ok i use my modem for dial-up in my xp pro and its fine but in my x64 when in the first step it tries to open the port so you hear the noise of modem it gives an error "error 668: the connection was terminated". i checked the phone and modem tab in control pannel and diagnosed the modem and it was fine. any idea? thanks.

ok heres my question, i tried installing some softwares that windows itself recognized them as 32 bit(program files(x86)) ad they worked fine so i wondering what happens if i install them on program files folder(64 bit) and i did it and they are fine again. so will the performance be diffrent now that they are on the prog files folder?

i want my windows media player open in the same folder everytime ,not the last folder i used to open with it. how can i do that? thanks.

ok dont just go and shoot me with "search before send". and sorry if this belonged to unattended section but didnt know if thats the best to put. i want to upgrade my mainboard and cpu but i want my windows with all settings and applications to be remained safe.ive read some stuff about sysprep in the forum and know how to work with it but will the mini setup install the neccessary hardware drivers? simply tell me how can i keep my windows? thanks alot.

i wanna by a new athlon 64 computer but i want my windows with all the softwares and settings to be moved to the new computer.yeah i know that this is not normaly possible cause of hardware diffrences. so is there any way i can do that? if there is please guide me step by step or link me to a document for that. thanks alot.

ok,my outpost firewall pro 3 started to cracsh a few times in the past few days,when i tried monitoring the problem i saw that in the main page of outpost in open ports section it shows 1768 ports open and sometimes more than 2500 but when i tried other softwares like TCP VIEW or PORT EXPLORER i only see 27/28 open ports. anyone seen such a thing? thanks.

i think what compass is asking for is a tool that list all the clients you want in the corner of desktop and ping them in a period of time and show if they are alive right camposs? ive seen two tools that do this for you,one was a small proggy but i cant remember the name but the other one is SOLARWINDS management tools that have a perfect tool for this. hope that helped.

i dont think its about the lan connection but i think maybe the client firewall made something to my pc. i even cant load those sites when i unplugg my lan connection and use dial-up.

ok i forgot something, im in a lan too and i use the firewall client agent for my isa in my lan but i disable it when i want to connect to my dial-up.and of course i checked the connection tab for proxy address and cleared it. any help?

Don't place multiple pagefiles on different partitions on the same physical disk drive. " but about the size of it i remember my teacher used to say that its prefered to use half memory size as minimum and 1.5 memory size for maximum.

ok thanks guys but one more question, if the battery still is half charged and user use the ac cable so he can work and it get charge at the same time is that damage or make my battery life shorter? is it better that to wait until its finished and then use cable or doesnt make any diffrence? thanks.

i wanted to know that in tablet pc's , when you use the direct cable for power is it still charging the battery and supply the power or the battery gets out when you use the ac cable?

no you see,there is this .exe file that only can be run in cmd. i donr want that everytime open the cmd and then type the file path and then run it,so thought maybe i can make a batch file that run the file in cmd for me(ex:run the cmd first and then run the file in it).

ok i know this is a newbie question but i searched windows help but couldnt find the answer. i wanna make a batch file that open an specified file in command prompt i mean first open the cmd and open the file in it. whats the commands? thanks.
