  1. Google it? You're not coming from the old dos days I assume?
  2. I don't use vueprint, but right off the bat I can imagine 3 solutions to it... -AutoIt -Repackage or what might be the easiest way... If it's like vuescan (I use that one and not vurprint but chances are that it works similarly). You can just copy the files, and the registration is kept as a keyfile too, so you can just make a backup of the folder, and either copy it back or use some sfx to extract it. I have no idea if it has other things like shell integration, preferences or other things in the registry though.
  3. One word: smartdrv.exe
  4. Set one to master and one to slave. Not cable select.
  5. Not like you're missing out or anything
  6. Intel - more performance? Not really... I'm not a big fan of OC'ing, but a couple days ago I stumbled across an article that tested how a cheap socket 754 Sempron 3100+ would overclock - with stock everything (just changing a couple bios settings) and the results were pretty unreal. They hit something like over 4000+ equiv, not bad for a cpu that sells around 110$ (the socket 754 mobos are pretty cheap too). Now that's value for the money, guess I'm not buying a Athlon 64 anymore B) Found the link... Sempron 3100+ OC'ing
  7. I beleive there used to be one, but it wasn't popular enough or something like that... I would have really liked it. I guess they say "build it, they will come", so I just "made" #MSFN on efnet (no eggdrops or anything yet, just idling there for now) Everybody's welcome, feel free to join. We'll see if there really any interest I guess...
  8. That's what I mostly use too (for computers). Other types of equipment has other kinds of UPS'es (like enclosures/racks full of batteries and a controller). Not all UPS'es are alike.
  9. I use the new nvDVD 4 filters in my Zoom Player graph. It definately rocks
  10. I've had some major problems with it like that too... Now, the ugly part is, it uses some low level stuff, and it tends to protect itself well too Reformatting would definately get rid of it. Deleting the files from WinPE or such *might* work, but I'm sure there is more to it (registry entries and what not). Removing low level drivers like that just might crash it hard. there's several files: depfrzlo.sys : kernel driver depfrzhi.sys : filesystem driver dfserv.exe : the service it installed frzstate.exe : the password app persis00.sys : password file (replace with one that uses a known password if you lost yours... also contains the information to tell it at boot time in what mode to boot frozen/thawed) (I'm not sure where it keeps it's mirrored copy of the HD or whatever information) I've had that problem where it had installed like that (and with no password...) Couldn't find anything on the web (nor was their support helpful). On other occasions - it was impossible to install. it would crash mid install, and you could not exit the installer... At first I thought it was maybe something like the AV interfering with it's installation or something like that. I ended up uninstalling EVERYTHING and it still wouldn't install... The only way I ever got this thing to install properly is - install windows and immediately after install it, then the rest of your stuff... Overall speed wise, I can notice, but it wasn't really a big change (that was on P4 3GHz's with 1GB Ram mind you) Random errors, reboots, crashes... It does happen. It seems not to like apps that use their own proprietary memory management (like photoshop) too much. It definately slows photoshop down too... Like I said before, it has it's uses, but I'd rather not have to deal with it.
  11. I know... Lots of people say it stands for "Economical Crappy Sh1t"... But I've seen many, many of them run without issues for a long time too... Funnily, most people I've seen having issues with them are those with them weak 300w PSUs with not enough juice on the 12v bus - give it a good PSU and usually they run just fine... Been there way too many times before...
  12. Good question! Quite the bug you got there, never seen anything like it before. Wish I had an answer for you... note to self: stick with PerfectDisk
  13. Unless you're comparing to like NOD32... Not really. I've actually found it to not make my PC slow, bloated and unresponsive unlike say, norton would. If you're talking about full system scanning times, then you have to keep in mind how much more (in depth) it scans too (scanning level is configurable too). I mean, how often do you do full scans? Once I know my system is clean once, I don't really bother anymore, as kaspersky would popup a window if it ever came across one as I'm using the files anyways. I really don't find it slow at all.
  14. Well, if it was a VLK (not the case) you would not need to, but otherwise your windows has to be activated no matter what. I believe I had seen a way to backup your existing activation, but of course it would be for a specific computer only, and would need to be updated with hardware changes and such... -activated only prevents resetting the activation timer. It doesn't activate your windows by any means.
  15. %AppData% (and many others) all work fine. open a dos window and type "set" (w/o quotes, and press enter). You'll see what it refers to (and many others)
  16. Well, most similar issues I've seen have been too often bad PSU's, especially since you added a new, power hungry video card and more stuff... Otherwise, part swapping is a good way to eliminate possibilities.
  17. Hmm, I don't really have a use for it, but I just had to say... Nice to see another vbscript/WMI addict here
  18. I was wondering if AOL didn't have some sort of proprietary email system? Not sure, I've never seen it...
  19. Hmm, you ask how to create a folder, then ask how to create a file. It's not really clear. You can right click anywhere and make files and folders in explorer (or your desktop). There's many many ways to do that... email wise, it would help a lot if you told us what email client you're using (or is it webmail?). We need to know more.
  20. Six Feet Under - Hell Bells (Gaveryard Classics II album) (Yes, another metal freak!)
  21. Ok, I finally got around to try it again using mazin's method and it worked perfectly. I tried to add that REMOVE= ... but then it complained about an internal error. Without it, it doesn't install any of the trial stuff anyways, so no need for it. (myACD shows full registered too) As for mazin's reg tweak, I wouldn't use it as is. Your color managemet information is only partial. That made my acdsee preview and view pictures as solid black until I entered all the information in the options. Other than that the rest is fine, although I do customize more stuff personally (like viewer in full screen, black background, etc). @nemesis5 Look at [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ACD Systems\ACDSee\70] Export it, remove the junk (keep just what you want). That's it. Nothing else to it. If you got some extra settings it shouldn't hurt anyways as overwriting the default settings with your previous (identical) default settings won't make a difference.. @mazin thanks! That command line and EULA reg tweaks saved me some time
  22. It extracts to your temp folder. Most likely: C:\Document And Settings\Current_User_Name\Local Settings\Temp (or whatever that turns out to be in norwegian)
