Yep, that is the main problem, though usually Partition Magic works very well, it has on some peculiar configurations, disastrous effects. The best thing you can do at this point is trying to RE-Build the Partition Table. If you remember, more or less, how the disk was partitioned before the diasaster, please post this information, together with EXACT model/make of the disk, it could help make some sense out of the PARTINFO data you already posted to help you rebuild it manually. Alternatively you could try using TESTDISK: http://www.cgsecurity.org/testdisk.html read my posts here: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=50179 http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=43132 http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=59145 http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=30378&st=30 jaclaz

Yep, sure, noone said it was uncrackable, major companies have spended millions of $ to find an uncrackable one and all they got was to delay the start of the copying for a few weeks at most. Since the prospected use is: probably it can do the job. jaclaz

Hey guys, why don't you just refrain from posting "random" hints? @JohnS Read these posts of mine: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=51016 http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=33030 http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=25365 get yourself bootpart: http://www.winimage.com/bootpart.htm and/or read these: http://thpc.info/dualboot.html jaclaz

If it is possible, it has to be on MDGX pages: http://www.mdgx.com/ or you can try the 98SE2ME: http://www.mdgx.com/98-5.htm#KRM9S http://www.msfn.org/board/?showtopic=46349 jaclaz

Here is a way to avoid inserting the cd-key: http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=8751&hl= (rather complex) jaclaz

Yes, the red stripe goes on pin #1 of the connector. Usually on the floppy it is on the OPPOSITE side as compared to HD/CD. (but there is always a "1" near the connector) jaclaz

You need to use command line switches, read this: http://www.broomeman.com/support/wsiedown.html jaclaz

There are quite a lot of them, I can recommend these two: (more "technical") http://www.c1tech.com.tw/Dload/i_disk/UsbIDCheck.zip just what you need: CHECKUDISK v5.0 http://www.wbj3000.com/checkudisk.rar If you want to retrieve all the Vid&Pid ever mounted from the Registry, you could use my small batch files: http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?sho...ic=14181&st=186 (but read the entire thread): http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=14181 jaclaz P.S.: There is this "unofficial" list: http://www.linux-usb.org/usb.ids

Unattended install using USB Flash Drive
jaclaz replied to techxp's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Don't want to seem rude or anything like that, but you really should search: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=61049 http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=61384 You see, if everyone comes here and starts a new thread, good (and bad) info will be scattered around, if we try our best to keep a small number of active threads it will be easier to find them and the infos are kept together. jaclaz -

According to the players manual: http://download.orbyxelectronics.com/orbyx...uals/manual.pdf no driver is needed Maybe you should try "detecting new hardware" with the player connected and switched on? jaclaz

You see, XP is VERY "hardware dependent", moving an already installed system to a different PC is NOT straightforward. Read this: http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/moving_xp.html You "could" try booting from a Windows XP CD and select a "Repair install". jaclaz

The drive is probably defective. Read this: http://www.accurite.com/FloppyPrimer.html You should try it on another motherboard, if it still does not work, you can try cleanng it: http://dawn.thot.net/cd/149.html jaclaz

Just an idea, but you could setup a "burning server" with an app like this one: http://www.samspublishing.com/articles/art...p?p=389719&rl=1 The CD image is generated on the client machine, then transferred to to the server. I a not sure about this, as I never used this app, but surely it is possible to keep on HD the sent image for later review.... jaclaz

Yep, really good job, biohazard. And a good job by Xpero as well, the dancing kitten is really nice.... ....but I did some searching as well, and, though I did not find anything related to XPero's original question, I found this : WARNINGS: 1) LINK CONTAINS MUSIC (you need your speakers ON) 2) POSSIBLY COMPLETELY OFF-TOPIC 3) UNDOUBTEDLY ADDICTING If you read the disclaimer, go here : http://www.unknown.it/materiale/titipa/tititipa.html The original italian text, approximately translated in English goes like this: ...now as I see it, the original culprit is XPero, I would never have found it otherways..... Have a Merry Christmas, mates! jaclaz

...willing to help me in contacting the author or translating into English this nice program: http://www.crsky.com/soft/4032.html http://www.foroo.com/ http://www.foroo.com/ USBOOT v.1.68 It seems like it works very well, as a replacement for the HP USB formatting utility.... Unfortunately the interface is in Simplified Chinese only, and it seems like it is not possible to copy text from the attached PDF file with help to use some translation tool.... Also.... if anyone is able through baidu.com or some other Chinese search engine to find a download link for the version 2.8.5.5 (or later) of the OTI "Productiontool Multi Device": http://www.51made.net/readnews.asp?newsid=204 Best I could find was release 2.3.49.1 here: http://www.nqa.cn/blog/article.asp?id=71 Thanks in advance. jaclaz

Yep, I thought that, just trying to make some humour. Well nothing compared when they gave away the Win2k 120 days trial disk, that once installed on dual-boot on a NT4 system, changed the NTFS FILESYSTEM, upgrading it, with NO warning and the NT4 chkdsk did not work anymore! Here is an article of the MS knowledgebase, though maybe it is useless, probably even the second copy of the bootsector has been changed by VISTA: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...b;EN-US;q153973 A test you could try, (only if you have a backup) is trying a Repair install from the XP CD. jaclaz

I didn't know that Recovery Console had FDISK. You can TRY to use this nice utility MBRFIX: link is on my page http://home.graffiti.net/jaclaz:graffiti.net/ together with my small GUI for it Though I suspect that VISTA does NOT change just the MBR, but also the BOOTSECTOR of the C:\ partition. If that partition is FAT, you can use bootpart to repair it: http://www.winimage.com/bootpart.htm Try foolowing the instructions here: http://www.tech-recipes.com/microsoft_vista_tips1040.html Also read this: http://www.pro-networks.org/forum/about66468.html Otherwise you will probably need to hexedit your bootsector, NOT a nice chore. jaclaz

Ditto as above. Nice find! jaclaz

Cannot say, maybe yes, maybe no. I remember once I made an error connecting an internal (PS/2) trackball to a notebook. The chip on the treckball microboard went rapidly hot as hell, but after I (promptly) disconnected it and let it cool down, it worked. I suspect that mice are less "fragile".... jaclaz
