Hi well I have to chime in here lol. Pc's are my business so I have a few for home use to keep the wife off my good pc's hehe. The pc I use the most and I do have a i7 with 2 gtx 280's in it with raptor drives which i use for media and games. But for eveyday use internet, mail, downloading is a amd athlon 64 3700 + socket 754 kv8-max3 board 3 gig ram 6600 gt video. It runs win 7 64 bit ultimate and gets a higher rateing in windows experiance index than most of the new cheap pc's. I built this pc many years ago it has 2 1 tb hard drives in it but the board can run 10 drives. Just because its old does not mean it cant do the job and most times for many people its all they need. And no its not slow on win 7, runs it very well no "please wait" when windows loads. And it always did blow away any p4 to bad amd stopped makeing performance cpus as they where always faster in the old days.

Hi yes win 7 does not have the drivers for the sil 3114 and i want to install the boot drive on the sil so I need the f6 sata driver disk to install to it. As the via sata wont recognise the drive but the sil 3114 does.

Hi yes its a abit kv8-max3 if I install windows on the via raid once windows starts it lists a diffrent raid conroller than the sil 3114 but if you right click it and run a sreach for drivers it finds the sil 3114 from windows update. But i need the preinstall with the txtsetup.oem file in it to do a fresh install on the sil 3114. The via does not support ncq and even with the jumper set to 1.5 still wont find it on the via but the sil 3114 does find the new drive. The drivers listed on that site are for the sil 3114 add in card I dont know if they will work as they call for bios BIOS:5.5.00 on that card. Thank You for your help I hope i can find somthing to make it work

Hi I am trying to find the a disk preinstall drivers for this sil3114 onboard raid controller. I have looked and can only find the drivers for the sil 3114 add on card, Any help is greatly Appreciated It needs to run on win 7 64 bit although 32 bit drivers should work.. Thank You John

Hi well with what i read they are recalling the cpus and wont be ready to ship until febuary at least thats what there press release said. As for intel or amd I used to love amd never would have anything else until they did the triple core bit which was a quad with one bad core. I never bought a amd cpu because it was cheaper some of the first athlon 64 chips where not cheap but they where faster than intel p4's by far. Today that is not the case intel has the fastest so I of course would wait on the intel. Dont be so eager you get pushed into something you wont be happy with.

Well all Sandy Bridge have been stopped and a recall is coming for who ever got one. they have a chipset design flaw.

Hi I have a few customers that are in dialup areas . Here bell has come out with a high speed wireless hub which works fine until it drops from a cloud or bad weather. Is it possible to connect to the dialup and also the wireless and have the dialup modem take over if the wireless drops and then when the wireless comes back up switch back to it. Normally the wireless only drops for a few min . System is running xp pro as its a business and some of there programs wont run on vista or 7. Thank You

Hi well since its a high def mkv It will make a difference what program you use to play it a net book can play mkv files fine. Vlc and other programs only use the CPU to decode the mkv so you can get poor performance. Where as zoom player power dvd , windows media player classic and others will use the gpu to play it giving much better performance.

Hi I have had that problem once . The pc would work fine here but not at the customers house older home bad wireing. As a last try i changed the psu and that did it. I have no idea why except the psu maybe was not getting enough power to it from there house and it was a old psu.

yes MSI did the first one was the p45-8d called the memory lovers board it will take 16 gig ddr 2 or 8 gig ddr 3 it has 8 memory slots.

Hi just to try take a normal freezer pack like you would use as a ice pack or a heat pack for your knee or what ever and set it on top of the hard drive see if that helps if not no cooling will.

Hi CoffeeFiend good reply ty i have tried MPC HC 64 bit very nice picture audio im not sure of, playing a bought dvd dvd while its playing i select navigate then audio language and it tells me its useing ac3 48000hz 16 bits 2 channels this is at the start for the ads once the movie starts it changes but only the speaker out put which goes to 6 channels still 16 bits though. If i right click on the screen and choose audio then options it tells me the speaker configuration 2 channels with only front left and front right. my hardware is a audigy 4 pro with the front panel and a set of logitech z5500 speakers. When played in power dvd it gives me 6 ch direct but the movie picture itself is better than power dvd i just dont see why its useing ac3 to play a bought dvd the dvd is dolby dts even if i change the speaker configuration to 6 it auto returns to 2. When i play it in power dvd it tells me its playing the audio = dolby digital 5.1 448 kbps also when power dvd is playing it the voice is generally the center speaker with MPC HC the voice is from every speaker so is not 5.1 direct sound, as the same sound comes out from all the speakers.Is there a way to set it up to use 5.1.I have the output from the audigy set to 24 bit 96000 hz.

Oh i was going by he had a dvd player program that does all the dts mine does, xvid and ac3 filter are only for those types of movies really and will play most avi's. Gspot is a good free program to check and see if you have the right codec and what one you need. So what is your choice for a good codec pack hehe ill give it a look.I use the new power dvd 10 nice change in it is it uses cpu and gpu so the better video card the better the performance.

Hi well there is no such thing as a good codec pack they install many codecs that do the same thing and can cause problems,like a 20 meg codec pack has a huge amount of codecs in it. If you install the ac3 filter and the xvid codec it should play most everything. By installing these 2 codecs it allows all windows programs to use them power dvd for example you can get them here free-codecs.com for the xvid one use Koepi's XviD Codec its the better one.

ok im back on this subject the original ? was when i use a temp monitor program to see quad core temps some of them give you a cpu temp then the 4 cores temps why. I have found out the reason for this. Intel provides separate thermal specifications for 2 different sensor types; a single Case Thermal Diode located within the CPU die between the Cores, and Digital Thermal Sensors located within each Core. The Case Thermal Diode measures Tcase (Temperature Case), which is commonly known as CPU temp, and the Digital Thermal Sensors measure Tjunction (Temperature Junction), which is commonly known as Core temp. Since these sensors measure 2 distinct thermal levels, there is a constant temperature difference between them, which is referred to as Tcase to Tjunction Delta. C2Q’s have 1 Tcase and 4 Tjunction sensors, while C2D’s have 1 Tcase and 2 Tjunction sensors.So this is why you get the main cpu case temp then the 4 cores. Although i find it hard to beleive a cpu case temp of 22 when the cores are all around 40. Also each core temp is diffrent not much but they are. So if core 1 is 50 core 2 47 core 3 48 core 4 46 and the main cpu case temp is 22 what is the real temp or do u guess. I also wonder why they have the main cpu die temp sensor if it really means nothing. Thank You

Hi in ie when you run a search on the left side now you get a panel on the left and the right the right panel has Sponsored links the left one gives you images videos news more and more stuff under that. It was not like that 3 days ago it is in the pc news about the change and most say it looks like bing. If you know anyway to disable both these side panels please let me know as it is there new site design and no it has not been this way for more than 3 days

I just tried google search and yes it has the bing side panel looks like total crap lol.Why would they change a good thing oh this makes me mad you get used to something and now this hehe.I sent them a email aksing if ms bought them out just for a laugh.

Hi well the first thing to check is what temp is the card running at you can download EVGA Precision and it will give you the temp.

You do know they can trace you with those things they give you cancer also LOL, and no I only have a home phone I dont really want people calling me where ever I am like the wife for example.

Hi are you sure you got the right bios for the system from hp.On a HP it makes no difference if you change the drive or anything else really its in the motherboard bios. HP restore can be run from f 11 at boot with no restore cds as long as the recovery partition is ok. If you use a new hard drive and the restore cds they will first create a partition for the recovery install all files to the recovery partition and install windows from that recovery partition, so the restore cds actually recreate the restore partition on a new drive.
