Hello everyone, I frequently face this problem, I don't know neither how nor where to know about NEW Microsoft updates & products (because most of the time Microsoft release an update, then later on it add it the list of updates such as v4.windowsupdate.com/catalog if it's an update for windows) My question is, is there a link in Microsoft web page that lists all updates and NEW ones that where released for Windows XP SP2, Office SP1 ? because this way I can check it frequently to see if there is a new update. I hope I could explained ! Thanks in advance.

To save you time, here is the the DirectX 8 Installer; now all you have to do is extract DX9 and replace it installer with this one dxsetup.zip
-
I prefer not to go deeper in how to hack the exe, rather I suggest that you download DirectX9c from Here and then download version 8.1 of DirectX which you can find Here. When you download them; Extract both of them using a Compression utility; then replace the installer of DirectX 9 with the one that comes with 8; you'r done; you can now install DirectX9 Silenty using /Silent ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- For further Info look Here

Strange problems with XP SP2 unattended
Stuntgp2000 replied to Stuntgp2000's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
I installed SP2 for the third time, this time I removed also those services (that I stated above) from my tweaks, still no luck. Iexplore.exe and Mediaplayer10 execs are in their folders but their icons are not on on my desktop. Windows Messenger 5 don't want to run, Windows Firewall is disabled, games & Entertainment are missing. Ok, Ok, Ok I've got it , since windows wants to play I will play with it, I will start everything from the beginning. B) I will post the result. -
Strange problems with XP SP2 unattended
Stuntgp2000 replied to Stuntgp2000's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
I Installed Sp2 again, after removing some registry tweaks and MSN Explorer (because I suspected that MSN Explorer is uncompatible with SP) This time things got worse, Nither Iexplore.exe nor Media player 10 exe are in their folder. I still can't use Windows Messenger 5, and Games & Entertainment are missing too. What I think now is that Those services that I either disabled or set to manual are the cause, I more especially Task scheduler; because I think it's used to do some updates during the first reboot. I got also another problem, Internet Connexion sharing and Windows Firewall Tab does have message (in French) that said Windows ICS & Firewall service is disabled; but when I went into Services to activate it, It told me then that this service (ICs & Firewall) have a dependencies which are not activated; I went to activate all services in windows, but still No result. What I really want to know is that is Task Scheduler needed in away or another durnig the first reboot ? Thanks in advance, I will try other Installations and I will Post my result later (Of course when I succeed) -
Strange problems with XP SP2 unattended
Stuntgp2000 replied to Stuntgp2000's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Secure Connexion Problem is solved : We are using a server that shares Internet Connexion, and it's also blocks many ports to prevent students from using P2P apps, this why Hotmail & other web pages that use Secure Connexion couldn't sign in. However, SP2 is tricky. Why ? Because all PCs that use SP1 can sign in in hotmail and other webs pages except the PCin which I installed SP2. After checking in the server, I have found that SP1 use some type of redirection to log in to Secure connexion, this is way the server allowed SP1 to log in; In stead, Sp2 tries to open the connexion directly to the remote server that uses Secure connexion. In other words SP1 Use WWW Proxy then it's redirected to NAT; but SP2 opens Nat directly, this why ther Server drop the connexion. Is this due the security reasons ? -
Strange problems with XP SP2 unattended

I also suspect that maybe Windows Messenger 5 or MSN EXPLORER 7 ruined IE & Secure connection , Because they are Installed during the first logon -

At first I thought that these services are source of the problem, but when I set them to run automatically, nothing changed ! do you think they are the problem ? Problem: Slipstreaming IE6SP1 in Win2K SP4
Stuntgp2000 replied to Stuntgp2000's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Hello everyone, I have bad news. @scorpi073, I have tried IEAK but it failed. @koszopal, I was already using your methode but It does not work. I am still having the same problem. I have also tried to separate DX9C from cmdlines.txt and I put it in the first logon. I made this because I was suspecting that IE6SP1 & DX9C hate each other. When I put IE6SP1 and all it hotfixes in cmdlines.txt and DX9C in firstlogon.cmd the result was worse. DX9C gave me lots of errors msgs (it said that KS.sys and others couldn't be installed properly) PLUS Explorer.exe crashed. In another installation, I forced Explorer.exe to be run in the first logon, but no success. The only two ways that remain are either 1) To Install DX9c in cmdlines.txt and IE6SP1 + all it hotfixes in the first logon and by doing so I have to make 2 reboots 2) To Install IE6SP1 in cmdlines.txt and DX9c and IE hotfixes in the first logon and by doing so I have only to reboot once. What I need from you, my friends, which one should I use in my next try ? I will post my results again when I finish the next try. B) -
Problem: Slipstreaming IE6SP1 in Win2K SP4
Stuntgp2000 replied to Stuntgp2000's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
@historic in my batch file that installs hotfixes, I have Windows Installer v2 first then IE6SP1, I made them in that order to shorten the path (Directly Install IE6SP1 hotfixes not IE5 hotfixes then IE6SP1 hotfixes) @scorpi073 I Will try IEAK6 Thanks to all, but I am really confused about @ToBe Post so any clear answer about that topic. -

Hello everyone, I went to Install Windows 2000 SP4 with the latest hotfixes & softwares, and IE6SP1 is one of them. Over all installation of this windows I got the same error; IE prevent windows from starting normally in the first logon. I noticed that neither explorer.exe does load nor any other software (Hotfix, Dxdllreg.exe). Is there ANY way to automatically install IE6SP1 over Win2k? or Slipstream it? I added it to CmdLines.txt and IE6SP1 installed flawlessly but on the next (or first) logon, it has to configure some settings and other programs which shud run dont run at the immediate next logon but at the second logon. Thanks in advance

Pbl : Full screen moviz & Display freq > 85hz
Stuntgp2000 replied to Stuntgp2000's topic in Hardware Hangout
Yes, I made many tries using different video players with many different codecs. I googled I found that same people report that they have the same problem and the only way to play movies in full screen to set your display frequency below 85hz -
Hello everyone, Long ago, I have noticed that I can't see movies as I would see them when I play them in full screen since I bought a 17" screen (I had 15"). My problem is whenever I play a movie in full screen, picture quality and frame rate become low. I downloaded the latest drivers for my graphic card (Intel 810) assuming that the problem is the driver. but no improvement. Then I suggested maybe the problem is on codecs, I went to download the latest codecs and they changed nothing. I googled & invistigated and I found a workarround, If I wish to play a movie in full screen I must first reduce display frequency to at least 75hz (60hz is the best). But yesterday I was surprised I played a movie in full screen using 85hz perfectly without any problem. The Only Differrence is that I was using Windows 2000. My question is why windows 2000 plays movies without any problem while windows xp does ?

It seems Interresting, I will give it a try. Good work
