  1. sounds good..but how? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If we are still specifically talking about Media Center there really isn't any need to be messing about with 3rd party apps like nLite, you're just making things more complicated than they have to be. All you have to do is copy 1 folder from CD2 to the root of your CD1
  2. That sounds completely impossible to me. You can't have half your unattended apps on 1 disc and the other half on another. You should combine the components folder to make the MCE install 1 disc and if you really have to use a 2nd disc there is a disc swapping program available here on the MSFN forums. Its very easy to shrink MCE down to almost the same size as standard XP, just combine the 2 MCE discs and treat the rest of the project as a standard XP Ua disc. You should really consider using a DVD instead of swapping discs.
  3. You should see a COMPONENTS (or is it CMPNTS?) folder on CD2. Copy the contents of CD1 to your hard disk and copy the COMPONENTS folder to the same folder. You can delete the Tablet CAB file to save space. Now burn this to a CD/DVD and you should no longer be prompted for CD2.
  4. This seemed the most fitting thread to dig up to ask my question. I am about to reinstall with my latest uA DVD but I don't want to lose all the cookie-blocking settings I have configured. In IE if you go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Privacy -> Sites you can list a load of domains from which you do not want to accept cookies. I cannot figure out how to backup this list. I tried searching the registry for some of the more abnormal domain names but found nothing. Is there any way to achieve this? Thanks
  5. I have been using WPI for quite a long time now but have found that all of a sudden, once the desired programs have been selected and you hit "Begin install" my full desktop starts to load, including start button while the little "Installing applications" is still going. Previously the desktop wouldn't start to load until all the apps had all been installed and cleanup.cmd had finished, can anyone think why this would suddenly change?
  6. PryGuy's vbs script worked fine for me but it's had the unwanted side-effect of auto arranging my favourites in Internet Explorer - I don't like that. I don't want to have to run my disc again as I've spent a while setting a few things up - can anyone tell me how to reverse this without reinstalling minus the VBS script? Cheers.
  7. Thank you so much jrf2027, I wil try this right now!
  8. Here's just 1 example: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=46285 Within this thread is a link to another regarding NIS2005 but when I click it I get: "Sorry, the link that brought you to this page seems to be out of date or broken" I have been looking for a particular thread that I found last week while at work about integrating the NIS2005 URL update into my unattended XP disc but every thread I find that links to another on this topic brings back the same "Sorry, the link that brought you to this page seems to be out of date or broken" Whats going on? Have you deleted these old threads (they aren't even that old) or have you changed the way the forum is structured rendering old links useless? Either way can you please sort it out asap? Cheers.
  9. I'm looking for the thread that tells you how to integrate the 30MB URL update into NIS2005. I know this has been posted before cos I've read it myself while at work but all the links within other threads that link to it are now broken - whats with that? Anyway, I've spent the last 20 mins trying to find it using the search page but no joy so can someone please post a good link to that thread, thanks.
  10. They aren't in my i386 directory - I have to manually copy each one there and then it just reports that another file is missing. I have been moving 1 file, rebuilding ISO and testing over and over since yesterday afternoon and I'm still getting errors. But now that I have used it how do I restore the structure to what it was before? And why does the MS driver pack cause this problem?
  11. I didn't bother taking the names down because we're talking like 20+ files and they are all files that exist in my driver.cab and/or in the DP\M folder. The one I just got (because I'm still copying 1 file at a time from DP or driver.cab into the root of i386 every time a file is reported missing) is ahpt3xx.sys. Now this one doesn't exist at all and after a bit of searching turns out it should be hpt3xx.sys and is mis-spelt in dosnet.inf. How did that happen? Once I get rid of all these missing file errors I'm not going to update the driver packs again as it was all fine until I installed the latest versions of everything.
  12. I am also having problems with files being reported missing that aren't missing at all since using the Mass Storage driver pack. I have read this thread twice over now but still can't quite get my head around why this happens. The files that it tells me are missing are actually in my driver.cab - why doesn't it see them?
