  1. I Rule Out Video Driver Too, I Am Using The Latest Video Driver And Windows Update Is Enabled. This Problem Started Just Today, This Has Never Happened To Any Of My Computers Ever! I've Enabled Dragging And Dropping(One Formum Said That This Is The Fix) But It Ain't Fixed. It Could Be Hardware But The Execution Of Task Manager Contradicts This As It Is A Mere Software. This Is The Weirdest Problem Ever...... Thanks For The Reply Anyway!
  2. Whenever My Computer Starts And The Desktop Appears The Start Button And Other Desktop Icons Flicker, However If I Run The Task Manager And Close It, The Flickering Stops Totally For This Session, Never Appears Until Next Restart. I've Ruled Out Malware As This Also Happened On A Clean Install Of Both Vista And XP. If I Do Not Run Task Manager And Open Another Folder Say My Computer And Single Click Anything Say C: That Too Begins To Flicker. I Wonder What Is The Connection Between Task Manager And Flickering?
  3. Your Computer Seems To Be Seriously Infected..... I Guess You Got Spoofed Into Installing A Fake Anti-Spyware(Which Is Spyware Itself) And It Is causing All Sorts Of Mayhem. Any Attempts To Scan For Malware Will Surely Give You No Results As These Items Run At Boot Time And Reside In Your Memory(RAM)(Rootkits) The Best Way To Get Rid Of This Nuisance Is A Fresh Install Of Windows. (Repair Would Suffice But Clean Install Recommended) But While Doing This You Will Lose All Data On The System Drive. Backing Up This Data Will Result Is Backing Up The Malware Too..... Try Using Alternative Boot Methods Like BartPE, Ultimate BootCD And Then Scan Off The Disk As This Will Prevent The Infected File From Executing. Take Your Hard Drive To A Friend Who Has A Strong Antivirus (Like ESET Or Avira) And Get It Cleaned, Back Up Your Data And Then Install Windows From A Different Source Than Your Created Disk. You Could Also Try Online Scanners Like House Call Incase The System Is Not Allowing You To Install Antivirus. Best= Format, Clean Install Second Best= Scan, Backup, Repair Good Luck!
  4. Ctrl+F1 Opens Up Help And Support! Offcourse I Know How To Use Help And Support, But I Just Cant Get Any Results With The Compass Even Though I Typed Exactly What Is Typed In The Demo!
  5. I've Tried Typing The Same Queries That Are Shown In The Demo, Also Typed In A Query I Read Online, Yet I Do Not See The Guided Help 'Compass'. What Is It I'm Doing Wrong? BTW I'm On Vista Ultimate SP1. Do I Have To Enable A Service Or Component? Do I Have To Download Anything? Somehow The Weirdest Of Problems Always Come To Me!
  6. That Pretty Much Covers Up Everything! It's Hard To Find A Free Tool That You DiDn't Mention..... How 'Bout Daemon Tools Lite- Pretty Good App (Are There Any Reasons You Left It Out? Security Perhaps?)
  7. 1: Disable Un-Needed Startp Entries! (Msconfig) 2: Disable Un-Necessary Services! (services.msc) 3: Remove Un-Used Applications! (Uninstall) 4: Scan Your Registry For Errors! (CCleaner, Tuneup) 5: Defragment Your Hard Drive (Defragmenter) 6: Check For Hard Drive Errors (Chkdsk) 7: Scan For Malware, Malware Usually Are The Culprits! (Online Scanner-House Call)
  8. Vista Bad Reception By The Public Was Mainly Due To Its Sudden Cliff In Hardware Requirements Which Unlike Flowed In Earlier Versions. Now We Know What Vista Is Like And Windows 7 Has The Same Requirements Therefore It Will Be Received In A Much Better Way! Can't Wait For It!
  9. Sometimes Windows Update Has The Latest Driver For Your Hardware That Isn't Available On The Manufacturer Website.....Try Windows Update! The File You Downloaded Contains A .inf File Right? Go To Device Manager, Update Your Monitor Driver Manually By Browsing To The Location Of The .inf File.
  10. Try The Windows File Inspector/ System File Checker Just In Case Other Files Are Missing! Run SFC /Scannow Repairing This Problem In Any Other Way Would Be Tedious And Will Affect Performance In The Future. I Suggest A Complete Re-Install! Look For Registry Backups Created By Common Cleaning Tools!
  11. I Often Take Screenshots Of Installations And Problems In Order To Show My Friends Who Are A Bit Less Experienced Than I Am(Not That I'm Much). Basically I Use These Screenshots To Show Them How To Get Certain Things Done Or Help Them Counter A Problem. I Usually Put All The Screenshots In A Folder And Number Them So They View Them In Order And Correspond To The Instructions. I Add Basic Captioning. I'm Looking For An App That Will Create A Comic Strip Style Tutorial Or A Clickable Intuitive Slideshow Tutorial With Advanced Captioning. I Have Already Paid For Screen Capturing Software =Techsmith SnagIt Now All I Need Is An App That Will Organise These Screenshots. I've Tried Video Capturing And Its The Best But The Output File Is Large Even After Extreme Compression. My Best Bet Is Slideshow! Please Help Me Out!
