Thanks Iceman, Yes the laptops are identical. I'll try it with the source drive externally then Punto, I'm using an externally powered Usb to Ide 2.5/3.5 and SATA converter. It works fine on normal desktops but laptops always seem to have "issues". Thanks again though people, At least I have another option to try now

Hi All, I have 10 laptops which need to have several large applications plus WinXp installed. I have successfully made an image of one of the laptops using Acronis trueimage. What i am trying to do is clone the hard disk from an installed HDD to one connected through a USB - IDE converter dongle. Acronis detects the external drive correctly as an additional disk and the Acronis software clones the disk with no errors. But when i try to install the disk and boot from it, it gets to the WinXP loading screen then contiuously reboots. The only way i've found that works so far is to make an Image partition only on the target drive and then restore the image locally to a newly created primary partition, this process is long winded, i was just wondering if anyone has found an easy solution with regards to cloning laptop drives? Thanks again Madhits. Btw it was IE6 not 7 that the problem is with ( I dont like IE7). Anyway if this makes no difference i'll just have to live with it.

Thanks Madhit and Strotee, Mad your solution works, but i really want to get this thing working "out of the tin" so to speak. Strotee , yes i ran a couple of times. I'll try again though. I have backed up a folder to the point of intergrating the service packs and RyanVm's updates before i did any option changes i'll go back and use that, and if it still wont work i'll try it without the hotfixes Thanks for all your help

Hi All, I've just made my first working unattended install using Nlite and ryanVm's intergrator for the hotfixes etc and i slipstreamed SP2. I have burnt to cd and all works fine. Except that is for the IE icon on my desktop. When i click it i get an "Open With" dialogue. I have chosen classic desktop and within Nlite i also chose to display certain things on the desktop. I think IE was one of them but can't remember for sure. If i browse to C:\program files\internet explorer and click the icon there it works fine. Has anyone else had this problem and worked out how to fix it? i'm sure its something simple but i can't seem to pinpoint it. please help! Thanks in advance Steve