  13. I am also having problems with files being reported missing at the initial file copy stage. Until I found this thread I have been locating the file reported as missing (always in DP\*\*) and moving it into the root of \i386. Then I rebuild the ISO and try again only to find another file is now missing. I have repeated this 6 or 7 times and I'm sick of it now. When I read the 4096 char limit statement I though this would be it but I have checked my OemPnPDriversPath and it is not that long. Here it is: OemPnPDriversPath="D\01_wifi;D\02_bgold;D\03_iiyama;D\04_link54g;D\05_audio;D\06_Epson;D\07_nvidia;D\Belkin;DP\G\A\1;DP\G\A\1\WDM_XP;DP\G\N;DP\L\3\1;DP\L\3\2;DP\L\3\3;DP\L\B;DP\L\B\2;DP\L\BU\1;DP\L\BU\2;DP\L\BU\3;DP\L\D\1;DP\L\D\2;DP\L\D\3;DP\L\D\4;DP\L\D\5;DP\L\D\6;DP\L\D\7;DP\L\D\8;DP\L\I;DP\L\L\1;DP\L\L\2;DP\L\L\3;DP\L\L\3\B;DP\L\L\4;DP\L\L\5;DP\L\LI\1;DP\L\LI\2;DP\L\LI\3;DP\L\LI\4;DP\L\LI\5;DP\L\LI\6;DP\L\LI\7;DP\L\M;DP\L\MI;DP\L\N\1;DP\L\N\2;DP\L\N\3;DP\L\N\4;DP\L\N\5;DP\L\N\6;DP\L\N\7;DP\L\N\8;DP\L\NV;DP\L\O\1;DP\L\O\2;DP\L\O\3;DP\L\O\4;DP\L\O\5;DP\L\O\6;DP\L\O\7;DP\L\O\8;DP\L\R\1;DP\L\R\2;DP\L\S;DP\L\SM\1;DP\L\SM\2;DP\L\SM\3;DP\L\SM\4;DP\L\SM\5;DP\L\SM\6;DP\L\SM\7;DP\L\SM\8;DP\L\SM\9;DP\L\T;DP\L\V\1;DP\L\V\2;DP\L\V\3;DP\M\3\1;DP\M\3\2;DP\M\3\3;DP\M\A\1;DP\M\A\2;DP\M\A\3;DP\M\A\4;DP\M\A\5;DP\M\A\6;DP\M\A\7;DP\M\A\8;DP\M\AD\1;DP\M\AD\2;DP\M\AD\3;DP\M\AD\4;DP\M\AD\5;DP\M\AD\6;DP\M\AD\7;DP\M\AD\8;DP\M\AL;DP\M\AM;DP\M\AR;DP\M\D;DP\M\H\1;DP\M\H\2;DP\M\H\3;DP\M\H\4;DP\M\IB\1;DP\M\IB\2;DP\M\IN\1;DP\M\IN\2;DP\M\IT;DP\M\L\1;DP\M\L\2;DP\M\L\3;DP\M\L\4;DP\M\N;DP\M\P\1;DP\M\P\2;DP\M\P\3;DP\M\P\4;DP\M\P\5;DP\M\P\6;DP\M\P\7;DP\M\P\8;DP\M\Q\1;DP\M\Q\2;DP\M\Q\3;DP\M\Q\4;DP\M\S\1;DP\M\S\2;DP\M\S\3;DP\M\S\4;DP\M\S\5;DP\M\S\6;DP\M\S\7;DP\M\SI\1;DP\M\V\1;DP\M\V\2;DP\S\A;DP\S\C;DP\S\CR\LS\Win2K_XP;DP\S\CR\WDM;DP\S\M\1;DP\S\M\2;DP\S\M\3;DP\S\M\4;DP\S\M\5;DP\S\M\6;DP\S\M\7;DP\S\M\8;DP\S\M\9;DP\S\M\A;DP\S\M\B;DP\S\M\C;DP\S\M\D;DP\S\N;DP\S\R;DP\S\R\HD;DP\S\S;DP\S\SC;DP\S\SM\A\1;DP\S\SM\A\2;DP\S\SM\A\3;DP\S\SM\A\4;DP\S\SM\A\5;DP\S\SM\A\6;DP\S\SM\I;DP\S\T\1;DP\S\T\2;DP\S\T\3;DP\S\T\4;DP\S\T\5;DP\S\V;DP\S\Y\1;DP\S\Y\2;DP\W\3C\1;DP\W\3C\2;DP\W\3C\3;DP\W\3C\4;DP\W\3C\5;DP\W\3C\6;DP\W\3C\7;DP\W\A;DP\W\AS;DP\W\AT;DP\W\B\1;DP\W\B\2;DP\W\B\3;DP\W\B\4;DP\W\B\5;DP\W\B\6;DP\W\B\7;DP\W\B\8;DP\W\B\9;DP\W\BL\1;DP\W\BL\2;DP\W\BL\3;DP\W\BL\4;DP\W\BL\5;DP\W\BL\6;DP\W\BL\7;DP\W\BL\8;DP\W\BL\9;DP\W\BU\1;DP\W\BU\2;DP\W\BU\3;DP\W\BU\4;DP\W\BU\5;DP\W\BU\6;DP\W\BU\7;DP\W\BU\8;DP\W\BU\9;DP\W\BU\A;DP\W\C\1;DP\W\C\2;DP\W\D\1;DP\W\D\2;DP\W\D\2\A;DP\W\D\2\D;DP\W\D\2\E;DP\W\D\2\F;DP\W\D\3;DP\W\D\3\C;DP\W\D\3\D;DP\W\D\3\E;DP\W\D\4;DP\W\D\4\K;DP\W\D\4\L;DP\W\D\4\M;DP\W\D\4\P;DP\W\D\5;DP\W\D\6;DP\W\D\7;DP\W\D\8;DP\W\D\9;DP\W\D\A;DP\W\D\B;DP\W\D\C;DP\W\D\C\C;DP\W\D\D;DP\W\D\D\B;DP\W\D\E;DP\W\D\E\B;DP\W\D\E\C;DP\W\E\1;DP\W\E\2;DP\W\E\3;DP\W\E\4;DP\W\E\5;DP\W\E\6;DP\W\E\7;DP\W\E\8;DP\W\E\9;DP\W\E\A;DP\W\E\B;DP\W\E\C;DP\W\E\D;DP\W\E\E;DP\W\E\F;DP\W\E\G;DP\W\E\H;DP\W\E\I;DP\W\E\J;DP\W\EN\1;DP\W\EN\2;DP\W\I\1;DP\W\I\2;DP\W\I\3;DP\W\I\4;DP\W\I\5;DP\W\I\6;DP\W\L\1;DP\W\L\2;DP\W\L\2\4;DP\W\L\3;DP\W\L\3\2;DP\W\L\4;DP\W\L\5;DP\W\L\6;DP\W\L\6\3;DP\W\L\6\A;DP\W\L\6\B;DP\W\L\7;DP\W\L\8;DP\W\L\9;DP\W\L\9\2;DP\W\L\9\A;DP\W\L\A;DP\W\L\B;DP\W\L\B\1;DP\W\L\C;DP\W\L\C\2;DP\W\L\C\26;DP\W\L\C\3;DP\W\L\C\4;DP\W\L\C\A;DP\W\L\D;DP\W\L\E;DP\W\L\E\4;DP\W\L\E\A;DP\W\L\F;DP\W\M;DP\W\MI\1;DP\W\MI\2;DP\W\N\1;DP\W\N\2;DP\W\N\3;DP\W\N\4;DP\W\N\5;DP\W\N\6;DP\W\N\7;DP\W\O\1;DP\W\O\2;DP\W\O\3;DP\W\O\4;DP\W\R\1;DP\W\R\2;DP\W\S\1;DP\W\S\2;DP\W\S\3;DP\W\S\4;DP\W\S\5;DP\W\SE\1;DP\W\SE\2;DP\W\SE\3;DP\W\SE\4;DP\W\SE\5;DP\W\SI\1;DP\W\SI\2;DP\W\SI\2\U;DP\W\SI\3;DP\W\SI\3\U;DP\W\SIT\1;DP\W\SIT\2;DP\W\SIT\3;DP\W\SIT\4;DP\W\SIT\5;DP\W\SIT\6;DP\W\SIT\7;DP\W\SIT\8;DP\W\SIT\9;DP\W\SIT\A;DP\W\SIT\B;DP\W\SIT\C;DP\W\SIT\D;DP\W\SM\1;DP\W\SM\2;DP\W\SM\3;DP\W\SM\4;DP\W\SM\5;DP\W\SM\6;DP\W\SM\7;DP\W\SM\7\WINXP;DP\W\SM\8;DP\W\SM\9;DP\W\SM\A;DP\W\SM\B;DP\W\SM\C;DP\W\SM\D;DP\W\SU\1;DP\W\SU\2;DP\W\SU\3;DP\W\SU\4;DP\W\SU\5;DP\W\SU\6;DP\W\SU\7;DP\W\SU\8;DP\W\SU\9;DP\W\SU\A;DP\W\SU\B;DP\W\SU\C;DP\W\SU\D;DP\W\SU\E;DP\W\SU\F;DP\W\SU\G;DP\W\SU\H;DP\W\SU\I" DriverSigningPolicy= "Ignore" NonDriverSigningPolicy= "Ignore" To save you the trouble, this is 3,605 characters so is not over the limit. The latest file to be reported missing is dac2w2k.sys which is in DP\M\L\3. I searched my winnt.sif and this location is referenced so why is it not being found? If I move or copy this file to i386 it will work but I don't want to have to this another 20 times. Thanks for any help. Edit: I apologise for the stupidly sized codebox there but I tried CODE tags and CODEBOX tags and its still massive
  14. Great, that makes sense I just hadn't thought of that. Only problem is all my apps are copied to %systemdrive%\Install right at the start of setup so the 2nd disc's files wouldn't be copied. I guess I'll have to learn how to install from the actual DVD instead of copying to C:\Install first....
  15. I'm going to add the files from the link suplied in this thread to my UAXPCD when I get home - this thread is quite old though, are the files still up to date or will I still have to install more software when I run Windows Update?
  16. Wow, this is a great utility! If and when I breach the 4.37GB mark with my current unattended disc, will CD-Switch work in conjuntion with WPI? i.e. can it be made in such a way that the 2nd disc is only requested if you have selected to install anything from disc 2 with WPI?