  12. You Could Try And Install The Game Again- And Then Uninstall It, If This Works Then This Rules Out Windows Itself. This Would Help You In Identifying The Particular App Thats Deleting The Configuration Files Of The Uninstall!
  13. Vista Requires Minimum Of 15 GB Free Space To Function Optimally. I Back This Statement With My Vista Ultimate x86 Which Uses Around 10 GB. This Includes Service Pack 1 And System Drivers(I Did A Fresh Install Just 2 Days Ago) I'd Say Vista Business Would Require Much More Than The Recommended 15 GB, You Will Be Installing Huge Software That Run In Gigabytes Like Photoshop, MS Office And Other Business Monitoring Tools! Sorry Bro!
  14. Yes There Is A Limit To How Many Times You Can Activate Your Computer Using A Particular Key. After That For Every Re-Install Or Clean Install You Have To Call Them. However They Do Not Provide You WithA Fresh Key, So You Have To Call Them Everytime. I Hope I'm Wrong But I Think The Limit Is 6.....Just A Wild Assumption!
  15. @ DigeratiPrime Totally Agree With You! @MGB Some Of The Free Security Applications That never Let Me Nor My Comp Down Are As Follows! 1: Avira Antivir Personal (Also Available Paid Version) 2: Spyware Blaster 3: Comodo Firewall Pro (Arguably Better Than Some Paid Firewalls) 4: TrendMicro HijackThis (For Those Stubborn Infections) Use Genuine Software, Use A Standard Account Instead Of Administrator, Though Annoying, Enable UAC And Use Common Sense.
  16. Well For Starters You Should Try Disabling User Account Control. Even Though UAC Is Disabled You Will Still Have A Lot Of Trouble With System Files. BTW Which 3 Files Are You Referring To? There Is A Much Safer Way To Get Transluscent Maximize Windows In Vista, Find A Msstyle With Has A Transparent Maximize Window, There Is A Nice Windows 7 Style Out On 'Deviantart' Which Has The 7 Shellstyle Mstyle And It Also Contains A Msstyle Which Has The Same Taskbar As Vista But Transluscent Maximize Windoes And Not So Noticable Other Changes. So You Wont Feel Like You're Using 7 But rather Vista With Transluscent Borders Maximized.
  17. +1 For Teracopy For Some Reason The Copy Process In Vista Is A Bit Slow, Although This Isuue Was Somewhat Fixed With SP1, It's Still Relatively Slow. It Does't Utilize The Hard Disks Buffer Efficiently. Besides, Teracopy Has Features That Beats Default File Handler Anyday. Pause/Resume; Manage Buffer; Skip Damaged Files Without Stopping Other Files From Copying; Verification Of Copied Files Etc. There Are Some Initial Issues With User Account Control And Teracopy But They Can Easily Be Fixed, Other Than That It Is An Excellent GUI File Handler
  18. This Problem Seems To Be A Rather Weird One..... There Might Be An Issue With Your Installer, Make Sure Your Game Is Original And Not A Pirated Copy. Also Try Updating The Windows Installer!
  19. What Does Microsoft Mean, When They Say "Run All New Features Of Windows Vista With Full Functionality" Say A Comp Has A Base Score Of 3.9, What Functionality Is Limited Or Disabled?
  20. Add Two New Commands To The Context Of Vista..... "Copy To" "Move To" Click Start>Type Regedit>Accept UAC Warning! You May Backup Your Registry Just In Case Something Goes Wrong. To Backup Your Registry, Click On File And Then Export To Any Location. Now Down To The Tweak!(You Might Find Commands "Copy To" And "Move To" Already In The "ContextMenuHandlers", Ignore Thos And Continue With The Instructions Below) 1: In The Left Pane Of The Registry Window, Expand "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT" 2: Scroll Down Till You Find "ALLFilesystemObjects" And Then Expand It; Then Expand "shellex" To Reveal "ContextMenuHandlers" 3: Right Click "ContextMenuHandlers" And Select "New Key"; You Will Thus Get A Key Named "#1"; Now Carefully Rename This Key As Follows {C2FBB630-2971-11D1-A18C-00C04FD75D13} (Including The Brackets And The 0 Are Zeros) 4: Now For The "Move To" Command 5: Right Click "ContextMenuHandlers" And Select "New Key"; You Will Thus Get A Key Named "#1"; Now Carefully Rename This Key As Follows {C2FBB631-2971-11D1-A18C-00C04FD75D13} (Including The Brackets And The 0 Are Zeros) 6: You May Now Exit The Registry; File>Exit (Restart NOT Required) 7: Right Click Any File In Explorer To Test The New Commands!
  21. 6. go to ur E:\ and locate a new file named vistaDVD.iso 7. burn that ISO with ur favourite burning software Eg: nero 8. Boot your system with the created DVD 9. must work if u go perfectly.. Hey Nepali! Your Method Works, Thanks A Lot! I Had A Real Hard Time Installing Vista, So Hard That I Had To Install XP, Then Vista Through XP GUI! Now With Your Tip I Am Able To Not Only Boot From DVD But I Also Made My Own Bootable USB Vista Installation Drive! Installation Takes Around 10-15 Minutes As Opposed To 30-40 Minutes! I Owe It All To You Brother! Thanks Once Again!
