microsoft.com/newsgroups/defau...7e-31b5adae4d49
  19. LOl I know the page that is refered to says 1.1 SP1 but when I load up the latest 1.1 from the download site and install then go back it doesn't say I need 1.1 sp1.. It maybe for if you have already installed a old version 1.1 HUM I am downloading the one from the windows update site now ,, cause I got mine from a different MS$ page...That one may have may have/not have SP1 already.. So I'm going to see if it is different I'm on dial up and it is my bed time.. I'm loading up a plain one now and I will use this page to check the versions http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=318785 Last Reviewed: 8/25/2004 (7.0) The sp1 page is Last Reviewed: 8/31/2004 (1.0) I will check the Before and after versions... MaC!
  20. LOL I think the joke is on all of us useless I missed something here This so called SP2 update is for Netfx version 1.0 not netfx version 1.1 I did some surfing at the microsoft support site The highest version is netfx Displays as Version 1927 (1.1.4322.573) Last Reviewed: 8/25/2004 (7.0) Have a look at this page http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=318785 and this one http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=318836 three is 3 SP for version 1.0 At the present time I loaded up XP Pro Corp with SP2 with no updates I did figure out when you install updates now they have a download manager and it saves updates in this folder.. C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download I already trapped my camera drivers there Now I'm going for the netframe v1.1 to see if it the same.... Mac!
  21. There is no cab file after you extract and mix in the C:\netfx I don't thing Iexpress is working for this one when I did one the finish file was 2 Mb// HUM! MaC!
  22. What is wrong with this why extract and mix then make a sfx file I'm install my regular programs from the D: drive anyway... [Version] Signature="$Windows NT$" MajorVersion=5 MinorVersion=1 BuildNumber=2600 [setupData] CatalogSubDir="\i386\Update" [ProductCatalogsToInstall] [setupHotfixesToRun] KB831240.exe /qb DOTNETFW.exe <<-- made with express install.... KB867460.exe /qb QCHAIN.exe Other than that I have never made a sfx file so how do you do that,, with the files that you ended up with in C:\netfx If I have this right the file NDP1.1sp1-KB867460-X86.exe is a patch for the dotnetfx.exe from 2003 Mac!
  23. Hey All! I know this has been posted many times in this forum how to speed up your dial-up connection and I always said there is no way well I lied,,, I found this great little program at Daemon tools... Called StarPort - iSCSI Initiator and RAM disk OH boy I installed it and made a ram drive then I moved the Temporary Internet Files onto the Rocket Disk,,,, also go into the system propreties and turn off system restore for what ever drive you end up on.... http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/portal/dow...=Download&id=64 if that doesn't work go here and look for starPort http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/portal/dow...tegory&catid=13 OH boy what a difference,, try it you will like it ,,, look in the help file on how to start a Ram drive... and in the IE options move the Temporary Internet Files onto the Ram Drive.. I used 400 MB ... I looked along time ago for a Ram Drive program but I never found one that work... I just loaded this one and boy what a difference... Well i'm off to load this thing on the wife Hard drive,,, Mac!
  24. Hi! All! Don't know if this will work on all programs,,, But I hope this helps others............. In some programs that you silent install there is no switch for this... So here goes.... When I went to install adshield the first time it pops up that bloody \Start Menu\Programs\Adshield shortcut folder while it is installing .. well while I was playing I noticed it didn't poup when I removed it and reinstalled it.. When I looked the folder was still there with nothing in it,,, so what I did was remove the folder and tried it again bingo there it was,,, So what I do is create the folder with the shortcuts in it right before I do the fresh install bingo it is gone.... Here is the vbs script I used for this one On Error Resume Next 'Declare var's and objects Dim WshS, fso, sysr, sysd, home, aup, cpf, pf, up, XPCD Set WshS = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell") Set fso = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") 'Expand Environment 'Create const's to spare time and place sysr = WshS.ExpandEnvironmentStrings("%SystemRoot%") sysd = WshS.ExpandEnvironmentStrings("%Systemdrive%") home = WshS.ExpandEnvironmentStrings("%Homepath%") aup = WshS.ExpandEnvironmentStrings("%AllUsersProfile%") cpf = WshS.ExpandEnvironmentStrings("%CommonProgramfiles%") pf = WshS.ExpandEnvironmentStrings("%Programfiles%") up = WshS.ExpandEnvironmentStrings("%UserProfile%") XPCD = WshS.ExpandEnvironmentStrings("%XPCD%") fso.CopyFolder XPCD & "\Adshield\Programs\AdShield", aup & "\Start Menu\Programs\AdShield" , true This folder has the shortcuts in it XPCD & "\Adshield\Programs\AdShield" Enjoy Mac!
  25. start /wait %XPCD%\DAEMONTools\DaemonTools.msi /qn REBOOT="ReallySuppress" Works like a Champ.. That was the correct syntax that they post at daemon Now that that works i'll grab the newer deamom installer Mac!
