  1. I choose to integrate Internet Explorer 7 and when nLite comes to that points, it asks me if I want to overwrite the newer file in install source with an older one? Obviously I choose to keep the newer one but why is it doing that? My install source is SP3 Pro. Did SP3 pro update some files to newer ones and IE 7 has older versions of those files? All of my other updates are after IE7, by the way, including the IE7 cumulative update.
  2. I tried it with nLite and it works like a charm. No problems on my part.
  3. good one, esp the freudian virus
  4. Thanks. Downloaded, integrated with nlite and works. No errors when installing Sound Forge 8.0d on virtual machine. :-)
  5. looks like you may have a hidden recovery partition. is it a laptop? i think some desktops also have hidden partitions. reason is you are showing your c: partition size to be 24.7 gb. the other space is either unpartitioned or in a recovery partition. right-click my computer --> manage --> disk management take screenshot and post here.
  6. Use Belarc advisor, www.belarc.com. It's free. It gives you product keys for MS Office as well. Great program to take inventory of your PC hardware and software + security updates.
  7. So are you saying in XP it takes longer? Or are you saying you've never used the sleep feature in XP? Or are you saying you've never used the sleep feature instead of the hibernate? There is a difference in sleep vs. hibernate. Hibernate will give you the "Resuming Windows" loading screen even in Vista. However, sleep in Vista or XP work the same way; it will put the computer to sleep and it turns on instantly to your desktop. Note that sleep does not save your state in memory. In case of power failure, your work is lost. Sleep does consume some energy, though, so for laptops, you will lose battery life when put to sleep.
  8. There are many apps. UltraISO is my favorite. When UDF was new, they did not support it but I imagine all of them have been updated to support it now. Filedisk has probably not been updated as winimage is still 8.0 version for many years now.
  9. I'm sure that feature is somewhere in options not sure where but right after you type Enter, if you press the back key, it will be the way it was. so, hit backspace and it's undo the conversion to line.
  10. That's right, I forgot about that. That's why I hate downloading large files with IE. It doesn't check the file destination space like 3rd party will do.
  11. My guess is, it is probably not due to the browser itself, but windows, which will access the file as soon as it's downloaded and modify the time stamp. There is a way to disable this feature of windows xp and may want to check this out: http://blogs.techrepublic.com.com/window-on-windows/?p=564. You may try it and see if it works.
  12. CHIPS CLIPS SLIPS SLOPS SLOPE
  13. You probably just need to increase the youtube video player volume. have you recognized the controls on the youtube video player?
  14. Look at the application install section of the forum. you should have posted your question there in the first place but your answer is already there if you searched.
  15. And I also assume that .Net 2.0 would have included all the previous ones when it came out, right? I, however, had a problem installing Sony Sound Forge 8.0, which required .Net 1.0. I had to install .Net 1.0, then upgrade to 2.0. Is there a way for these apps to recognize that .Net is installed after installing the latest without having to install all the ones in between?
  16. Sticking with XP. Should this be in the Poll Section!
  17. Mine are post-sp3 so you must have sp3 installed. Only thing he has that I don't is the ActiveX Killbits cumulative update. Otherwise the lists are similar. Only the KB article numbers may differ depending what he's linking to and what I'm linking to.
  18. Okay, well, I don't know of any site that does this, but you can easily create an excel sheet (or any freeware spreadsheet program) that calculates this: Assume L and W are the length and width of the base rectangle and h is the height of the pyramid. Also, I'm assuming the pyramid is a right pyramid, meaning that the peak of the pyramid is exactly over the center of the base rectangle. The, the height of the triangular side on the rectangle's width, Hw, is given by: Hw = sqrt[(L/2)^2 + h^2] where sqrt is square root. Having determined Hw, we can now find the length of the side, S, of this triangular side to be S = sqrt[Hw^2 + (W/2)^2] = sqrt[(L/2)^2 + (W/2)^2 + h^2)] Now, on the rectangle's length side, the height of the triangle, HL, is HL = sqrt[h^2 + (W/2)^2]. Note that the sides of the triangle have equal length. Thus, it's easy to make a spreadsheet with these formulas. Good luck.
  19. It don't matter if the HDD is new or old. What cluberti is trying to say is, the HDD was partitioned with a tool that doesn't support large HDD's. Thus, the remaining space is unallocated. All he needs to do is install Vista and use Vista's partition manager to delete all partitions that recreate them. Or, if he doesn't want to reinstall, he can create new partitions in the unallocated space in disk management. But, in my opinion, it's a pretty big partition for Vista.
  20. Great tool. Only one thing - it doesn't track file changes like the older version. Am I right?
  21. If you use regshot 2.0 to capture the registry entries, you can easily turn this into a portable application, so you can carry it on a usb flash drive. after you're done using it, just run the undo reg file and it'll get rid of all the reg entries. only problem is you'll have to edit the drive assignment of the flash drive since it will be different for different computers. i tried using a expandable variable %Nero% to point to the files (to avoid having to edit the reg file), but it errors out on advrcntl.dll. Looks like expandable variables don't work at some parts of the registry. ________________________ Nevermind, it doesn't work on a computer where Nero where never installed. Back to the drawing board.
  22. Well, since we've kind of exhausted the 4 letter game, would anyone be willing to try the same for 5 letters? Right now, I see that this would be very difficult... but worth a try. How about starting with this word related to computers: CHIPS
  23. Okay, the link doesn't open the item anymore; so what's intriguing me is "You bought something you didn't know what you were buying!!!!????" And how much did you pay for it????
  24. What exactly do you mean by the "dimensions" of a pyramid? Do you want the surface area of the pyramid? The volume? The height of one of the sides of a pyramid? What kind of pyramid is it? 3 sided, 4 sided, 5 sides? You're asking a math question with so many variables unaccounted for!