  17. I'm having a similar problem and its only started since adding WPI to my unattended disc. I have a similar install order to the one you listed with a couple of differences. After WPI has ended I run all the cleanup commands, then call shutdown and last of all delete the %systemdrive%\Install folder. Heres the last chunk of my WPI.cmd: REGEDIT /S %systemdrive%\Install\regtweaks.reg ECHO. ECHO Restarting the PC in 2 minutes... shutdown.exe -r -f -t 150 -c "Installation of Windows XP Media Center 2005 and extra software is now complete. Windows will shut down and restart in 2 minutes, 30 seconds to complete the installation." RD /S /Q "%systemdrive%\Install" exit The shutdown command is called just fine but then is seems to hang and will only close and complete properly is I hit Ctrl-Alt-Del and kill cmd.exe. Of course, because the timer has started it reboots anyway and all is well but I then end up with the Windows Classic theme. Whats going on?
  18. This does not work - the reboot box still appears and because of the Start /wait command it never moves on to the taskkill command as the reboot box pauses SetupCloneDVD2.exe to wait for an answer.
  19. I have Serv-U 6.1.0.0 preinstalled from my unattended disc but you don't need to bother with any switches - I just installed it on my machine, registered it and setup all the user accounts etc and then copied the entire Serv-U folder into $OEM$\$Progs\Internet\
  20. I removed the reference to the hotfix that updates shell32.dll in svcpack.inf and it worked fine. I had already got the new shell32.dll and editted it and cabbed it up into my i386 directory but this stupid hotfix was running after this and overwriting it. I'm going to have to keep a real close eye on updates from now on and what files they contain.
  21. Sorry Alanoll, you're right, I should have spent a bit longer searching Looks like integrating updates doesn't actually update the files directly, just dumps the hotfix executable in a folder called "i386\svcpack" on you unattended CD. I was never aware of this till now - I thought the newer files were directly integrated, this explains why I could not find this elusive copy of shell32.dll. Thanks to Shark007 on this thread who clears it up quite nicely (at least I hope so - I'm burning my new ISO with an ammended svcpack.inf as I type) Fingers crossed..... Edit: Isn't there an easier way to do this - this is going to be a major pain in the a** everytime M$ replace certain files - can't hotfix exes be extracted, hacked and then recompiled?
